    Time runs backward
My issue is the clock runs backwards. I set current time for 6 pm, and two hours later it says 4 pm but 8 pm. Really super frustrating. I have reset the time now for the last 5 days. May just throw it away.

    Pin Timer
Threw it in the trash after one hour of buying. Could not push the points down as stated in instructions.

Simple Enough to Use Thanks to Instructions in Reviews
This timer works but as so many other reviewers have noted, instructions were NOT included. The only reason I knew how to operate the device was because I took the time to read the reviews before buying it. This seems like a somewhat minor oversight on the part of GE. Still, I did buy it and the timer works just fine, so I guess the company doesn't have much incentive to change.

        We'll see...
We just needed this for our food dehydrator which doesn't require a lot of pinpoint accuracy. We haven't had it that long so I'm not sure about it's durability. I'm an engineer, so I'm a little concerned about all of the tiny parts that play a role in setting the time. You have to push in tiny little buttons that are located all the way around the face of the timer. So, you would push down everything between 2 and 4pm if you needed to run for 2 hours. That is 4 to 5 tiny buttons you push in. You can override the timer with a single switch to make it a standard plug. We'll see over time...

PaleRider, the timer has a proven track record for reliability so I wouldn’t worry about all the plastic tabs around the dial or the gears inside. Jasco Products Tech Support (Manufacturer) GETechSupport

Good price and easy to program
We are getting ready for vacation and wanted some basic timer to turn the upstairs and downstairs lamps on and off at specific times. These timers work great with no issues whatsoever. The initial programming may be a little bit of "hit and miss", but once you figure out that the timers come with all the pins in the ON position the rest is a breeze. You lift up all the pins and you push only the times (30 min increment) that are needed and voilà! Definitely a good product at a great price!

Pull the tabs up then push them down. Directions are not real clear on that

Jewel, the instructions state to be sure all segments are pushed up before programing. The tabs should be in the up position be default but sometimes during shipping they will get pushed down. If the tabs are flush with the dial then they are in the down position and will need to be pushed up. Jasco Products Tech Support (Manufacturer) GETechSupport

How much electricity does the timer use?
For a light in a dark place, we want it on 18or 20 hours every day. A new LED bulb burns only 8 watts. (some even less). The timer will run 24 hours daily. IF its label told me the timer's own power consumption I could calculate whether it is better to just leave the 8 watt bulb on all the time. But NO INFORMATION re that!!!

Timer Works Fine--- Note my thoughts on pushing down tabs
Timer easy to program and works fine. Two notes on setting the programming tabs: 1) All the tabs were pushed down on both timers purchased. Follow the instructions and push up on tabs to make sure they are all in the up position before pushing tabs down to program the time(s) you want. If the tabs are up, the tabs will push down with very little pressure. If the push hard--- the tabs are likely already down! 2) Point the TIME NOW arrow on a key you will not be pushing down. You cannot push down a key that the TIME NOW arrow is pointing at. Would have been helpful if this was in the instructions. 3) Basic timer --- inexpensive --- does the job. I use mine to control the shop lights on my indoor plant table --- that is used to grow tomato and pepper plants from seed --- into mature plants ready for the garden

Perfect for the Price. Could use instructions
DOWN=ON, UP=OFF AND switch to "TIMER" mode I was having issues with this because it seems counter productive to have the pins go DOWN for the time you want the light on. But thanks to another reviewer that problem worked itself out. Then I realized it had a "Outlet on" and "Timer On" switch. It was a bit of a blonde moment on my end. But once I get it set up it works great for my office. Downside, it does only have a 2 prong outlet. It is very basic. But If its just for a desk lamp or grow light, you're fine if its a 2 prong thing.

            Low Cost--Works Great
It turned a lamp on and off while I was on vacation. Make sure that all of the buttons are in the up position to start. Then simply push down the ones where you want the light to be on. Can have multiple on and off intervals each day. Will not accommodate three prong plugs.

Great item. So glad I purchased.
This timer is very inexpensive, but still does the job extremely well, especially with the ability to set multiple on/off times.

            Directions would help.
It would help if this came with instructions. I have fussed with this for 2 days. Not being able to figure it out. Came to the internet and it basically says start with all pins up. Why could there not be an insert in the package telling you that. It is frustrating. But finally got it to work.

Kitcat, this timer does come with a manual or at least it should be in the container with the timer. You can also call into technical support and a technician could have walked you through programing it and also email you the manual. Jasco Products Tech Support (Manufacturer) GETechSupport

              Great timer
Works like a charm and is a great buy for the price. The only thing I didn't realize is that it is a 2 prong plug in. So I bought the 3 to 2 prong converters so I could plug my extension cord into it and it works great!

Great for Christmas Season. Or home security.
It wasn't easy to understand at first. But then I realized: the pins move up and down, and that is how you set when you want the electricity to flow or be closed. Simple and works.

                Setting Timer
I had the same problem with the settings. I wanted Christmas lights to turn on at 4:30 PM and turn off at 12:30 AM. The trick was to have ALL the pins from 4:30 PM to 12:30 AM in the UP position.

                Great product for the price!
This timer is perfect and works better then some of the more expensive ones that I have purchased in the past. I use it for my aquarium light and love it. The only thing that I would suggest is double checking what type of plug you need.

                  Cheapest timer ever
Easy to mess up by pushing on it when plugging it in. We bought 3 last Christmas, and two don't work this Christmas. Incredibly cheap!

Bigfoot, while it is easy to accidently press the tabs down while plugging it in the tabs are easy to pull back up while its plugged in. without knowing the specifics on what the timer is/isn’t doing I can’t offer any help as for why it wouldn’t be working. A fine basic timer at a great price.
Compact size, easy to set, multiple on/of per day programming capability (in 30 minute increments). The only thing it doesn't have is random on/off intervals, which I wouldn't expect for under $4. This does the job at a very reasonable price.

Not to be used behind furniture.
It works fine as long as it is not plugged into an outlet behind a sofa or any furniture that could slide up against it. With this style of timer, you pull up all the little tabs on the face of the dial and then push down the ones that represent the time when you want the timer on; however, if it's is behind a sofa or a piece of furniture that ends up sliding up against against the timer, the buttons get pushed down and negates the purpose of the timer. If you use it anywhere else, where nothing can touch it, it works fine (so far).

DIYers that will be a drawback to using a timer like this, I would recommend a digital timer like the 15079 or the 15089 which will keep the problem of furniture being pushed up next to them from happening. Jasco Products Tech Suport(Manufacturer)GETechSupport

                    Good Item
The timer works as expected but the on /off times can vary over 15 minutes from the dial setting. Rather sloppy dial.

Oldoldtimer, I am sorry to hear that your timer isn’t operating properly. When setting the current time its best to do it at the top of the hour or 30 minutes after the hour for example 1:00pm or 1:30pm. This way you can be sure that the current time is correct since it can be difficult to set the current time since there are no minute markers. Hopefully this information helps in the future.

                    Inexpensive, basic timer
This timer is just what I needed. It is simple to set, can set to turn on or off every half hour and has enough capacity to handle any of my lamps or radios. The outlet is two-prong only, so it isn't set up to power any three-prong devices.
