I am very happy with my pergola. It is well made and very sturdy.

The total purchasing experience was flawless and hassle free. Delivery was fast and convenient. I was worried that the product would arrived damaged like some of the reviews mentioned but that wasn't the case. The delivering company was helpful and accommodating. The Pergola arrived in two long boxes and they are extremely heavy. I had it delivered to my garage and then transported the pieces separately to the backyard when it was time for assembly. The boxes did have some small tears but no damage llllto the actual materials. The cedar aroma is strong and somewhat pleasant honestly. The color is rich and perfect. I chose not to apply any additional stain. Because I didn't have any assistance, I chose to hire someone to assemble the Pergola and I also wanted it assembled right away. It took a professional approximately 5 hours and he had to call someone out to assist. It's virtually impossible to assemble it alone. I also believe 3 people could have assembled it even faster. The Pergola is very sturdy. The posts are not solid, but they are constructed very well and feels solid when it's put together. I decided not to anchor it to my concrete slab patio. On a flat surface that's not subjected to high winds, this pergola is not going anywhere. However, I still applied the bases to the post so that the wood wouldn't be directly on the concrete during the rain etc. The Pergola fits my patio perfectly! I was concerned about the actual size. I have a small backyard and patio. The 10 × 12 is perfect. It's not as big as you think, fortunately that worked in my favor. But if you really need the interior space, you should opt for a 12 × 12 or 14 × 14 etc. The dimensions are for the roof overhang not the interior. I believe the look provides a beautiful decor to my backyard and compliments the design of my home perfectly. I just purchased some lights to install on the pergola. Can't wait to see how it turns out. I may add a canopy later. But for now, I love looking at the design and details. Going to fire up the grill and enjoying it. The smell of the cedar combined with the aroma from the grill should be amazing. If you are thinking about buying one, look no further. Order today.

Product came in quickly. We had it delivered to the store and picked it up. Came in two boxes. Instructions were easy to follow. My husband and i put it together by ourself. Would be easier with 3 people, but we managed. It collectively took about 6 hours to assemble, taking our time with no rush. Wood is a nice cedar, but light weight. I anticipate needing to put a new coat of stain on it annually and this need is noted in the instructions. Very fair price for the product. It is a very nice addition to our ourdoor entertaining area

The backyard discovery pergola is exactly what we were hoping it would be. The first wonderful experience was when the shipping company called to let us know it was in on Friday (delivery had been scheduled for Monday) and allowed us the option to go pick it up. This made my husband super happy because he could get started on it over the weekend, 3 days early. Keeping my husband busy is so important since he retired. Next the instructions were easy to follow and everything fit together with no problems (a couple of the screw holes had to be re-drilled for better alignment) but that wasn't a problem. It came with some extra hardware (screws, bolts, washers & nuts) which is always nice in case we lose one during set up. After inventory, my husband put it together basically by himself in 1 day. The only thing he needed me for was to hold a beam. For the price, especially if you compare it to the cost of having one built on site, we got a very, very good deal. The structure is sturdy and looks like solid wood (the posts are hollow) and the completed structure is perfect for pur needs. My husband posted it on his Facebook page and everyone loves it. The feature that stands out the most are the posts. They are stong, sturdy and look really nice. We have not had it long enough to comment on its longevity but feel it will last a very long time. This 10x12 backyard discovery pergola has exceeded our expectations and we would definitely buy it again and recommend it to our friends.

When it was delivered, it was a warm afternoon and it was the only item in the enclosed delivery truck. When the doors was opened, the driver and I both took a deep breath - it smelled heavenly. Kind of silly but there you have it. It came in 2 large boxes - I personally recommend having it delivered as the boxes measure: Box #1 = 23'' wide X 8.5" tall X 115.5" long and Box #2 = 21" wide X 8.5" tall X 115" long. I didn't weigh the boxes but I'm guessing each box weighs 100+ lbs. We took 2 days to assemble it. The first day took less than 1 hour for 1 person (with very little input from a 2nd person & a dog) to assemble the main horizontal pieces. We then left it until the next day when we had a total of 3 people. You absolutely need 3 or 4 people for the final assembly as you need at least 2 people to hold the uprights while a 3rd is fastening the pieces overhead. The 2nd day took about 3 hours so start to finish took us a little less than 4 hours. So if you had 3 people from the beginning, you could do it in 3 hours not including drilling concrete if needed. Tools not included but recommended by manufacturer for installation: cordless drill, level, rubber mallet, square, tape measure, Phillips screw driver, drill bits: Phillips head & socket driver, 3/16” concrete drill bit, ladder. We used a level, square, cordless drill, Phillips screw driver, cordless drill & drill bits, and 2 ladders. All the other tools (2 torque wrenches and 2 torque bits) were included. Everything was so well measured and cut that we didn't need a mallet. We also didn't need a concrete drill as this is in a place in my yard that made it unnecessary to anchor it in such a fashion. I liked that the instructions which come in English and Spanish are in 2 separate booklets. I keep booklets for future reference and always cut off pages not written in English. The instructions were very clear and concise. Everything matched up so well that only one piece had to be drilled out (we used a 1/4" bit) and that was when several pieces had holes that needed to be matched up and one of them was off by just enough to make it necessary. My only complaint would be that I would like to see the long bolts (5/16" X 7 ¼ ") just a tad longer. Even 1/8" would've made it much easier to assemble. You can still do it (obviously) but if they were longer, there would've been a lot less swearing. Again, it was all still fairly easily done, it's just that if those bolts were the tiniest bit longer, it would've been a breeze. Extra hardware is included which is always very nice. I'm trying to find place in my yard for another one of these because I like it SO much.

