Questions and Answers for Waterboss 22,000-Grain Capacity Water Softener System

A:  The drain line discharges the used water from regeneration. You have to have the drain line to flush the regeneration water out.

A:  The drain line is for the water when the softener regenerates; I believe about 15 gallons are used. It’s pumped.  The overflow line is used if something goes wrong and the salt tank overfills. It’s gravity drained. 

A:  The drain line is used when the water softener flushes the hardness minerals from the resin bed and does use a a bit of water in the process. The overflow drain is only used if the salt bin should overflow with excessive brine and that means that the brine float is stuck down. 

A:  The drain line flows a salty brine during a regen cycle several gallons (16 gal I think). The overflow will not have flow from it unless something is wrong.

A:  Hi Razor, Iron reduction for the WaterBoss 700 softener is 10ppm iron reduction. Same for the WaterBoss 900. However, the WaterBoss 950 has a 0-ppm iron reduction. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact our Technical Team at (800) 437-8993. Thank you!

A:  Factory states this weighs 80 lbs empty. Because of the bulkiness of the product best to have 2 people be able to move and put in place. You could use a two wheel cart also....

A:  I don't recall, but I could carry it. It should say in the description

A:  No, there is no lock for the tank. The top does not slide open easily, so that could stop kids from opening it.

A:  You would have to modify the unit to put a lock on the top. But I guess you could do it if you tried.

A:  No, top is thin plastic.

A:  Unfortunately, our WaterBoss units cannot be locked. We assume that you could try to come up with a way to lock the unit, but we don't design our units to have locks as they are usually in the basement or garages of our customers. Thank you!

A:  You would have to rig something. I don't see any kind of latch or catch where a lock could be added. Despite the appearance I don't think it would be confused with a trash can. If concerned about kids putting something in there, just put a piece of broccoli on it and they won't go near it.

A:  Hello, Please contact our Technical Team at (800) 437-8993. Our WaterBoss units do NOT regenerate every day, so you should have no problem with draining.

A:  Just 2 or 3 gallons, and it comes out like if it were a faucet opened at medium. Nothing major nor for long periods at a time. It drains very little in comparison to an open faucet or shower. Nothing major to worry about. Mine would just drain out of the hose into a grassy area in the yard. Never had issues with standing water or mud buildup, and this was in Miami.....where it rains everyday!

A:  Yes, cold water entering the house goes in to the water softener, and the outlet supplies water to the home.
