We upgraded our Hose Reel to aluminum after the old Suncast Hosemobile finally broke in half (after about 10 years of service). This hose reel/winder really works well. It easily winds up heavy duty 5/8 inch rubber hose. We especially like the BIG CRANK which makes it easy to spin the reel/winder. We also like the hose guide which you can operate without getting your hands all Dirty from the mud and dirt on your hose. Easy to assemble you just need one hex wrench (included) or hex sockets (which we already had from working on cars). The bottom tray will not stay on. We had to drill a 7/32 inch hole in a non-structural part of the tray to make a path for a beefy Zip Tie. We would have thrown the tray away, but, it looks like it is structural part , so, we zip tied it in place instead. The only reason it gets a 4 is because we had to perform the Zip Tie fix. Perhaps the Manufacturer will start including 4 Zip Ties with the assembly kit?

    Great product
The only problem I have with the real is that the handle is too short. You have to been over to move it around, and with me being a tall person it’s sort of awkward. I chose to order a piece of 1 1/4 outside diameter aluminum tube and ordered an extra handle. I took the extra handle and using the two pieces of 1 1/4 inch tubing to extend the handle (see photos).

I only gave this product a 4 because of the handle being just to dang short for a tall person. You have to bend over to lug it around. I solved my problem by purchasing an additional handle, then taking the parts and using them to extend my original handle.

Well Built Hose Reel with One Major Flaw
I really wanted to give this product 5 stars. Well made, goes together easily, stainless steel hardware. Hose fittings are beefy and don't leak. I have 150 feet of hose on the reel and it will take more. But the plastic bushings for holding the wheels in place are totally inadequate. I spent over 20 minutes lining them up perfectly like the directions indicate. Push them in and they pop right out with any pressure on the wheels. Yes, there is a little button that has to fit in the cutout but it still doesn't stay put. For $140 the manufacturer could have put a little more effort into this component. I will be on the phone Monday morning with customer service to see if they have a solution.

I like it. Seems really sturdy. Works smoothly. I don’t have to get my hands dirty reeling it back in, but I can also control where the guide is guiding to. It stays put. Worth the money.

Excellent Product But A Few Have Some Issues...
200ft version is a really well designed / Engineered product. However - A few folks have problems with the wheel locking mechanism and wheels loosening or falling off? Step 4 within the installation sheet would probably solve this if paid attention to? There are two divots on the axel tube. After removing the stickers from the yellow capture devices you must line up the dimples on the yellow with the divots in the shaft when inserting. If correctly lined up you should hear a click and the wheel will be captured. If you missed slightly, use the wheel to slightly extract the capture plug and line up and try again. It does work in the end and the wheels will not walk out. Another issue is with the hose clamp feature. Pay attention to this at step 9. Feed your hose through the guide and use a crescent wrench to attach hose end fitting to the brass extension on the reel. Then remove the wing nut from the outside of the reel, remove the bracket and bolt. Separate and place hose clamp over the hose as installed orientation and reinstall bolt and affix to reel as originally provided. No need for prying the clamp open to get the hose end fitting through? I did only make 1 mod with this device in that I zip tied the lead in hose to the front leg to prevent it from turning... Hope all are happy with their purchase in the end as I have been!

This is a great reel. I have had some of the plastic reels that are out there, but they are so light that reeling in the hose lifts the reel off the ground making the reeling jerky and hard to do. This little reel does the job it's suppose to do without being cumbersome. Pull the hose out use it and reel it back in. Will probably last forever and a day.

          Good Product
I like two large wheels over a four wheel cart. The two wheel design is easier to move across my sloping lawn. My only issue… After finishing the assembly, I realized that the tubing was installed into the wrong spokes of the hose reel hub. Gorilla should make that assembly item clearer. (See attachment.)

            One was perfect.
I purchased two and one is perfect. It was simple to put together, very sturdy and it definitely met my expectations. The second one had mis-punched the positions on the aluminum base where the wheels are supposed to be attached. This caused one end to be too long to attach a wheel (it made an awful racket if you did) and the other end too short to attach a wheel.

