Q:How do you account for the 1/4 inch expansion gap with these products? I see there is a "floating method" to putting them in place, do you place a bead on silicone chalking between gaps rather than securing it to the floor to allow for the expansion gap?

        Answer This Question

A:  Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is, all of the trims have at least a 1/4" lip to accommodate manufacturing specifications. If you are using the "floating" method. Make sure that the edge of the floor and top of the edge of the profile are touching. This is part of the designed tap down feature. It is a good idea to put a small amount of adhesive or silicone in the groove when the flooring goes fits in. This well help to secure the floor as it expands and contracts around the perimeter wall.
