Simply making sure you frequently use your disposal can help remove any excess food scraps and food waste residue. A moderate stream of cold water following each use will keep it clean, but sometimes you'll need to clean it, give it a bit of freshening up using a soapy scouring pad, or clean it in the dishwasher. Hi, thanks for leaving your comments, and we're sorry to hear about this. The quiet collar sink baffle (for use with Evolution Series disposers only) is designed so that water will pool on top of it as another way to reduce the noise of the disposer. Water should not, however, back up into the sink. If water is backing up into the sink, make sure the power to the disposer is off, and then press on the quiet collar baffle to make a large opening in the center. If water flows right out when doing this, please check to be sure the quiet collar baffle is inserted correctly. If the "cone-shaped" side is pointing up at you, the water will not be able to drain properly. The "cone-shaped" or "pointed" side should be facing down into the sink hole when the baffle is inserted. The groove on the baffle should engage the "lip" on the flange all the way around. If it is inserted correctly and water is still backing up, there may be a venting issue or a partial or full blockage in the drain line. Hi! We're sorry to hear that your sink baffle has warped. It is unusual since our quiet collar baffle is made of Nitrile, a synthetic rubber that is known for its heat resistance. It is probable that it was caused by prolonged exposure to acidic foods, caustic cleaners, and solvents.