Gorilla Hose Reel (Model GRS150) is well made, easy to assemble, and very stable on the ground. It doesn't tip when pulling the hose out. It sits really low though, so cranking it requires squatting down or Gorilla-length arms (yes, I did that). The components all seem to be high quality, right down to the nylon lock nuts used on all the attachment bolts, and the included hex-head “allen” wrench needed for assembly. Despite the description as “aluminum” the reel itself is plastic and (of course) the fittings are brass. I appreciate the all-brass fittings, but the short tabs on the hose ends still required use of pliers and the one inside the unit (where the garden hose attaches) is awkwardly placed. The flat surface on the hose bib provides lots of mating surface for the washers, it theory making the fitting less likely to leak, but for some reason I can't get my 100-ft hose to stop leaking at the joint. It doesn't leak on my hose bib, and a different hose doesn't leak on the reel, so I doubt it's the reel fitting itself. The short leader hose (between reel and hose bib) is heavy duty, but for some reason the rubberized grips on each end do not fit over the threaded fitting so as to provide extra torque when tightening. That's a head-scratcher for me. Overall this is a great unit that should last a long, long time.

              Good but a few shortcomings
This hose reel is built well except for the wheel attachment. The yellow plastic piece that is supposed to secure the wheels, don't really do the job. I need to kick it back during each use. The handle bar is also way too low. In order to move the hose reel around, the handle needs to be pushed down really low and isn't at a good walking height even though I'm under 6' tall. We've had this for about a month and are debating whether to return it or not. Also, I wonder if it will really hold 200' of hose. I've only got 100 feet on there now, and it doesn't look like there is room for another 100 feet which we don't need, so it doesn't matter to us.

Ordered the hose reel to organize and store a long hose I use for watering shrubs and plants in my front yard. The reel came disassembled with all hardware necessary for assembly plus two (2) extra hose gaskets. Assembly was easy taking about 15 minutes. Steps include attaching the legs to the reel with four (4) bolts and self-locking nuts, attaching the handle to the reel with one (1) bolt and self-locking nut, attaching the leader hose to the water source, and attaching the garden hose. I was able to wind a full 150 feet of garden hose onto the reel which completely filled the reel. The wide stance (26 inches) and low profile (18 ¼ inches) of the unit makes the hose easy to pull out and reel in without tipping the unit over. I find it easiest to reel in a long hose by bending down fairly low and holding the front two legs front down with my feet while cranking and guiding the hose evenly onto the reel with my hands. I like the light weight free standing compact design that does not take up much area and is easy to move. I especially like the corrosion resistant materials including the UV rated structural plastic molded reel, aluminum and stainless steel hardware, and the forged brass plumbing with Teflon backed seals. I believe the system is extremely well designed and engineered for performance and durability and will hold up well to the elements for many years to come. Due to its light weight I may eventually stake it down to the ground where I want to keep it permanently for greater stability.

WHEELS NOT MADE TO MOVE THIS.
The wheels on this cart are held in by something that looks like a modified shotgun shell. No screws to hold them on. If you're not rolling this on a flat concrete surface you are as good a screwed. I love the several Gorilla carts that I own and was hoping this would be a quality product just as their others. I was duped.

Great quality product and very easy to put together. There is a little L wrench that comes with the product along with great instructions. There are three tips I'd like to share. One, you should only use a hose with brass connector to connect to reel, OR go to site and get a conversion connector. Two, is that space is tight when you are attaching legs. I could use my hands to hold bolts and attach nut, if you have large hands you might want to use a small wrench, either way it was an easy task. Three, the other adjustment that I had to do is expand the internal hose strap a bit to fit over the internal hose connector, again very easy to do. I tested all the hose connections (external - black and internal - white) as I put reel together with water on to ensure no leaks, to ensure I had everything tight enough. Once I had everything together I tested it end to end. Results: NO leaks, easy to pull hose off reel and easy to roll hose back on to reel. The instructions also provide usage instructions - make sure there is no water pressure when deploying or reeling in hose. I'd recommend, keeps the hose nice and tidy so I don't trip over it.

