Q:Can these sheets be applied to treated plywood or any treated wood.
by|Apr 2, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Thank you for contacting Old Mill Brick! We do not recommend installing our thin brick onto plywood or wood. There are several issues; such as the modified thin set adhesive absorbing into to the wood. Also the seasonal changes can affect plywood/wood, expand/contract which would affect the thin brick adhering to the surface.

Q:Suitable for covering the exterior of a fireplace chimney? I currently have a chimney that protrudes from the roof of my house (not a full side chimney) that is covered in Hardi-Plank and it constantly needs painting. Want a more durable solution.

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for your interest in Old Mill Brick! Yes, our thin brick can be used on an exterior of a chimney. In your instance, we would recommend applying an air & water barrier to the surfaces of the hardi-plank and ensuring that there is appropriate flashing to keep water seeping behind the brick. From there we recommend using a modified thin set adhesive to adhere the brick to the surface. Once that is done we recommend using either a sanded grout or a S-type mortar to grout the joint lines.
