The light emitted is a good color. An LED bulb seems brighter than a 40W incandescant. When dimmed, the light does not change color.

Tried these bulbs recently. They produce a very traditional incandescent like light, are very bright for a 40w and have a good dimming action. But boy do these things buzz. Tried replacing my dimmer switch with one specifically for LED/CFL bulbs with no change to the buzzing sound. Returned these for the Ecosmart 40w bulbs and they were completely silent. These Cree might be a poor choice if you intend to put them on a dimmer switch.

We recently replaced most of the lightbulbs in the house with Cree bulbs, because they are all-around excellent. We'll see if they last 25 years, but in the 6 months we've been using them, we've seen a definite drop in electricity use, and they are attractive and give off a nice light. The 40 watt seems brighter than a 40W incandescent. We like the soft white better than the daylight option in terms of the warmth of the glow. Very good product and the price has dropped a lot very quickly. I only wish Cree offered a flood version in the 4-inch can size.

So I bought this to be used with a dimmer in my baby's room. It's dimmable, all right. But noisy! When in full brightness it works as any other LED bulb, but dim it and it becomes noisy. So much that I had to return it and not take a chance with another not well tested product, so I bought regular filament based bulb - no noise anymore.

This product produces as much light as an incandescent bulb and much more light than a CFL bulb. The price was great and should last much longer than incandescent and CFL bulbs.

Is bright like a 60 watts regular bulbs but my light bill is coming down every month...

Despite the $10 a bulb (my fan requires 3 bulbs), they're pretty nice. They have a coating on them that makes it cool to the touch even after hours of being on. My wife and I bought our house last year and as strange as it seems, after replacing all of the light bulbs in our house, our electric bill this month was $100 cheaper than its ever been. My living room has a dimmer and my wife's only complaint (which doesn't bother me at all) is that the dimmer must be turned to maximum brightness before you can dim it back down. Our other lights started at a low brightness and went up from there. Otherwise, yeah, it's a light bulb.

With the demise of standard incandescent bulbs we are left with compact fluorescents and more recently LEDs. CREE got the price down on LED's to the point they are a viable substitute especially with the long service life, a replacement for hard to reach locations. Anything to keep my 77 year old body off of high ladders. I'm slowly replacing all of the ceiling and fan lights with CREE LEDs. Of course, having a lamp that produces the same light for about 20% of the energy is another plus. I have some other brand LEDs and while they work fine, some have a delay ( 3 or 4) seconds before coming on. The Cree is instant on, no delay

LEDs are known for their efficiency but the high initial costs and color of the light have been negatives until now. I'm skipping over the CFLs and going to LEDs

These work great in non-dimmer applications but they hum fairly loudly when used with two different dimmers in my home. Couldn't use them with a dimmer, as they were just too loud.

Put these in a chandelier in the dining room and in the bathroom lights. It's a nice, warm light, though brighter than I thought it would be. Bulbs come on instantly and don't have to warm up like the cfls that were in the house. They are also cool to the touch which is nice. I only hope they last as long as advertised.

I can't say enough about LED bulbs. The price on LED bulbs is still high so buy when they are on sell! I have about 90% LED lighting in my home. My monthly AVERAGE electric bill is $110.00 a month. Yes, I do have gas heat, gas water heater and a gas stove. I have 6 exterior lights that burn all night. A home in the South with an older a/c unit. LED bulbs are not the only energy-efficient things I am doing but they add to my savings and I will continue to buy and use them.

LED lighting has been great! They are getting better all the time.

these led lamps are ok, I find they have a flicker to them when operating for a while it isn't a constant flicker but a flicker none the less but are located in my outdoor lights so I don't mind much.

This is a good LED 40 watt bulb which I am now using in my ceiling fans. I am glad they don't have the dangerous mercury. I only wish they came in Daylight, but they are only available in Soft White.

The light is soft, the price is right, what more can I say?

It puts out a nice light, it uses less power, it is a good price and should last a long time. Very nice product. Also great packaging.

The lights are great. If you don't want to dim them they are great! I have tried 2 or 3 different dimmers and they all cause the lights to hum. I will keep trying other dimmers.

These bulbs are awesome. When in for some CFL's, and decided to try these thanks to the display. Very similar in color tone to incandescent, light instantly and fully dimmable. Fantastic energy savings over time, and made in the USA. What's not to love?

I replaced over 40 bulbs in my house with Cree 40W LEDs. It was a big investment but a very good one. I replaced all my 60W CFLs that I've had for 7 years. Found that the 40W LEDs are brighter then the CFLs, come on instantly, and have a very nice color to them. Also like the rubber type coating so if you accidentally drop a bulb the glass stays contained within that coating. After a lot a research I feel it was an excellent investment! Strongly recommend Cree bulbs.

Very happy with natural soft light,runs cool,looking forward to long bulb life and energy savings.

This bulb is a good buy at the price, HOWEVER, you have to be careful because of the fat base. It might not fit into every lamp that you want to put it in. I had to buy one of those "extenders" that are really photocell units so that I could use the Cree bulb in my lamp. All I did was cover up the electric eye because the lamp is on a timer.

The light bulbs work great in temperatures well below zero

Of all the LED bulbs I've purchased, I like the CREE the best. The color temperature matches standard incandescent lighting and the intensity is true to form. I have replaced most of my household lights with Cree LED bulbs. Not only do they consume less energy, but they don't generate the heat that an incandescent bulb does.

Soft, warm light and instant on . . . So much better than the CFL bulbs they replaced-- and use about half the energy of the CFL bulbs.

Best price around. Great light, best incandescent equivalent I've found yet. My wife is picky about lighting and she even likes them. The energy savings is a major plus.

These bulbs were purchased with the hope of saving money on electricity. I have not yet received my bill since using them, but I like the brightness of these bulbs.
