Assembly is required and instructions a little confusing, but a great lamp overall. It can be hardwired, or wired. If using with plug in outlet, you do not have to using the ground in wire, only use if hardworking (for those who aren't electrically savvy).

Because I didn't want to wire it in or have a cord showing down the wall I used a puck lite instead and it works beautifully! I would recommend this light to anyone in a heart beat -- it works for all kinds of decor.
