Answer This Question

A:  If the solenoid is screwed out the valve won’t close. Make sure the solenoid is screwed firmly in. The valve should fail closed.

A:  it have to be same voltage and same physical size

    by|Aug 7, 2019

A:  Since “both valves open and do not close,” our recommendation is not to replace the solenoids, but to replace the inside diaphragm with Toro Commercial part # 138802 or the Toro retail # 53804. Thank you.

Q:What size are the 18* wires, ie, #10, 12, 14? And what size waterproof wire nuts are recommended, small, medium? Thank you.

          Answer This Question

A:  The solenoid wires are 18 gauge. The gauge of the wire running from your controller to your valves could be anywhere from 18 to 12 gauge, depending upon the length of the run. Relatively small wire nuts/grease caps, such as 18-10’s, will work fine. Thank you.

                  Answer This Question

A:  You need to unscrew your solenoid from the valve body and take it into Home Depot for solenoid comparison. You will be able to tell when you compare the mating area of the solenoid. Many of the newer valves have solenoids that have a much larger solenoid mating surface. Compare the end of the solenoid that screws into the valve. If the width, depth, and threads look the same it will probably fit your valve. If the width, depth and threads are larger on your solenoid, it will not be compatible with this Jar-Top Valve. The newer solenoids usually have a much wider mating surface, so it should not be hard to tell when comparing them. It may be a better bet price wise to purchase a whole new valve assembly. Usually the whole valve assembly doesn't cost that much more than the individual solenoid part.

A:  Unfortunately, your valve was discontinued about 35 years ago and the thread pitch on our newer solenoids is much different. The Toro part number you would need to replace your solenoid would be Toro #89-0114 or Toro #53350 (same product).

A:  Yes, this solenoid will works on L6010’s. Toro’s 53803 is interchangeable with Lawn Genie models L10000 and L10000B.

A:  I do not think so. Look real good if the original solenoid has any numbers on it. That is what you search for. The L6010 is the diaphram.
