I bought 2 units for my closet. Easy to assemble and mount to the wall. I decidedly to add drawers and use one of the shelves as a top for the unit. Worked out beautifully for my closet wall size.

I love the end product but ...
So, I purchased this Closet Evolution system as part of a much larger overall order from Closet Evolution. I combined a few systems and components to build my walk-in closet using their easy-to-use design website. I'm going to list my overall experience here. First, the design website is easy-to-use, www.closetevolution.com, and when you're finished click on checkout it takes you to the Home Depot website and pre-populates your shopping cart with everything you need. That's a piece of cake. However, it took nearly 6 weeks to receive from the manufacturer, and yes I know there's a lot going on with a pandemic and what-not. Once I received the order I was amazed that it came on a pallet, with approx. 16 boxes on it (that's because of my custom order). These pieces are boxes very well with a lot of extra cardboard cushion, so even damaged edges wouldn't hurt the boards, kudos to the shipping department. The system components are rugged and sturdy, it is particle board but it's thick and durable. The laminate coating on mine was hit and miss on the edges, some of the edge trim was defective when it was applied or it was chipped off before it shipped. The instructions are extremely lacking. If you're buying just a single purchase item you're fine, but if you're combining items to make a much larger system you're pretty much on your own to figure it out. If you're pretty good at DIY stuff you'll figure it out fairly quickly, but it can be overwhelming at first glance. The track mounts on the wall, no items are supported on the floor. This is good in that you have room underneath all of the system components to possibly put a shoe rack or lay things on the floor, who wouldn't want the extra space. The downside is that, if you're like me, you have a home that has walls that are not perfectly straight. Don't get me wrong, the system works fine if you have some sway or wave to your walls, however, if you have some severely bowed walls you'll probably have to find a way to shim the track and components off the wall a little so everything lines up right. My walls are not the fault of the Closet Evolution, but it was a bit of a hurdle in a couple locations. You are required to have the track mounted to studs within 3" of every hanging panel, and if you don't have that, you need to use they're toggle bolt anchors. I actually liked these drywall anchors, they seem very sturdy and I was more comfortable using those than any standard drywall anchor. I did have a couple that had some messed up threads on them and wouldn't allow the bolts to screw in all the way, and it caused them to break off in the wall, but they provide you several to use just in case. The drawers are one of the neatest factors of the system. They are one long set of boards that have been cut to fold perfectly into a drawer with dowels already inserted. Each drawer takes less than 5 minutes to assemble. The one thing that I really didn't like is that the holes are not predrilled for the drawer slides, they provide you a template that you tape in place and then make screw marks through the template onto the wood so you can screw the slides on in the right place. I think this is an overlooked con of the whole thing. I guess there are different sized slides that you can get from them and that's why they aren't predrilled, but if that's the case they should've just predrilled the holes for both sizes and the customer could whichever set works for them. And let's not forget how much oil from the slides you get on your hand while performing this step. I also had 2 of the 6 drawer faces not line up with the other drawers, and it seems that it was the predrilled holes on the drawer faces that were misaligned. That's an easy fix, but still. Another thing I didn't like to do, but knew that I had to do, was cut the clothes hanging rods to the size I needed. Other systems I've used and seen give you an adjustable rod which would also just make the whole installation go faster. Altogether the system is beautiful and very functional. This turned my old terrible looking and unorganized closet into just what I was looking for and needed. It took more time to assemble than I really thought it would, however, I installed a competitor's system in my wife's closet and I can't say that went too much faster even though it was easier to install because it was floor supported. Knowing what I know now, yes I would buy this system again, because once I got the hang of it, it really wasn't that bad. I do think it's over-priced, but it is in the same ball park as all of the other systems, so I guess all closet organization systems are over-priced.

This is a debatable system I would recommend to anyone. It is time consuming, our large project took 9 hours to install. The system also is assuming your walls are straight which most are not, had to do some shimming to get thing to line up. 1) A table saw is a MUST if you are going to cut more then a few boards. With our project we had to cut 16 boards and to get straight lines over that many boards was no practical or possible. 2) Buy quality wall anchors of your own. The ones that come with this system are a joke and break really easy. Especially if you miss align the screw in the wall and then it breaks, now you have a useless hole. 3) Be sure to have an extra shelf or 2 handy. I had to add shelves in some areas to stabilize the unit otherwise the rods will pop right off, since the sidewall are just hanging there. Overall I would give this system a 3.5 star. Looks good when finished but not an easy process.

Product is functional, fairly easy to install and has a good look to it. For the price, I would have liked it to look a little more custom built. The instructions when combining their different kits could be a little more clear.

I have installed a half dozen closets using Martha Stewart Closets. Be careful to select mostly STANDARD sizes and limit the parts that must be cut to custom. Most closets space sizes work well for standard parts. The system could not be easier to install. The parts are all very good quality. I have never received damaged product. Everything fits precisely, except the drawers. The drawers are much better quality than they were a few years ago. The drawers still could be a little better. the fit is not great. I put these in my $900k house in MN and am proud to show them off. These are nice quality products.

