Just an OK model, but overpriced
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So this one is the replacement for one I bought 3 weeks earlier. After having it for almost 2 months now, we are getting use to it. The water and ice in the door are a good feature, but the drip tray is very shallow so you have to keep an eye on it. It is bright inside with lots of LED lights. The adjustable shelve only have 2 position and really don't give much room for medium size containers. The slide away shelf is a total waste of space. But the biggest draw back is that fact that you have to purchase thermomotors for the refrigerator and ice compartments to make sure the temperature is correct. This unit only has settings that you set the temperature, but does not show what the actually temperature is inside. So beware, if the temperature raises inside either the upper or lower section, you will not know until everything melts or spoils.

    Nice looking fridge. Shelving not most practical.

        Don't Buy It! Move on!
        I have had this fridge for less than 2 1/2 years. It stopped cooling before the one year anniversary. It stopped working completely once again today 2 1/2 years into owning it. The repair man comes tomorrow, but once again, I am left scrambling to find a way to keep my food from spoiling. Let's hope he can get it running before the long weekend. Simply unacceptable for a KitchenAid product.

            [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I want to be an accurate and positive reviewer about this refrigerator. This is a great refrigerator! I read many less than stellar reviews and have not experienced anything but good. I had to downsize from my old side by side unit so that it would fit in my space. (It was also a Kitchenaid, that we passed on to neighbors as it is still running after 22 years!) This is laid out so well that I actually feel like I have more space. I think I will have plenty of space for holiday’s, entertaining etc. It keeps everything very nice and cold, and am still experimenting with the best settings for us. I was concerned about the small door shelves not holding much on the left side, but found I could fit much more there than anticipated. The freezer space is not huge, but holds plenty. I have a freezer outside, so it’s not an issue for us. I love the small ice from the ice maker, the “favorite fill”, and “measured fill”options, as well as the soft close drawers. The printshield stainless is very welcomed. It is so easy to clean with water and microfiber cloth. As far as noise, there are different sounds from my old Kitchenaid, but I hardly notice them now. I typically only hear them first thing in the morning when I am the only one up. I hope this review helps those who are on the fence because of other reviews. I am very happy with this refrigerator.

Shelves are very limited, and interior space does not allow for standard size bottles/ containers, etc.... I personally would exchange it if I were ablecto do so.

                NO! Find something else that will work.
                I can’t begin to express the design flaws. We purchased this product in 2017. Prior to our one year anniversary it died and was replaced by KitchenAid. In 2023 our refrigerator would not cool under 50°. We replaced the control board still not cooling then we were told there’s another design floor in the evaporator door which includes the blower motor, thermister and updated foam per a service bulletin. We also replaced the control board. All was done at our expense and still not cooling properly. I spent many hours online reading service bulletins, Relating to an updated evaporator door cover. After five years of pure frustration and in search for a new refrigerator, I have decided to leave a review for others. Our model number is KRC704FSS01. I am assuming the proceeding model numbers KRFC704FFS 02 and KRFC704FFS03 relate to the design modifications attempted to correct design flaws. $4000 is a lot for broken bling and takes a Frustrated individual to send it to the scrapyard at five years, especially after an additional $1200 in repairs. We purchased the five-year extended warranty out-of-pocket, and of course this happened about two months outside of the warranty. We understood the warranty was expired and chose to make the repairs. However, the repairs have not resolved the problem so it’s time to let it go.

                  Good looking inside and out

I’m disappointed in the limited shelve adjustments, which has forced me to purchase new “shorter” drink containers. Initially the lower freezer drawer didn’t close properly, but a tech came and realigned the inner drawer which solved that issue

                    Good but not great!

The ice maker is very loud and does not produce much ice. The retractable shelf I thought was a great feature, but honestly it makes for awkward organization. The door shelves do not hold much. The bamboo retractable tray makes it look very nice and makes it seem much more impressive then it is.

                      [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice fridge, terrible ice maker. Forms a block of ice every 4 days or so. Then no ice is able to be dispensed. To make matters worse a small amount of water leakes out into the compartment so you can’t remove the ice maker to defrost it. So if you want ice this fridge won’t give it to you.

                          Decent Counter Depth Refrigerator
                          [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought our Kitchenaid French Door refrigerator June 1, 2024. For the most part things are good. We would recommend, if possible, that the shelves be made adjustable in height. For us, our ice cream stays to frozen with the freezer set at 4. The recommended freezer setting is zero. We presently have an intermittent buzzing noise that has not been resolved as of this review.

                            Tiny Ice Cubes!

                              TERRIBLE DESIGN
                              [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This HAS to be one of the most poorly designed refrigerators built. I think the person that designed it quit halfway through the project and KitchenAid got volunteers to finish. The interior shelves are crazy, the dimensions make shelves unusable, if you set other shelves to be usable. The ice dispenser doesn't stop dispensing until about 1/2 cup AFTER you get it to stop, the ice capacity is miniscule, the bottom freezer is a poor attempt at creating something that is nothing more than a bin that doesn't fit inside the compartment, with space left over at the front. I carefully went through all of the documentation that came with the refrigerator, there is nothing more I can do to try to improve this disaster.

                                Looks nice but has some deficiencies

Juice containers or other <10” containers don’t fit under the main cabinet shelves. My fridge was also missing the snack tray (Part Number W11592414 (AP7193475)). I hope I can get another one.

