Disappointed
I have had this unit 15 months and it is acting up already. The Humidity setting is stuck on 50% and I have tried everything to reset the unit to no avail.

Hello- We appreciate you taking the time to share your review. We would like to help! Ideal in-home humidity levels should hover around 45%. Anything under 30% is too dry, and over 50% is too high. We recommend checking to make sure that all windows and doors are closed. Make sure the unit has proper air flow and that no curtains, blinds, or furniture is blocking the front or back of the dehumidifier. If used in a laundry area, install the dehumidifier away from the moisture laden air generated by the dryer. We hope this is helpful. If you have any other questions, please reach out to us directly. We are happy to help!
Solid dehumidifier that pulls a lot of excess mois
Solid dehumidifier that pulls a lot of excess moisture out of the air. Following a leak in the house, it has consistently pulled multiple gallons of water out of the air reduced the in-home humidity from 60% down to a more comfortable 40%. It would have been good to get one with IFTT/Apple HomeKit integration, but that didn't seem available, however I put mine on a wifi plug and am able to turn it on/off remotely as required.

Easy to set up, great features, and works great!
I installed two of these dehumidifiers, one for each basement within my duplex. The product is sleek looking and very easy to set up. I'm using the built-in pump system and am running the pump to my basement sink. I did have to buy longer tubing for the pump, but that was easy to find. The automatic pumping system works well and the product, in general, works very well to maintain reasonable humidity and prevent moisture buildup in the basements.

        Guess what mine quit too
As is the case with all the other reviewers on here that have owned this unit for more than a couple days. Mine too has ceased to continue with its life. It has give. Up the will to remove the damp musty air in our home. Unfortunate because it was a nice unit up to that point. Not sure if it was the spiders in the basement urging it to end its existence or perhaps all the other higher end name brand appliances teasing it at night. Either way it will have its very own Viking funeral very soon.

            Very Happy!
So far my GE dehumidifier is working fine. I’m surprised how much moisture is in the air. It really works.

                50 Pint Dehumidifier stopped working.
Purchased the 50 pint GE dehumidifier with built in pump 9-27-21 and ran it a month or so until we turned the heat on. It worked beautifully. We ran it during the summer of 2022 and it worked fine. It is now the summer of 2023 and it is not working. We have followed all the trouble shooting directions to no avail. So basically we got one summer’s use out of it. So very disappointed in this product. It looks brand new but won’t work.

Crapped out just after 1 year warranty expired
Not happy the new unit I purchased just suddenly stopped worked days after the warranty expired. Save your money and buy another brand instead of GE.

Broken- not sure since when, maybe from the beginning
We bought it in Nov 2022. Was running in the unfinished basement so wasn't checking on it convinced everything is fine. Noticed crazy electricity bills - now is March 2023 , and finally found out that that humidifier never shuts off, even after reaching desired humidity and blows ice cold air. I shut it off and my electricity usage went down dramatically. What a crap!

Hey there - we're sorry to hear that your dehumidifier has not met your expectations. The unit has a "Nonstop" option which allows the dehumidifier to operate continuously at its maximum dehumidification settings if attached to a hose to drain or until the bucket is full. We recommend setting a desired humidity level to stop the unit from running nonstop, and you can learn more about this by referring to page 4 of the owner's manual here: https://images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/45/45f8c867-f03d-4ea6-9c69-1f1c3ebdfbc0.pdf -- Please let us know if there are other questions or concerns we can assist you with. The setup is absolutely easy. Plug in and play. I can already tell the difference in air quality right away after the first night.

Died at just under 1 year
Worked well until it quit. I know HVAC and dehumidifiers and it is low on refrigerant - part of the coil freezes up and the unit runs without removing moisture. It uses R410a which runs at high pressure as compared to the older freon. I think the design/materials of the refrigerant system in this unit is borderline and it simply leaks after a year or so. I spent an hour waiting to talk to a warranty rep to see if GE could do anything and simply gave up. Very frustrating and expensive experience.

Complete junk. I have had two of these in the past 5 years, both have failed. They don’t make these to last.

