Q:Can you use a three way dimmer switch with this fan
by|Jan 17, 2018

Answer This Question

A:  No, you cannot use ANY type of dimmer switch with this ceiling fan. This fan comes with a specific wall control and this wall control needs to be installed and used with this ceiling fan. It is only 1 fan per wall control. This fan also needs a clearance of 10-12' from the blades to the floor as it runs at a very high rate of speed.

A:  The fan comes with its own rotary switch. Five speeds forward / off / five speeds reverse.

A:  You can use a three position fan switch, but not a standard dimmer switch.

      by|May 5, 2023

A:  No! I need a basic high volume fan with no speed controls. I bought this fan a few months ago and realized I couldn’t install the controller on my double switch mounted in my brick wall.

Q:Can I put a 72" drop rod on this fan. My ceiling is 20 feet high wit a 9/12 pitch

A:  A complete installation guide can be viewed via a link on the right-hand side of the product page in order to help you determine if this product will suit your project needs.

        by|May 5, 2023

A:  This fan has a 54-inch lead wire. Unless you can find a way to safely extend or replace the wire, I don't think you can use a 72" drop. Source: http://www.westinghouselighting.com/ceiling-fans/56-inch-ceiling-fan/industrial-56-inch-three-blade-indoor-ceiling-fan,-ball-hanger-installation-system-7812700.aspx The height seems fine though. This fan MUST be installed at 10 feet or greater if you want to keep your fingers. It is very powerful.

          by|May 5, 2023

A:  No, this ceiling fan only comes with a 54" lead wire so therefore the maximum length of the down rod would be a 48 inch down rod. This also needs to be a 1/2 inch diameter down rod by the desired length needed.

            by|May 5, 2023

A:  The wires only allow for a 3' drop rod. It is not recommended to splice wires to use anything longer as it would be a potential problem.

Q:Can I attach a remote control to this fan instead of the wall switch it comes with?

                Answer This Question

A:  No, you can not attach a remote control to this fan.

                by|May 5, 2023

A:  No, you cannot use any type of remote control with this ceiling fan. The only other wall control that can be used is our Westinghouse Lighting item #7787200 and this will change this fan from a 5 speed fan to a 4 speed fan. You can only install 1 fan per wall control. You also need a 10-12 foot clearance from the blades to the floor.

A:  I use a GE Zwave controlled wireless fan controller that works perfectly. I've been using it on two of these for about 8 months without any issues. Also Matt, DO NOT INSTALL THIS AT 8 FEET! It must be 10 feet or higher. It is very powerful and at 8 feet I would be very concerned about my fingers.

A:  Why does it need a 10-12 foot clearance from the blades to the floor? I am planning to purchase this fan and install in one of the room which has 8 ft ceiling. Can this fan be installed in that room?

A:  This fan is designed to be used with this wall controller and only 1 fan per wall controller. The only substitution wall control available for this fan is our 7787200 but this will change this fan from a 5 speed fan to a 4 speed fan. It is only 1 fan per each individual control. There is no control recommend for more than 1 fan.

A:  You can use the one that comes with it, although it sticks out from wall. It will support more then one fan. I did not use the one supplied. Instead, I purchased a rheostat switch.

A:  I used this fan in my A-frame. 26 ft ceiling. It works great to circulate the air. The control works great. As for a different control I dont know. Fan is quiet and great variation in speed.

Q:With the amount of people who are asking if this fan can be used at heights lower than 10 feet, why don't you make a version that will allow this? One that can take a shorter downrod and maybe spin slightly slower. I like the look of this fan a lot but my ceiling is sloped and peaks at 9'4". I want this fan but can only get the blades as high as 8'4" in order to leave room above the blades. The look and affordability of this fan are right, but the height requirement is the only thing preventing the sale.

A:  Can’t go above 9’ for quality air! Ceiling fans shouldn’t be too low where a 6’ person can touch it. Yet in order to receive decent air it has to be around 8’, causing it to be very low. Rod needs to be longer so that the fan can be installed a little higher.

A:  This is an Industrial fan and the blades are metal and run at a high rate of speed. It is the metal blades the require the clearance. They need a clearance of 10-12 feet from the blades to the floor.

A:  You need to have at least a 12' ceiling to hang this fan. You need at least 10-12' feet of clearance from the blades to the floor. This is a safety issue. These blades are metal and this fan runs at a high rate of speed.
