Questions and Answers for Westinghouse 4-3/4 in. Acrylic White Dome Clip-On Shade with 7-3/4 in. Width

A:  My lights are all hooked up to wall switches, so I have no issue with pool chains.  I can say that there are no holes in the shade and so if you do have pull chains,  they would probably rub against the side. 

A:  i put this to bulb on the ceiling there was no chain

A:  Thank you for your questions. This clip on shade does not have a hole for a pull chain to go through. If a pull chain turns on/off the fixture, we would not recommend using a clip on shade as a pull chain would lean against the shade and rub and this would make it difficult to turn on/off the fixture.

A:  I had to put it over the top but it worked fine for me

A:  I don't think so. This shade is small and thin plastic. A 100 watt would get too hot.

A:  We are using a 60 watt bulb and it fit perfect

A:  The maximum incandescent light bulb that can be used is a 60 watt maximum incandescent light bulb. We recommend using an A19 shape light bulb. You can also use an LED light bulb with this clip-n shade.

A:  As a 100W equivalent LED bulb puts out very little heat, there should be no problem on that score. The other issue is size: A previous answer from Westinghouse says "This clip on shade should be used with an A19 shaped bulb.... the shape of the bulb used in your typical household lamp." Our LED bulb is 75W equivalent LED and the shade fits just fine, but I'm not at home now so can't do a measurement. I found a source giving the diameters of the four A-size bulbs: A15 bulb: 15/8 = 1-7/8″ diameter A19 bulb: 19/8 = 2-3/8″ diameter A21 bulb: 21/8 = 2-5/8″ diameter A25 bulb: 25/8 = 3-1/8″ diameter

A:  I suspect the bulb will be exposed at eye level on a table lamp --the dome will not come down far enough to shield it.

A:  This clip on acrylic shade needs to be used with a standard A type light bulb and the light bulb cannot exceed 60 watts.

A:  I'd be cautious. Normally this shade is used for a bulb pointing DOWNWARD. The heat would dissipate upward and out over the top of the shade. If the bulb is pointing UPWARD, the bulb's heat might collect in the shade's dome and possibly melt the shade.

A:  Probably, yes. It sits on an A style lightbulb whether LED or the regular ones. Probably not more than 60W bulb if you use the traditional ones since the heat may warp the shade. LED does not produce any heat.

A:  The wire clip inside the shade is somewhat adjustable, you can open and close it, so I think you will be fine. Nice shade for the money really spruces up my husbands man cave/shed.

A:  Oh definitely. The clip is very snug and versatile. I had to work to get it over a standard size bulb. But once it's on, it doesn't move.

A:  Yes, you can use an equivalent LED bulb with the same bulb shape and base size.

A:  Yes, it will

A:  Yes, that's what I have in mine right now.

A:  yes, but painting will probably take away it's ability to shine as well as it does now I believe.

A:  We do not recommend painting the acrylic shade.

A:  The finial does not screw off. This shade get attached to an A19 light bulb by clipping right on the light bulb. You would not be able to thread a pull chain on this shade.

A:  Home Depot stocks a shade online that works with a pull chain. Westinghouse model #8151400.

A:  This clip-on shade would not melt or be flammable in a horizontal position (the bulb would still be positioned with the same clearance from the shade). The maximum wattage for a A shape bulb is 60 watts.

A:  The light bulb is far enough away from the acrylic so t won't melt it.
