              Q:Does it survive winter frost

A:  No…when it drops below freezing or 30, the leaves and stems turn brown and shrivel.  I live in Knoxville, Tn.  Zone 7 and lost 4 this winter.  This year I plan on wrapping them, leaving the top open for rain and sun.  Maybe they will survive this winter.

A:  Not in Oklahoma, I have found. I did put chicken wire around the plant and then put leaves down on top of it to hopefully over winter it. I did uncover the plant today and I won’t know if it survived until it gets a little warmer. A previous plant did not make it with no protection. If you have a protected area, you can try one. The fragrance is out of this world.

A:  I live in western NC zone 7b and my 3 survived the December 2022 freeze down to 11 degrees. I would say the first winter mulch it heavy, then you should be ok. Mine got a few leaves that had brown tip edges but nothing major. This was a very cold freeze

A:  The Jubilation Gardenia is conditioned for planting zones 7a-11b. Once mature and cared for it would not have an issue surviving winter frost in these zones.

                      Answer This Question

A:  Absolutely, but try something that there is not a huge difference with original pot, majority of gardeners suggest never jump more than two sizes pots at once, sample from a 4" pot get no more than 8" because otherwise would take too long to bloom. Good luck with your gardening

A:  No, It would rather have part sun and part shade. I had placed mine in a pot on the back porch originally but it was just to much sun for it. I moved it to the front porch and it gets some of both and it is thriving and still has buds on it waiting to bloom..
