A: Hi Dean, this is Scott from the Teks product team. We recommend using our sharp point version (#21504 or 21506) for attaching up to 20 Gguge thick metal to wood.

A: no problem . I like to use the sharp point rather then the drill points in wood. If PT I would use a coated screw instead.

A: You actually have this backwards ... the teeth of this screw grab very well into metal (and not wood). Look for a screw that grabs wood and you should be in good shape.

A: Teks Lath screws with drill points are designed for optimal drilling in steel up to 18ga. Drilling into 14ga steel will take longer than normal and has the potential for increased point burn up. The Teks #12 x 1" with a hex washer head (Teks #: 21340 & 21341) is designed for drilling in steel up to 12ga.
