A great basic inverter by DeWalt - just know its limitations
A great basic inverter - just know its limitations. Just because you can plug something in does not mean you will have enough power from this small unit. The DeWalt DXAEPI140 inverter will deliver 120 volts AC but at a maximum 1.16 amps; USB output up to 3.1 amps. Going backwards, the 140watt rating divided by 120 volts yields 1.16 amps. Your circular saw will obviously not work at 1.1 amps! (There are larger inverters if you want to run a power tool.) Also, some complain it won't charge DeWalt batteries. I looked at two of my DeWalt battery chargers, one requires 1.5 amps and the other 3 amps. Both require more amps than this 1.16 amp unit. Having said that, this is a solid, heavy duty unit that will last for items requiring low amp draws. My older inverter to run my laptop had an on-off switch, this one has an on button and an automatic shut off - even better. The unit's 3-foot cord is a handy length. It has a built-in circuit breaker and low battery protection. I have a 120 VAC 0.5 amp fan; this inverter ran it perfectly on LOW and HIGH. For what it is rated to do, it works just fine. A nice compact unit for low amperage AC and normal 5v 3.1 amp USB items.

Very useable device
This DeWalt Car Power Inverter changes your car’s 12 Volt DC (Direct Current) power to full 120 Volt AC (Alternating Current - same as your household outlets) to power your laptops or other SMALL devices using a standard electrical plug. Providing 140 Watts of energy it can do a lightbulb, if needed, but not something like a hair dryer, which needs ten times that wattage. There are also two Original Classic USB sockets. The heavy-duty cord from the cigarette lighter outlet is long enough for the Inverter to sit in your cupholder or on the passenger seat or on the floor.

Great converter to have
Great converted to have in your car if you are traveling with cans or if you were working remote. I like the extra heavy duty fuel to the converter it has one regular outlet and two USB port which is probably more than sufficient. It will be in my car as an emergency. Not sure if or how much battery power it consumes if left plugged in. Either way, nice to have.

Very durable, quiet, and great accessory for any vehicle.
I will go over some specification's and features then share my personal experience with this inverter. The package includes the inverter, mount, mounting hardware (2x screws or 2 x double sided tape), quick reference guide, and an instruction manual. The inverter has a 120v 60hz 1 amp outlet and 2 x 5V 3.1 amp max output USB ports. Each output has a protective cover. It has a total output power of 140 watts for an hour or 120 watts continous use. Most vehicles lighter sockets only support up to 110w to 120w. To know for sure you can check your fuse box or cars manual. Keep that in mind if you are using this in your vehicle. This unit has a built in fuse but the fuse in your vehicle will most likely blow before the replaceable fuse in this inverter. Electronics usually have stickers showing their power consumption but if for some reason yours doesn't then you can get a cheap power monitor like the Poiine in my photos. This unit has a nice thick 14 gauge 3 ft. power cord. The 12v DC plug is durable, fits tight, and has a replacement fuse. It has a power button with LED. There is a built in removable bracket for hanging and mounting this unit. You can mount it with the included screws or double sided tape. Once mounted this inverter can slide on and off the mount. Most inverters have a loud fan but this one does not. My first impression of this inverter was it feels solid and very durable. I have always been into different little gadgets. I tested this inverter in my vehicle, with a ryobi inverter, and with my home-made inverter I made out of an old Ryobi charger. It performed great in each situation. I like sitting and watching TV outside when I have free time. I used this and my home made power supply to power a TV and Firestick with a Ryobi battery. I use it in my car to charge my tool batteries. This would be a great gadget for truck drivers, road trips, power stations, power outages, camping, etc... I like that it has a power button. When it's off there is no light, when you power it on it lights up blue, and if you encounter a problem it is supposed to blink red. All vehicles are different, some vehicles the lighter socket powers off when the key is turned off but other vehicles the power stays on even when the key is taken out. It all depends on how it's wired. Having a power button is great for the people who have a live socket when the cars not running to save their battery from draining. I mounted the included bracket on my dashboard so I can hang this inverter when I'm using it and easily slide it off when not in use. I did not use the included hardware. I used gorilla double sided tape. I was very impressed with this inverter. I actually ended up grabbing another one for a project I am working on. I am building a new portable power supply. This is not a pure sinewave inverter so some sensitive electronics may not work properly on the 120v but will work fine through the USB ports. I have not had a problem with this running any of my devices. Again, do not over load your lighter socket. To figure out how many watts your vehicle socket can handle either check the manual or check your fuse box. Volts x Amps = watts. If you have a 12 volt battery and a 10 amp fuse then the socket can only handle up to 120 watts 12v x 10a = 120w. You can also use this math to determine an electronics power consumption. Multiply the voltage and the Amps to get how many watts it will consume. I have read some negative reviews about this inverter because of user errors. Don't try to run a 1,500 watt power tool through 140 watt inverter. This is definitely a great item to keep in your vehicle.

Must have when on the go
I knew this adapter would be handy but it's been an essential item to bring along for camping and road trips. We drain batteries in devices pretty quickly and having two additional usb ports and an outlet has kept up with our needs. The port protectors that cover the not in use outlets was smart and has kept the device dry even with wet and muddy conditions. The device is rugged and the cord is very strong, it tucks between seats pretty easily, love this little charger.