I currently have my third GE Dehumidifier within 4 weeks. The first unit the water pump did not work. The second unit the humidity control would run constantly, no matter if set for 45 or 60 %. Have an independent humidity gauge in basement and it would show 42% level, but unit would not stop . Brought both back to HD. Now have Third unit for two days, is the third a charm? GE units made in China so shipping in containers across ocean and how are they carefully handled in transport? The price point to me for Ge versus a Fredrich was what is keeping me engaged plus other brands are not in stock like Westinghouse.

                                Nice looking
Hoping this unit lasts longer then the first GE dehumidifier I bought. Below is the nameplate off the old one. This one is slightly smaller so hopefully some improvements were made to the design. It looked like there was a hole in the coil. There was a lot of rust on the plates around the coil and now refrigerant in the system.

                                  Good with the pump
This GE dehumidifier was the 3rd dehumidifier we purchased lately. The first 2 all worked well in dehumidification, but all has issues with the water pump functions. Finally we got the GE dehumidifier. It works well in all functions including the pump. So far we are happy with it. Hopefully it will bring us comfort in many years to come.

Worked well for a year, then Kaput!
Really disappointed with this dehumidifier from GE. I had this one for less than 2 years - worked well for a while, then the compressor has stopped working. The fan comes on for a little bit, but the compressor does not come on and the fan eventually shuts off (setpoint is 40%, humidity is 60%). It's even more aggravating because I had another GE dehumidifier that lasted ~3 years before this one, but in a moment of weakness I thought I'd give GE another chance. My mistake.

Although my basement is finished(raised ranch) there is a damp smell present at times, especially after it rains. I purchased this as a replacement unit, plugged it in, and within minutes the damp smell was gone! I am very please with the performance, appearance, and cost of the unit.

I had the same experience as other people’s reviews. Bought this the summer of 2019 and noticed it was not collecting water last summer and it will only run the fan for 10-15mins then shuts off. Water catch basin is bone dry and the humidity is 60%. Would not recommend GE dehumidifiers

                                              Worked for only three days
I purchased this because I moved to the Seattle area and a contractor recommended a dehumidifier to reduce moisture downstairs. Previously, I've appreciated GE products and always bought them through Home Depot; however, this one has proved to be a disaster. It worked for approximately three days and then the display malfunctioned, showing partial numbers that didn't change when the buttons were pressed. Also, except for the power button, the other functions were no longer available. When the fan dramatically increased speed and then slowed, I gave up and contacted GE. On October 8th, I spoke to two agents, and the second one promised that a new dehumidifier would be sent to my house within 5-7 business days followed by a box to return the original. Neither arrived. I've been on long holds with GE since to no avail. The recording advocates choosing the call-back option, but no one calls back. I'm on hold, probably sixth time, to find out where to return it. If I receive no satisfaction, I'll contact my Credit Card company to dispute the charges. This is a real shame, as they used to be a solid American appliance company.

                                                Works a Promised
Bought to replace DeLonghi that stopped pulling water after 3-4 years. Appears to be a consistent theme no matter the brand. Bought extended warranty for 45 from HD. Anyway - basement odor gone in one day. Humidity level now at 50 percent. Drain pump routed full length to washing machine drain - all good so far. One point though —- The unit does not immediately shut down when the bucket is removed as described in the instruction manual. When removed the compressor shuts down and the fan will continue for 3 minutes or so. Appears to normal operating procedure. Found issue in a 2013 post re a Kenmore. Finally someone pointed this out and it applies here too. After 7 years you’d think they would revise instructions (kenmore, GE I believe made by same company). Anyway pump works and that’s critical for me. I recommend the product.

Works great. Really does the job keeping humidity in check in our bathroom. Pump works great too, no more emptying the bucket twice a day. Just need to remember to properly clean the bucket a couple times a month. I ran the water discharge line into the toilet bowl, so when the seat is down you don't even know it's there. One tip if you do this, secure the line to keep the force of the water discharge from working the line out of place. I used a zip tie to secure the line to the toilets water inlet hose, but will probably make a plastic clamp from a milk jug to fasten it to one of the toilet tank bolts one of these days. The dehumidifier discharge line is thin but made from a stiff material so it can't make sharp 90 degree bends, but it is flexible enough you can route it as needed to get to your drain, and the hose that comes with it is generous in length.
