Yes, the Rover 40 is capable of charging Li batteries and does have a preset Li setting. This Li setting is preset for a max boost charge of 14.4v though so if your Li battery does not require that much of a charge you may want to set the controller to the USER setting to change the voltage parameters to your battery.
According to Renogy , Yes.
Hello Don, Thank you for reaching out to us and your question. Please be aware that the 40-amp controller is rated at a 100-Volt D/C input. As long as you do not exceed 520-watts you may connect a solar panel with a 24-volt output and charge a 12-volt battery bank. Please contact us if you have any other questions or concerns, have a wonderful day!
I believe the answer is yes. I have four 100w panels connected to mine. I have them in two x two configuration. This means two 100w in series, making it a 24v x 100w unit. Two of these hooked together in parallel make the whole unit 200w x 24v. I have had no problems with this setting and the MPPT controller. By the way I have 2 deep cycle marine batteries connected to the end of this system in parallel. Hope this helps. Of course you can always just call Renogy and ask, they are very helpful people
Hello Don, Thank you for reaching out to us and your interest in Renogy. As long as you do not exceed 100-Volts D/C or 520-watts you may connect a higher output solar panel and charge a 12-volt battery bank. Please contact us if you have any other questions or concerns have a wonderful day.
Hello Ted, Thank you for reaching out to us and your interest in Renogy. The Renogy 40-Amp Rover can accept a maximum solar input of 520-Watts with a 12-Volt battery bank. Please contact us if you have any additional questions, have a wonderful day!
In a 12 volt system 520 watts. In a 24 volt system 1040 watts.
For information I have copied this from the Renogy Manual Max. Solar Input Power Model RVR-20 12V @ 260W 24V @ 520W Model RVR-30 12V @ 400W 24V @ 800W Model RVR-40 12V @ 520W 24V @ 1040W Hope this helps. If you have any more questions call Renogy they are very helpful people.
I would be glad to assist you here! The maximum PV solar input this controller can handle is 520 watts at 12v. However if you wish to use a 24v battery bank, it can handle up to 1040 watts at 24v. I hope this helps answer your question! Best regards, ~Tylor Renogy technical support department
