Q:I would like to change the password each time I have a guest at my vacation home. I have wifi at my main residence but not at vacation home about 150 miles. My first though is "no" this won't work. Does anyone have suggestions for a work around. How could I solve this issue?

Answer This Question
A: The only way to change it remotely is to have WiFi. Otherwise you would need to have someone on-site to change it manually. It works great with Apple TV (home kit).

A: You need access to the lock to make changes remotely. The lock itself uses bluetooth to communicate with a device on the internet (like an AppleTV used as a HomeKit hub). Schlage does sell a wifi adapter that will get it on a wifi network "directly". The adapter would be the best choice for a vacation home, as an AppleTV would have to be logged into your AppleID. One way or another wifi/internet is required to change the code remotely, and that would apply for any smart lock.

A: In order to remotely change the door code on the Schlage Sense Smart Lock, you will have to be connected to wifi each time a guest will arrive. My suggestion is to ask a neighbor if they would mind if you connect to their secured wifi signal. If that works then you will either need at least a 4th generation Apple TV or the Schlage hub. The Apple TV/Schlage Hub are the item(s) that will need to be connected to the wifi signal. I would recommend the Schlage hub because it costs less and you will not have to sign into your iTunes account in order to remotely change the codes. I hope that helps.

Q:How long can access codes be? The demos in the store allowed 1,2,3,4. I'm hoping access codes can be longer than for digits?

A: Yes, they can be at least 8. In fact, if you’re using Apple HomeKit it forces 8-digit codes.

Q:Is this now compatible with Google Home? If so do we need the Sense WiFi adapter?

A: The Schlage Sense will be compatible with Google Home within the next few months but there is no set date as of yet. To be able to pair to Google Home you will also need a Schlage Sense Wi-Fi Adapter. If you have any further questions please feel free to call one of our representatives at (888)-805-9837

A: I suggest you purchase the wi-fi adapter. I started using all of my locks with the Apple HomeKit however I had some problems remotely setting door codes. I purchased wi-fi adapters for 2 of my 3 locks and the had 1 lock still on Apple HomeKit app through my 4th Gen Apple TV. The wi-fi adapter and Schlage app are working great, but so is the Apple HomeKit now that I have only 1 lock to sync. My understanding is the Sense smart lock was built specifically for the Apple HomeKit however if the Google Assistant symbol is not on the box then it will not synch with it. I hope that helps.

A: Don't know about Google Home because I use Alexa. It is not compatible there yet. It works great with iPhone though.

Answer This Question
A: The backset and thickness can be slightly adjusted.
by|May 5, 2023
A: Not quite sure what adjustment you need clarification about, so I hope, the following is helpful:
Backset: Universal latches and deadbolts fit 2-/8" (60mm) or 2-3/4" (70mm) backsets.
Door thickness range: 1-3/8" to 1-3/4"thick.
Exterior Dimensions: 3" x 5" x 1"
Interior Dimensions: 3" x 8" x 2”
The latch provides a bit of adjustable movement for installation. I suggest you contact Schlage Customer Service at:
888-805-9837 (US) to ask your specific questions BEFORE ordering. They ar VERY helpful. Best wishes!

A: I ordered this a while ago and I was not happy. I bought it and with the idea that the handle was included but when it came in the mail, it was only the keypad and not the handle. The picture on the box showed the handle and the keypad.
by|May 5, 2023
A: Adjustable...hmmm, depends on what adjustment you are asking about. There is some latitude in movement of how the handle mounts to your door. To make sure, before buying, you should contact Schlage Customer Service to Clarify your “adjustment” concern. They may be contacted at the number listed on this link: https://www.schlage.com/en/home/contact-us.html

Q:Can this lock be setup using the key from my old schlage dead bolt lock?
by|Jan 18, 2018

Answer This Question
A: Yes. You will need to rekey the lock to match your old deadbolt. I rekeyed mine using a kit.
by|May 5, 2023
A: I recommend that you contact a local locksmith in your area and ask them. I have a hunch that you CAN have this lock re-keyed the key from your existing Schlage lock. They can tell you how much it will cost to do this.
A very nice feature of this lock, if you are upgrading your house with “smart” devices, you can connect it to your Apple phone and use voice command to open and lock the door.

A: My first question would be way? A key comes with the locking system.

Answer This Question
A: So to further confuse me....Schlage responded that it comes with the 4 items pictured. Home Depot said they contacted Schlage for me an they would send out the additional parts and I would get a tracking number is about 3 days. Now 10 days later no tracking number so I contact Home Depot. Now they say no it doesn't come with handles. I said the description says "Handleset with Latitude Lever". They suggest me to contact Schlage to clarify. I guess I am done with this experience. Taking it back to Home Depot to get a refund.
by|May 5, 2023
A: Yes, it comes with what you see. The top two items make up the actual lock and the bottom two are just what is says, a handle set, no locking function.

A: Can't answer the Smartthings question but the alarm is a vibration built in alarm. If the door senses a vibration, the alarm will sound. Have not tested the app if the alarm will go to the app. Nice feature to have. This feature can be turned on/off. Hope this helps you.
