This doorbell doesn't "ring". I expected that when my phone was notified, the "ring" would be customizable. However, all you get is a weak "blip" which is barely audible. If you're not looking at your phone all the time, it's worthless.

Not a user friendly device . Charged two of my charge cards 39.00 for a 0.0 dollar cost account to setup the device to your phone. Had to cancel both cards for fraud charges. The setup said for ID only and then declinged setup because card didn't match their format. The only 5 star was getting my money back for the cost of the thing.

I bought this to replace an older generation nest doorbell that had stopped working. I still can’t get the chime to ring inside the house after doing all the troubleshooting and scouring the online forums. I have to pay an electrician to come and change the transformer at our house and hope that is the issue. It’s rather inconvenient to not have a working doorbell. One plus is that the camera is much better than the older generation best doorbell.

It’s unfortunate to hear of your experience with using the device along with your existing chimes and transformer. A traditional doorbell system uses very little power, but Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) has higher power requirements so the camera can continuously record video. Make sure that the transformer (power supply) meets the specific power requirements as the doorbell needs to be connected by wires delivering 16 - 24 V AC, and at least 10 VA (in North America) or 12 - 24 V AC and at least 8 VA (in Europe).

Charge lasts a month at best. In sub freezing temperatures you will need to recharge in less than EVERY two weeks. Requires special tool (included) EVERY time you dismount it to bring it inside to connect to a charger. That grows old real fast. Works OK if it has enough charge.

Your doorbell could be detecting a lot of activities, as the battery life depends on factors including activity, temperature, and doorbell settings that you select. You can extend its battery life by adjusting the settings like the video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. At temperatures between -4°F (-20°C) and 32°F (0°C), the battery can still power your device, but it won’t charge. It may drain more quickly than usual. You need to bring it inside to a warm place, preferably at room temperature so the battery can start to charge slowly once its temperature rises past 32°F (0°C). It will charge faster when it warms up.

    No audible alert unless you buy/have their devices
    I bought this to replace my 3rd Ring doorbell that ran its course. I also fell out of love with the brand over the years and especially recently, so I wanted to try something different. For what this Nest Doorbell (battery) is and does, it’s a satisfactory product, with one major exception. Unless you have Google speakers/actual devices, you will not be able to hear an audible tone or ring when someone is at your door. You’ll only get a display notification on your phone if you enable that.

Thankfully, in addition to Google speakers or displays for Visitor Announcement, Alexa can also announce when a Nest doorbell detects motion, or when someone presses the doorbell button.       The second generation of this product is a big step forward from the original Nest product. The camera resolution has improved. They also rotated the field of view so that it is oriented more vertical than horizontal. This allows more of the person at the door to be viewed. Installation, while not that difficult, could be improved. The biggest challenge was getting the doorbell/cam to seat correctly on the angled mount. The two nubs would not slide in simultaneously to allow the set screw to be tightened. Some light rocking of the unit eventually got the positioning correct. This mounting setup could be improved perhaps with the third generation. Overall, great product.

      This is a perfect example of how Google bought a company that did great things and made it subpar. This doorbell has worse resolution and worse, camera viewing angle compared to the generation, one nest doorbell, cam.

        My nest video doorbell quit ringing my doorbell. It was intermittent. But seldom worked. Video was fine and the app did send notifications of doorbell pressed. Replaced with 2nd gen wired doorbell and corrected concern. Took my wife a couple days to get used to the app change but our google home is up and running smoothly again.