This is an awesome closet organizer system. Stylish, incredibly easy to assemble and flexible in design. You can modify the whole design at the last minute with the interchangeable parts. The directions to build were very clear, requiring minimal tools or skills, luckily for me. Truly, it is brilliantly designed and I love it. I gained about 30% more closet space with this efficiency. H-O-W-E-V-E-R, the packaging is horrible and the longer boards arrived broken. Not once. Not twice. On the third replacement (7-9 business days for each delivery), I gave up and just used the chipped boards. Not happy, but after a month of my master closet innards still spewed all over the living room sofa, I was exasperated and wanted it over with and order restored to my home. Both the distributor and Home Depot service personnel were very sympathetic and helpful. They ended up credited me for half of my large order, but ultimately I would have preferred an unblemished product. So my advice: order twice the 72" boards you need and you can return what's unused. The 48" boards fared better in shipping, but until they learn to wrap all these particle boards in kraft paper, they will rub against each other and the metal hardware, poles, etc. and chip. Good luck!

The thing I didn't like was that there were no instructions included (I obtained them online) and when I did get them they didn't say that I would need to split the rail because the 36" unit is too wide for the rail. Otherwise a pretty nice unit.

Custom designed closet at a very reasonable price
I am actually reviewing the entire closet system I purchased not just the starter kit. I custom-designed a closet on-line. it arrived very promptly - actually sooner than anticipated. Since it was custom-designed it did not come with instructions. So between the instructional video on the web site and the separate piece instructions in the packages, I figured it out. It took much longer than anticipated to install it but part of it was me making sure I was doing it right. It looks amazing and I've received compliments on "my handiwork." Great value as I'm sure it would have cost 2x this amount to have a closet company do the work.

          Better than Expected
First I want to say that this review, for the sake of efficiency, should include the Martha Stewart drawers as well. We had two identical reach in closets next to each other in our master bedroom. We knocked out the wall between them and took the old wire and plastic closet organizers out. I went on the Home Depot website and then to the link for the Martha Stewart Closet Design which is where I designed our closets. It was easy and I liked doing it. We wanted less furniture in our bedroom so our closet design had one of these closet starter kits with four drawers in the center and then we added two more 'kits' on each side for a total of five kits with half hanging 'tops' and four drawers on each kit bottom. We have twenty drawers--five, four inch deep across and fifteen, eight inch below. Our nephew did most of the installation work and my husband put most of the drawers together. They both were very impressed with the quality of all the pieces and parts and how well everything worked. It is beautiful and functional. We are thrilled with it. The cost is considerably less than the other three closet systems we considered, but the quality was the same or better. The drawers slide quietly and smoothly. I am including a photo although this was taken when we still had some 'work stuff'' lying around and it is visible--so excuse our 'whatnot' but we are very excited about our new Home Depot, Martha Stewart closet system We plan on using the space above the closet system for seasonal clothes and bedding and the space below for shoes. The spaces on either side (minimal), will have hooks for scarves, ties, etc. And before I forget---the free shipping came two days early; the truck driver put it in my garage (it was raining and my husband wasn't home). Every piece and part was included; nothing was missing; nothing was damaged. This was a 'project made in paradise'.

          Martha Steward Closet System
The Martha Steward closet rail system made it easy to install the closet panels. The hanging rods was a breeze to install, we were impress how much weight the hanging rods could hold.

          Great quality for the price
I bought this system to complete our Master bedroom and Master closet remodel. I wasn't too sure of the quality to expect for this price point, especially after looking at many similar systems that were a lot more expensive. I bought the 4 ft. - 8 ft. Espresso Deluxe Starter Closet Kit, 72 inch Espresso Hanging Starter Closet Kit, 48 in. Espresso Vertical Panels (2-Pack), 4 of the 24 inch Espresso Shelves (2-Pack), 4 of the 35 inch Espresso Shelves (2-Pack) and an additional 32 inch closet System Rail. This allowed me to have 1 wall of that included 96 inches of double hanging, and 24 inches of long hanging for my wife’s dresses. It also gave me two 72 inch towers, one tower with 24 inch shelves and one tower with 35 inch shelves. My decision in what to buy was based on using the Martha Stewart closet design website. After I entered my room dimensions and edited the recommendation to suit our needs, the website gave me the list of things I needed to buy through Home Depot’s website. I was able to install the entire closet system by myself in under 2.5 hours (My pregnant wife watch silently in amazement from our bed). I think the most difficult part for most people will be cutting the metal rails to the correct size. The instructions suggest using a hacksaw. Fortunately for me I just bought a Dremel 4200 on Black Friday that came with a metal cutting wheel that made short work of cutting the rails for me. I think the photos do not do justice to the completed project. But my toughest critics (the lovely wife) absolutely loves who new closet. She even shares part of it with me.

            Great closet system
My husband and I installed this closet in master bedroom walk-in. Took a weekend to complete from fresh coat of paint to small details to give it a more custom look. The only issue we had was the very first kit we opened was missing the hardware. We ended up with extras from the other kits we purchased so it didn't hold us up, thankfully. I would recommend this closet system. The ordering was easy and installation was simple.