Simple to assemble, seems rugged enough to last a long time. Holds 100 feet of heavy duty hose with room to spare. Had a steel one that lasted almost 10 years, it finally rotted through. The only complaint I have is that the handle is too short as others have mentioned.

                    wrong parts from factory
Product came partially assembled with two LEFT spindles! So nothing would line up when I tried to finish assembling it. I thought I was having a stroke, I couldn't figure out why it was not going together properly until I realised the spindles on either side of the reel were both LEFT spindles!

                      Hose Reel Beast
This hose reel is a beast! Like other reviewers, I got tired of purchasing plastic boxes that barely lasted 2 seasons. My last one was $80 and one wheel broke before the end of the second summer. The price of this one is well worth it- if it goes the distance. I just received it 2 days earlier than scheduled. Shipped in the original product box only. No box damage and all parts included. I'm not sure why some felt that assembly was hard because there are only 6 screws -2 for the handle, 2 for the base feet, and 2 for the wheel base, 1 bolt for the handle grip, and 2 wheel hubs All parts can be disassembled without impacting the other. The instructions are clear but I recommend having the box close by for picture reference. The parts are solid and high quality. The leader hose is high grade thick rubber - the best I've ever seen included with a hose reel. The fittings are all brass so as the warnings tell you, make sure your hoses have brass fittings too or you won't be able to get them apart after long usage. I just hooked everything up and not one drop of water was seen on any connection. The reel itself is so smooth it's like winding air. There is a strap that secures the hose to the wheel which is a little tough to screw in. This has a 7 year warranty so the product is backed for longevity. It will sit outside for 6 months and be stored inside for 6 months so we'll see how close to 7 years I can get. Anything more than 3 will beat other hose reels I've owned. All in all I'm impressed with the quality so far.

Solid, but it is a GORILLA, from the tube frame, right down to the connectors. Assembly was straight forward with SS bolts, nuts and screws as needed. holds 200ft of hose, I'm thinking 5/8 inch, as my 3/4 inch, 110 Ft. uses' nearly 3/4 of the reel. Has a heavy duty 6 ft. leader hose and forged brass fittings, Oversized for convenient connection. What is there one could not like with this reel/cart - OK I do have one area, it's tilts and rolls easily on flat (hard) surfaces, but does take a bit more effort across the lawn. Still this is an excellent reel-cart for your hose and reeling in the hose almost takes care of it self - just turn the crack. And lets not forget the tray for have your sprayers and all.

Lots of great features on this Gorilla 200 ft. Mobile Hose Reel, like the heavy-duty frame, brass connectors, long and sturdy connection hose, large wheels and more! Set up was easy enough, I love when they separate the screws and connectors in their own packaging, so you can easily see what you must work with. It took a few minutes of looking at the picture-based directions to figure out what went where, but between the directions and the picture on the box I was able to assemble it okay. Once it was ready to go, all I needed to do was attach the hose to the faucet, and then I started to string our hose into it when I saw the warning label about putting aluminum fitting hoses to the brass connector, which makes sense, but I never thought about it before that point. It lists a website in the directions that you can purchase an adapter, but when I went to the website, I was unable to find it there. I sent them an online message and got a quick response that they would be getting them in a few days and would be posting it on the webpage as soon as they were available. In the meantime, I was able to go back to the store and get a different hose that had brass connections on it. I recommend tightening the hose to the cart connections and turning on the water to check for leaks before winding it all the way up like I did. It was easy enough to pull it back out, and tighten the connector, and then wind it back up again. I thought the guide was automatic, but realized that it was not, but it was no big deal to simply hold onto it and guide it as I was winding up the hose with the handle. I love the little holder at the bottom that I can put our extra sprinkler heads into it, so they are all in one place. Not that I needed to move it, but the wheels would allow me to move it to another location easily if I had to. I love the sturdy and durable feel to the cart, and it looks and feels like it will be a useful household tool for years to come.