Step by step, taking your time, the instructions were to point. Zero complaints. Love it.

Beautiful and easy to assemble.

After reading some reviews I got a little worried as assemble took 8+ hours or even days for some. I started the assemble at about noon and four hours later was finished putting light on it. The wood is very soft and doesn't take much to scar. All in all it looks good, but wouldn't pay full retail price for it.

It was fairly simple to put together. You’ll want an extra set of hands. When all is put together and tightened it is a pretty solid structure and it looks very nice. I am very pleased with the quality and workmanship.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our family came over and saw it for the first time July 4th and absolutely loved it! I built a ground level wooden deck 12x10 and installed our Pergola on top of that!

Be aware on the measurements that 10x12 is the measurements to the tips of the longest boards on the roof that stick out. It is actually 7x9 from inside each corner post to the inside of corner posts. Some holes were off and some boards were slightly warped. Uprights are nice and straight as are the main joists... Plan on taking several days to build and have strong fourth person handy if you decide to move it after it is up. We planted an English Ivy that we are hoping will grow up and fill in the roof. Nice addition to our septic tank area since we can't plant trees there :)

This item will be a great addition to our Pool area and back yard.

This pergola looks great and was pretty easy for my husband and I to put together about two weeks ago. We did have to get another person or two to help support the sides while we put them together a couple of times but the majority we did alone. Some tips: 1. We watched video on YouTube that helped with getting started. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fovta-7CZw0 2. Check all of the pieces of each type to make sure they are the same. One of our top side boards had the holes misaligned by about 1/2 inch which affected the placement of the other boards. Luckily that ended up being the side that faced away from our house since we didn't catch it until we almost were finished. 3. The final step is putting the small boards on the top and they come in two pieces for each row. We agreed that, if we had it to do over, we would follow the directions for lining them up (the joints alternate), glue each of the two section pieces together to make one board (be sure to use a screw to line them up correctly as they dry and don't use so much glue that the screw gets glued into place!) and then screw them into place on top. It would make the process go more easily. 4. We also did have some issues getting the concrete screws in place so think about having the right tools for that before you start. (There are stones around the base of each post in the picture but that is just because we haven't figured out what to do with all the extra stones from building the house yet!)

bough this one 3 years ago. we are enjoying it, survived the hail, the wind storms and any other bad weather we have in tx. we hired people to put it together. suggestion to future buyers make sure to build the deck bigger than 10X12. do at lest 2 feet bigger than dimensions (12X14) another suggestion put a roof covering before putting the roof on pergola.yeah, sounds basis, but we did not think of it. awesome buy for an awesome price. i am about to purchase another one.

I really like this product. Two of my friends help me to install it and we were done in approximately 6 to 8 hours if we extract de 2 hours in between for beer and pizza. It took me about 8 hours to pre-stain/seal each piece at a time, but I prefer that option than stain after installation. I personally did not like the anchors I wish they had better screws for that purpose. I did have to enlarge one predrill hole for a D6 Joist End. Other than that the installation was flawless. friends were invaluable for leveling and squaring posts during anchoring. All in all my wife loves it and I love it.

It is nice. I bought heavier cement anchors but other than that installation was straight forward.

Backyard Discovery must have made improvements to the QA of this product because mine fit together perfectly! The most time consuming part was re-staining it to fit the look I was going for, but it was well worth it. I was able to set it up over the course of an afternoon and couldn't be happier with the end result. At this price point and the ease of setup, I wouldn't recommend any other pergola.

My wife and I assembled the Pergola in our spare time so I don't know how long it took altogether. We were very careful to level everything and all the holes lined up. We used concrete base on the four posts but found it hard to align the concrete adapters to the posts. The only other thing we had problems with was the stabilizers. They seamed to be warped and had to be redrilled and set in place by eye. Overall I was happy with the Pergola.

Excellent, well built pergola. The TOTAL dimensions are 10x12 but with the legs the inside dimensions are only 6x9. This is important if you are trying to fit specific furniture. I hv had it 1 week and we put a clear sealant on it. Love it so far.

Outstanding product, the backyard discovery line is high quality, well designed and easy to assemble as long as your not a novice. I would recommend having a person to help you put it together, this pergola is big! We also have a swing set from this company and have gotten six solid years of service so far.

Bought it last summer. With a little help from the wife I had it up in about 3 hours.

Turned out beautiful!! Easy assembly....except you should have at least 3 capable adults Instead of 2 as noted in the instructions . We are very pleased with the pergola and have been showing it off to all our family and friends . We highly recommend this product to anyone interested in installing one. 2 BIG THUMBS UP!!
