Q:What battery would you recommend for the 1/2" Mid Torque? I bought the bare tool and the 8Ah High Output battery but it weighs a lot. Would the 5Ah XC battery work good enough to remove and install an entire set of lug nuts on a pickup truck?

A: A 5ah battery would be more than adequate. I’ve used a 3ah hour battery on mine. It really comes down to usage. Given that there isn’t much weight difference between the 3ah and the 5ah, I would opt for the 5 if I had to choose.

A: I use a high output 3.0 with this tool and it works great. Can do a whole set of 4 wheels and it's nice and light.

A: Yes the 5ah XC battery would do the job but would use the 8ah for extended use

A: Yes, the charge is sufficient. I am a professional technician , the 5 amp battery more than enough charge/power for typical applications. I would recommend the 6 amp if you have heavier duty vehicles that have 8 lugs or more because they tend to be torqued to 140 ft lbs or higher putting more load on the impact draining the battery quicker .

A: The 3.0 high output battery is a better fit for your needs it has less weight than the 5.0 battery but more power than the 5.0 battery because it has the 2160 series cells in it instead of the the lower powered 1960 series cell of the 5.0 battery. The 3.0 high output battery will supply all the power you need and it’s lighter weight will make it more pleasurable to use [NO FATIQUE FACTOR]!

A: Well considering that my truck has 6 lug wheels and a 3AH works fine to remove and replace all of mine I would think the 5 would do perfect!

A: I have both the big and mid torque impacts and hardly ever use the high torque. If I need something worth more power I use my 1/2 air impact because I find that the air impact hits differently then the cordless and less likely to snap the bolt/nut. I use the mid torque all day to remove wheels, do brake work, most steering and suspension, etc. the high torque cordless impact weighs a whole lot more and isn’t nearly as comfortable to use. I have just about all the Milwaukee cordless tools that are most practical for auto repair in my box and I love them. Most used are the M18 1/2” mid torque impact, M12 3/8” stubby impact, M12 1/4” long neck ratchet. I’ve had them for awhile now (with extra batteries) when used properly never disappoint.

A: This one would be better. The high torque doesn’t fit anywhere and this one offers plenty of power

A: I prefer the mid torque for anything other than lug nuts. Its smaller size allows its use where the high torque won't fit.