My old hose reel had seen its best days when I ordered this new reel. The sun, rain, and cold had just worn the old plastic parts out. I was ready for a hose reel that would stand up to the elements and not fall to pieces while just sitting there waiting to be used. This Gorilla reel comes from a name that is becoming well known for durability and innovation. The frame is made from anodized aluminum and stainless steel which will stand up to the weather much better than that old plastic. The fittings are forged brass just like in good home plumbing parts. The few plastic parts are UV rated so they should last a good long time. It only took me about 25 minutes to assemble and load this reel with 175 ft of hose. When assembling, be sure to position the word “DOWN” on the center hub of the frame toward the ground or it will take you longer.

STURDY, WELL-MADE is the first thought that comes to mind when you assemble this Hose Reel. The Gorilla Hose Reel is easy to assemble and the instructions are easy to follow. I have the heavy 4 wheel cart reel and the smaller plastic roll-around, so I was excited to compare the Gorilla to them. I would say this cart is superior in construction and style. I love the aluminum frame tubing w/ the black accents. The spool and crank is designed so you won't have to worry about them failing quickly. In the spool, there is a loop that holds the end of the hose close to the side. When you wind up your hose, the loop keeps the hose in-line rather than spreading across the spool and crushing. The crank handle is heavier than what you find on other hose reels. It's not going to fail you. Also, the hose coming off the reel is heavy industrial sized. I love this, as my others alway kink and cut off the water supply. I like the basket for accessories on the bottom, though I would like a option for the top handle, as well. The base seems longer than other reels, but this also provides a stable platform to reel in your hose without constantly trying to keep it still. I'd definitely recommend buying this hose reel. It holds 200ft of hose, its strong and you will have it many years!

This Gorilla 175 ft Aluminum Zero Rust Mobile Hose Reel is easy to assemble instructions are clear and easy to follow. Once assembled it is easy to maneuver around. It's durable and made with aluminum so it should last a really long time. It comes with a 7 Year Limited Warranty. Our old hose reel rusted, dripped and the air pressured tires rotted with the sun. The wheels on this hose real is molded hard plastic that doesn't require air and can withstand the hot sun. I got spoiled with a spot to put the end of the hose and Gorilla's Hose Reel doesn't have that. I love everything about it.....except, upon loading our 100ft Home Depot Heavy Duty hose, there is a slight drip from the brass connector. It claims a non-leak system in its specifications, however, I do have a minimal drip, but drips a bit nonetheless. The manual crank rolled up the hose nicely and was a smooth action. I couldn't find where it's made.

Overall, this is a very sturdy, built to last, hose reel. That biggest potential issue I see is that I feel 175' capacity is a bit of a stretch. I put 150' of hose on this and I don't think I could easily fit much more than that. Another important note before I get into more detailed pros and cons...this uses brass fittings, so make sure you use hoses with brass fittings. If you use aluminum or other metals, you risk corrosion fusing the hose to the fitting permanently. Brass fittings are the longest lasting option when it comes to hoses anyway. PROS: - Very sturdy, long lasting build quality. All materials are corrosion resistant (aluminum frame, stainless steel bolts, plastic reel, brass fittings). - Very simple assembly, and it comes with an allen wrench, so no tools required. The hardware is separated out by step (even though all of the bolts are the same). - Compact, Portable. While mine will likely stay where it is most of the time, having the reel on wheels makes it pretty simple to bring the hose inside over the winter if needed. CONS: - The biggest issue in my mind is the claim to 175' capacity. Maybe I have thicker hose or something, but I'm not convinced I could get 175' to easily fit on the reel. I'd guess 150' is more the max based on my hose. I docked a star for this, though I'm sure there is some standard industry size guideline that is used like a "1 Terabyte" Hard Drive is really only 1000GB instead of a true 1024GB. - Since it is compact, it is also fairly low to the ground. As a 6'2" guy, I do have to crouch down somewhat awkwardly to reel the hose in. From a design perspective, it's hard to avoid this, so not a huge deal. - If the hose reel will be in the sun, the plastic reel itself would likely be the first thing to crack (other than the hose itself). It still should last a while, though as far as I can tell.