              Great closet system...
This is a very sturdy, functional, and practical closet system from every aspect. It is also very adaptable to merge with existing closet systems. Price was great with free delivery but one of the boxes had obvious damage and some of the shelves inside this box were nicked up a little. If I had to use all of the shelves I would be making a return or exchange. However, I couldn't use all of them and was able to use undamaged pieces to complete our project.

              Better than I thought
Turned bedroom into my closet. I had a company give me an estimate of $6,000.00! I had a private contractor put up the martha stewart closet system at a fraction of the price. Looks expensive, but time will tell if it will last long term..i certainly hope so.....very pleased at this time

                Love this!
I have done 3 reach in closets with Martha Stewart Closets and I love the quality and the look! Nice and sturdy. My dad helped me install them. The hardest part is getting the bracket up across the back, just in getting it level and all. Once that part is done the rest is like putting together a puzzle. After doing 2, the 3rd one was a piece of cake! I refered back to the other two to decide where I wanted shelves, etc. If you think about the cost of buying a dresser and the cost of installing a closet organizer with a dresser in it, pricewise it comes out just about the same. I'm VERY happy with my purchase!

                Easy to Install
We were renovating a rectangular, walk-in closet (100" x 75") and ordered two 4' to 8' units, one for each side and the 72" starter unit to go on the end. We were worried about some of the reports of the product arriving with damage, but ours arrived in perfect condition. As far as installation goes, the first day I demo'ed the old closet and painted it. The second FULL day I installed the new closet. Installation was really easy, but I am a handy guy with experience using tools and the like. But the design couldn't be easier. Follow the instructions and install the rail at the proper height, make sure it's secured to studs or use the enclosed molly's when needed, make sure it's level and that's it. The frames just hang from this rail and can be slid and adjust as needed until it's the way you like it. Then we Installed the rods and shelves (we didn't get any drawers) and we're done. We were really surprised how easy it was.

Easy, simple solution to organize closets.
This is the third closet that we used Martha Stewart’s closet units. Again, we found the unit easy to install. In this closet we only had coats and shoes stored; now with the new shelving units we can store additional items. The units created more space and helped us organize. The directions are an easy read, the units are not complicated to install.

                Use this for smaller closets
Very nice looking, a fraction of the cost of professionally installed closets. I have ordered two of these closets online and never experienced any problem with broken or chipped prices, but I can understand how it might happen. Excellent product for converting a closet into a pantry or linen closet. If you need to cut the shelves, as I did, they cut smoothly, the melamine did not chip. The vertical panels let you use every inch of space, unlike the elfa system, which is also much more expensive. Absolutely recommend. I used a handyman for installing because I have had bad luck with hanging shelves in the past and the whole system rests on a metal rack that must be bolted into studs. Once you have that set, you can reconfigure with ease.

I love this closet. It was super simple to put up. The instructions were simple and the color was beautiful. I purchased 10 of these and the outcome was amazing. I will be purchasing a kit for every bit of storage space that I have. It is very appealing to the eye as well if put together properly.

Exactly what I was looking for!
My wife has always wanted a walk-in closet. Recently we had a bedroom open up so we made plans to use that as her walk in. I looked around at several different manaufacturers and decided that, for our budget, this unit would be a great test piece that we can build off of. Ordering/Delivery: Shipping was great - got the unit a day early. One end was a little bumped up, so my UPS guy and I opened the box and inspected it - no damage and no scratches. Perfect. Installation/construction: Easier than the diections! The directions went through a step by step process down to how to mount the baracket if studs were not within 3 inches of the panels. I lucked out and my panaels were directly over the studs. 2 screws, a level, a capenters pencil, and a measuring tape. Add 10 minutes and a cordless screwdriver, shake-well, and you have the bracket mounted. The instructions call for you to assemble the wall unit on the floor and then mount it to the bracket. Well, your truly blew his back out yesterday while cleaning the garage, but promised the wife it would be up by Monday! Hey, no problem - at first I was worried because I have read several people say it takes two people to mount this puppy. Secret - outhink the directions. I placed the panels on the track, measured the shelf width, taped the panels into place with the level and screwed the shelves on the mounted panels. The whole process took about 10 minutes. once that was done, I made sure that everything was square, again with the level, mounted the bottom brace and the top clothes bar in about 5 minutes. Conclusion: For the money, this is a great product. Many of the negative reviews sound like they are related to shipping issues. The installation was a snap for one person. With a little forethought, you can get this bad-boy up in about 25 minutes. For my money, this was a great purchase and I will be completing the rest of the wife's dream closet using this product line. PS- I am not a big fan of Martha, so that in no way influenced the positive tone of this review.

I used several of these as well as other parts of the system (shelves, drawers and lots more shelves) to replace the wire closet shelving system in our walk in closet. If you take the time on the web site to plan out the system correctly, it assembles very easily.
