A: Yes I've had a 100' extension cord on this pump and it ran great. No issues. Make sure it's a 3 prong cord with ground.

A: This is a great pump that moves a lot of water quickly. While I have not used it with an extension cord, it appears from the information that came with the pump that you can use an extension cord. The operating instructions state, “only use an extension cord if necessary”. So if it is necessary to use an extension cord you can, but the instructions also state to consult a gauge chart so that you are using the proper gauge for the length you need.

A: This pump has an 8 running amp motor. If using an extension cord, be sure to use a large enough gauged cord.

Answer This Question
A: Yes it will. I’ve done it numerous times without any issues. One thing is to keep the plug connection dry and out of the water.

A: As long as the receptacle is properly grounded and has the right amperage and voltage ratings, the pump should be fine.

A: The PC4 pump will work if plugged into a regular receptacle but, the safest way to work with electricity around water is to have the pump plugged into a GFCI outlet.

Q:Do you need to Teflon tape the brass connectors that it comes with. Directions don't mention it but seems weird to go brass to cast iron without Teflon tape.

A: Depends on how you are using it. If it was a permanent fixed application yes, I would tape them. I just use it occasionally, so I remove and reattach the hoses as I go.

A: I believe you have to order this pump and pick it up at your local store or have it shipped to your home. I purchased one several years ago. It is solidly built, reliable and performed well when needed. I recommend this product and would buy again.

A: I don't believe this specific model is available. Do a search for "transfer pump" and check off the toggle to show "available in store". This will show you if it is available in the store. If you are lucky enough you may also have a toggle that will allow you to see if those product(s) are available in Home Depot stores nearby. Good luck.

Q:Need to pump lots of water off pool cover. Has a lot of leaves. Will this work for that application?

Answer This Question
A: If you can keep the inlet hose submerged to keep the pump primed and keep it from sucking the leaves and pool cover into the inlet hose, yes. You can wrap the inlet hose with remnant window screen to prevent it from clogging on the leaves. This is a powerful pump. You can hook up a sprinkler to the outlet hose and water your lawn at the same time.

A: I don’t recommend this pump as it is noisy and need to be present to monitor the hose to make sure it is submerged under water. I would prefer a submersible pump designed to pump water on top of the pool cover. It is easy to maneuver and can remove the last bit of water out with ease.

A: Hi , Not quite understand your question: "pump water off a pool cover
. " The pump has one inlet and one outlet. You can use it freely.

A: No. I don't think this would work due to the leaves. It would try to suck in the leaves and burn out the motor. This is built to run the water through the inlet hose and into the pump and out the other hose and out. I would try using a shop vac.
