Q:How does this saw compare to the contractors model for power?

Answer This Question
A: Comparing our Compact Table Saw to our Contractor model is rather tricky. The model that closely resembles the Compact Table saw would be our other portable model--the Jobsite Saw pro. The Contractor falls under our cast iron models and is consider a cabinet style saw. The Contractor saw has a 1.75 Hp motor, runs on 120 volts, and is listed at 14 amps. We have not published the HP of the CTS as a spec because we have found there is a lot of variability in how saws of this class specify their motor power – which can be both misleading and confusing. The CTS has a 15A, direct drive motor that is comparable to other top competitors’ saws in this class.

Q:I get you can't use dado blades, but, can you use a normal blade to make cuts halfway though the thickness of the material, not all the way cutting the piece apart, or will it trigger the brake?

Answer This Question
A: You can use a regular 10" blade to cut only part way through your workpiece. This will not activate the safety brake.

Q:I understand that you can't use a dado blade, but, can you use a regular blade to make a cut only to, for example, halfway through the material's thickness, not all the way completely cutting the material apart, or is this going to trigger the brake?

A: You can certainly use a standard 10" blade and make multiple cuts to make a dado slot in your work piece. This will not activate the brake.