                                    DONT even think about it.
                                    If you're interested in this product, buy it ANYWHERE else. HD didn't listen to needed install instruction, fldamaged my product, and needed to come back twice. They then issued a gift card for a minifridge THAT THEY THEN TOOK BACK. When I addressed this with customer service, the noyes were magically deleted. Buy ANYWHERE else other than HD

                                      Here’s how to make this fridge work correctly…
                                      I’ve had this fridge for about 5 years so far. Bought it as an unassembled scratch and dent but brand new. I love it. Despite all of the negative reviews here, it’s actually a good fridge if KitchenAid would get rid of the stupid “As Needed” defrost feature. That feature is a way to make the fridge more energy efficient by initiating a defrost cycle only when it detects a need for it. That detection method is not accurate at all and it is the cause of all of the freezing and non-cooling issues you see posted here in reviews. Luckily, you can simply change the setting to a standard “timed defrost” defrost cycle like old school fridges. That will fix your freezing and non-cooling issues. Luckily I had an awesome tech that made this change shortly after I installed it in my new home. Haven’t a a problem at all in 5 years, and I have one of the first problematic units before the revisions. Fridge always stays 37 degrees and freezer 0. Second recommendation is to use cooking spray for the ice bin touch points, especially the ice sweeper gear point on the bottom of the bin. Using the cooking spray keeps the bin from freeze locking in the ice maker, which is another issue. And folks, you have to do maintenance with ice maker…use a knife to break up the ice occasionally and once per month, just dump all of the ice, defrost the bin, re spray with the cooking oil and start over. Doing this, per my tech’s instructions and 5 years later, zero ice maker problems. Finally, complaints about leaking and extremely strong water dispenser water can be remedied with a water restriction coupling on your incoming water behind the fridge. Most times, the water pressure coming into the house is just too high and it causes the ice maker to malfunction, the pipes inside of the door to leak and water winds up on your floor and the door electronics malfunction. My tech knew this from experience and installed a restrictior on my water line. Zero issues in 5 years. Ice maker works perfectly. Minus one star for the very slow ice maker performance, though. It’s a good fridge with poor default settings and a maintenance intensive ice maker. It’s still one of the most stylish and largest counter depth fridges out there. With these changes, it’s a reliable unit.

                                          Beautiful but temp issues
                                          We've had this fridge for three weeks, it's stunning and I love the small ice cubes, but we can't seem to get the temperature right. So far all of the control boards have been replaced and still, it freezes our food in the refrigerator when set to anything below 43 degrees. I have a friend with the same fridge and she keeps hers set at 42 (has owned it for over a year) and doesn't think twice about it, but I worry that the temperature function is just not working properly, it's running constantly, or keeping parts of the fridge too cold and other parts may be too warm. I have another service tech coming out next week to assess the problem but I am at my wits end. I have thrown out so many greens and cracked eggs.

                                            [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased a new home and upgraded our appliances. This was the upgraded refrigerator. It was not working even before escrow closed on the home. Three months later, we are still having issues. Large deposits of ice form around the freezer and it is very difficult to even open the freezer door. In addition, the water and ice maker have never worked. We also get condensation along the seal between the French doors. We are frustrated because it is not working. We also feel that since we paid for a new upgraded refrigerator, we should get a replacement, not a repaired refrigerator. We have come to expect so much more from KitchenAid and we are very disappointed in our new refrigerator.

                                              It’s OK, but I think somethings wrong with it
                                              [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this a couple of months ago, and it stays cold, but it is very very loud when the water fills up the ice tray, I mean so loud that you cannot have normal conversation when standing next to it. Having to open both doors in the front is a little cumbersome to pull out the trays, but it’s a nice refrigerator overall.

                                                Great Access, Features and Look - Temp?
                                                [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Much better layout than our KitchenAid side by side. High end fit and finish. Our last unit was a builder supplied KitchenAid side by side that only lasted 5 years. We couldn’t wait a week for a repair person to show up and feared a back ordered part so we replaced it. We are hopeful that this refrigerator will last more than 5 years. We have 2 thermometers (analog & digital w/remote) in the refrigerator section and despite having the temp set at 37 or lower, the temp ranges from 29 - 41 throughout the day. It is not overfilled and has plenty of space between its contents. Kitchen Aid needs to do a better job with manuals. The “owners” manual is more a setup manual and has no real info of some of the key features. Why do I have to go online to figure out how to calibrate and set the water measurements & favorites?

The quality is great and definitely beats out the Samsung that I replaced. Feels really sturdy and all the temperature controls work perfectly. I would have rated it a 5 but could have used storage for taller bottles.

                                                        Meh - Not enough ice for a family of 4
                                                        [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The front scratches easy. The ice does not produce fast enough. The ice bid is too small for a family of 4 even with "MaxIce" on. The water dispenser design is not perfect, water dribbles when the cup is pulled away because the timing of the cut off servo is too slow and the proximity of the spout to the cup is to small. They should recalibrate the cut off servo to be more responsive to match the shallowness of the spout to front of dispenser. The compressor / water pump is very loud, it blasts loudly every 3 hours or so. They should look into longer bursts of lower pressure to reduce the noise or put more sound padding around the compressor.

                                                          [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We've had our new KitchenAid fridge for about two months now and we LOVE IT! We had a Whirlpool that had been great for many, many years. Unfortunately, it was improperly stored for 3 months during our move from CA to NV, and the freezer side suffered. So after limping along for 3 years, we decided it was time for a new one. It is everything we were hoping for and more. We still can't believe how beautiful and effective the interior lighting makes everything so easy to see and locate!! We'd recommend this fridge to everyone!