Good low watt inverter
The DeWALT 140-watt power inverter is built for low wattage items – phones, tablets, laptop, radios, etc. It needs to be kept dry, cool, and requires ventilation. The inverter will provide 140 watts for 60 minutes and 120 watts continuous. The inverter comes with a couple small mounting screws and double-sided tape strips. I wish the 3-foot power cord was longer and it had a hook or a clip that could hang on the back of the seat pocket. I don’t want to mount it permanently as I have two cars that I want to move the inverter between. I plan to use the inverter to provide additional power to the backs seats for the kids to keep their devices charged on long road trips. The short power cord makes it harder to find a spot where it gets ventilation but is not constantly in the way. So far it worked just fine charging a couple iPhones or an iPhone and an iPad. I like the form factor and function.

The wire can be tucked in between the front seats and you can charge your stuff in the back seat.
I choose the DEWALT 140-Watt Portable Car Power Inverter with Dual USB Ports for charging my laptop while on the road. I like that the inverter can power 140 watts which is enough to power and charge my laptops battery and at the same time charge my phone. I also like that the inverter is very compacted, not like some others that are bulky. The wire can be tucked in between the front seats and you can charge your stuff in the back seat.

Handy
I tried out my new Dewalt 140-Watt portable power inverter today; at first, when I tried to charge a 12-volt power tool battery, The status light blinked blue, then red, meaning there was a problem. So, after I read the directions, I plugged in the battery charger first with no battery in it, then inserted the battery; the power inverter worked perfectly this time. This power inverter should be safe to charge phones, tablets, etc. Overall, this will be a handy item to have with me if I need to charge power tool batteries etc., in between jobs while on the road. Also, it comes with a mounting bracket.

Great for Travel
This DEWALT 140 watt inverter is the perfect companion when traveling. With two USB ports and one 110 volt plug, it is now easy to charge out devices on the go. From our cell phones to my tablet and anything else that needs charging on the go, having this unit with us keeps us full charge ready after a long ride. Especially if we are using a travel app that we get live traffic updates, we don’t want to run out of power. This is a must have travel accessory and this DEWALT 140 watt inverter is just what we needed.

Heavy Duty!!
Now this is heavy duty. This looks like it will last a lifetime which is the quality I expect from Dewalt. Unit features 2 USB ports and a standard AC outlet This will be super helpful on road trips. Operates silently and plus right into your power outlet in your vehicle. Surprisingly it only carries a one year warranty which is disappointing. Ultimately this is the power adapter to pickup if you’re looking for one.

Portable and have enough power to drive 2 laptops
This inverter doesn't consume more than 15amp at 12V and can be driven for lighter power socket. I have 2 kids who have intel laptops that can't be powered from USB chargers. Their power supplies are rated at 65W and can be driven by this inverter via splitter simultaneously. Which is great for long trips to keep them occupied. It also got 2 usb ports that rated at 3.1Amp which is significantly higher than my car built-in USB outlets. I also have 120V air compressor that rated at 1.1Amp and can be driven from this inverter for short period of time. I kept this compressor in my garage to add air during colder months, but now I can keep it in the car with a small extension cord. The inverter is engineered to stand up overloads as it has 14 gauge 12V wire. It's got plenty of ventilation slits for cooling. High frequency buck converter inside is very efficient. 120V 9W LED lamp was consuming only .74Amp at 12.5V before conversion. That is 12.5 x .074 = 9.25W or very close to nominal bulb power with conversion efficiency around 9W / 9.25W = 0.973 ~ 97%. Inverter also has detachable mount that can be either tape glued or screwed to car interior trim. Both, double sided tape and screws are also included.

Heavy duty well constructed inverter
This is a quality built heavy duty inverter with thick wires, robust lighter socket plug and basically is constructed very well. Actually way too heavy duty for my purposes. I thought I'd plug it into my car socket and charge my phone and a laptop, and maybe a small appliance. But here where it stops. The problem is, my car sockets are rated for 10 amps, while this inverter pulls 12 amps possibly blowing a fuse as a result. As per instructions, the fuse must be rated higher than 15 amps which isn't happening here. Can't use the Dewalt inverter in my car but can definitely recommend it to someone whose vehicle sockets are rated for 15 amps.

Works great for my needs!
I use the DeWalt 140-Watt Inverter in my Honda Ridgeline pickup. It allows me to charge and/or run my laptop computer and the two USB ports on the DeWalt Inverter charges my smartphone and tablet faster than the factory USB ports in the Ridgeline. I also use it in the back of our Jeep Wrangler to charge portable radios and spotlights. One can never have too many USB ports!

      Can't charge a small laptop
I bought this so I could charge a laptop while working from am F150. The laptop charging adapter says 130watts and this inverter will not go. Seems like it was a nice robust device, but it's useless if it can't even keep up with its paltry rated output.

I have only had this for two months and with my engine running the power cuts in and out, shutting off my laptop computer. Don’t waste your money.