This is a well made heavy duty reel that is much better than hose reels that I have owned in the past. It took approximately 20 minutes to put the reel together with the Allen wrench, but it was easy to follow the directions. The reel has a bracket that holds the hose to the side to make it reel hose in easier.. The reel holds up to 100 + feet of hose, and it is easy to roll the stand around with the big wheels,

Best darn hose reel I've ever had! I've had many hose reels over the years, but none have been as nicely designed and constructed as this unit from Gorilla. It came well packaged, with clear instructions for assembly. One of the more outstanding features is the quality of the hose and hose hardware. The brass fittings look as though they will last forever! I was impressed they took the time to pre-lube the rotating connections to ensure easy use. Very sturdy. Very nice. Very recommended!

I was disappointed after i set the hose reel together. I have a 100 heavy duty hose and barely got it screwed on.i had to break away plastic flex piece from my hose and i also used a screw driver to bend the copper connector on the reel so i can attach the hose. Also my hose, as youll see in the pictures, is a 100 ft and there is no way ill be able to get another one on there. the overall quality is great. Its built well fells sturdy and good quality materials. Took me about 20 min to assemble every thing is labeled with decent instructions. It might work great with thinner cheaper hoses ,maybe you can reel 200ft . It does have a smooth reel crank but with heavy duty hose you do have to put some muscle in to reel it up. Also you have to move the hose feed guide by hand while reeling up to spred even the hose on the reel.

Finally a hose reel designed to last for years. The Gorilla 175 foot mobile hose reel is built of aluminum and plastic so it will not rust. Unlike other mostly plastic reels, the Gorilla product has thick plastic feet and reel housing. The water connections are made of well machined brass components that will clearly outlast the hose and the rest of the reel. The leader hose is made of durable rubber and also has machined brass ends. I like the addition of a hold down strap on the reel to ensure there is no pull from the hose on the main connection to the reel. Assembly is six basic steps and the manual provides very clear instructions. The one thing I noticed in step one is that you attach the aluminum handle to the reel assembly in the socket that has a little logo on it. I assumed both sides of the reel would be in the same position but I learned that was not the case and could not get my foot base and wheel base to align. A quick disassembly of step one and reinserting the handle ensuring both sides it slid into had the logo solved the issue and the rest of my install went smoothly. Each step has its own labeled nut/bolt set. A hex wrench is also included to tighten everything up. Gorilla even included two extra silicone hose washers. The handle is easy to turn and spins on the attaching bolt so there is no friction against your hand during winding. The front legs have a place to put your foot during winding to keep the reel steady. My hose is fairly stiff so pulling it off the reel causes the reel to slide on the ground. Most reels do this so I will not hold that against Gorilla. There are two improvements I think could make the product even better: 1) An alignment mechanism to evenly wind the hose against the reel; 2) A caddy or hook to rest an attached hose sprayer.

I am really pleased with this hose reel. First of all, it was nicely packaged when I received it. Second, it had a nice set of instructions that made it very easy to assemble. All of the necessary parts were included, including the allen wrench which was needed to tighten the screws. It also has a "contemporary" look that distinguishes it from a lot of the other hose reels that are out there. The hose reel itself appears to be "indestructible," because of the high quality parts that are used. Because of the way it was designed, it is very stable. It will accommodate hoses up to 175', which should be more than enough for most homes. The handle and the supports are heavy duty aluminum and the fittings are all brass. A nice touch is the hose guide that will keep the hose in place after it is screwed into the brass fitting. The hose reel comes with a seven-year warranty, so the company definitely feels like it will last at least that long, if not more.
