A: Hello Mike, Foamular Fanfold may not be the best option for this application as it is designed to be a backer board prior to residing. This is a perforated product that has an R-value of R-1. Owens Corning Foamular NGX 150 or NGX 250 at 1"-2" thick may be a better option as it has an R-value of R-5 per inch. Thank you for your inquiry!

Q:Can you use this product on exterior 1/2 inch plywood sheeting and then a house wrap prior to installing hardiboard siding? Thanks so much!

Answer This Question
A: Hello Moose, While Foamular FanFold can be installed over plywood sheathing prior to installing siding, its intended purpose is to be used as a residing board to provide a smooth surface to install new siding over existing. The 1/4" thickness will only provide a R-value of 1. We also suggest checking with Hardie to determine their installation requirements. Thank you for your inquiry!

Q:My bedroom is cantilevered. Can I use this foam under soffit. It would be installed over plywood and covered with vinyl soffit

Answer This Question
A: Hello JamesT, You can use Foamular in this location, but ¼” will be of minimal benefit. You also will want to ensure that the cavities under the cantilevered part are blocked at the wall/foundation below to prevent exterior air from going into conditioned or partially conditioned space within the cavities. Thank you for your inquiry!
