The door is absolutely beautiful! But it's poorly made. If you live in the Southern part of the states. It may be perfect. Frost comes through numerous areas. The front is bubbling & peeling.

Amazing freat looking door. Installation was fast. Was shellacked then painted with a uretahne paint.

$4,500 worth of doors left at the end of our driveway. The deliver was made while i was at work and i clearly communicated with the driver to leave at our covered carport area. Home depot subcontracted AAA transportation, contacted them, and they could not help claiming they followed home depot’s instructions. DO NOT recommend having ANYTHING delivered from Home depot

Glue joints split apart at numerous places up to 1/4”. Neither Home Depot or the door manufacturer’s warranty would cover it. Don’t waste your money

If your looking for a door with poor quality and holes where sunlight and weather can get in then this is the door for you. Got around to finally staining and sealing the door. When I had it resting upright and light behind it I noticed a large gap where the boards come together. Very poor quality workmanship and apparently no quality control or checks. Waste of money!

The quality of this door doesn’t match the price. I purchased this for a new home and selected the double door without stain to wait until I know the color I’d like it. They should of chose more quality pieces of pine. The notches in the door although I do understand are part of the design are terrible. One of my door has a huge black notch with a actual hole. I paid install and everything so it’s such a hassle to remove, possibly return and then pay to reinstall. I wouldn’t choose this brand.

Overall a good quality door. The grey stain looks a bit murky, but that may just be our color choice. The two major negatives against the door are that 1. One of the knots in the wood go all the way through. As in, I can see daylight through the knot. For a front door, having a hole is not ideal for obvious reasons. 2. The plastic that covers the glass is IMPOSSIBLE to remove, and there is some stain on the glass in certain panes.

We ordered the slab because we have an old house and it wasn't possible to rip off the original door frame. I am so glad we did, because my handyman had to cut the door to fit our frame. I knew the door had knots, but there were a lot more than anticipated, so my handyman used a wood filler. Unfortunately, he didn't use a stainable wood filler so when we went to stain it, it looked terrible. I actually liked the original color of the door, so I had him sand the whole thing back down. Instead of re-staining, we decided to finish it with a clear coat for protection. We used Minwax Helmsman Spar Urethane water based stain in Clear Semi-Gloss. **note, you will need to do a light sand in between coats. The final product is PHENOMENAL! It truly is so beautiful and the door of my dreams. Although there was more headache in the process than anticipated, in the end, it paid off.

I ordered the ebony stained wanting black. It looks black except when the sun is shining g on it appears somewhat brown. As others have mentioned expect natural knots on the door.

The construction of this door is disgraceful. This is supposed to be an EXTERIOR door, yet the wood panels in the lower frames are so loose (NOT GLUED) that I can slide a paper through. Also the door ledge is tacked on with small nails... that's it!

My husband & I aren’t what you’d call ‘crafty’, so after reading commentary online about how splotchy knotty alder can be, I was nervous to stain & seal this door. As recommended by the manufacturer in the Q&A, we used a Minwax cherry stain & Marine Spar polyurethane satin finish (I think we did 3-4 coats) to seal. The cherry stain imparts a reddish hue, then the poly adds a yellowish tint to create the rich, warm finish we wanted. The only negative comment I have is that the door has swelled quite a bit since installation & will have to be shaved. We used to have a solid wood door & we’re looking forward to not having to worry about the monumental swelling, but in spite of sealing it up tight with poly, this door swells just as much (if not more that) as the old one. All in all though, it’s a fantastic door & you can’t beat the price!

Just had the door installed by a professional. It did take him almost 5 hours to completely install it. It’s a great looking door.

We love this door. If we did it again, we might buy the pre hung version but if you are up for a project, this is for you. We stained it and it took beautifully. We used Behr transparent waterproof wood finish in Cordovan Brown. We couldn’t be happier with the end product!

Left sidelight came backwards so beveled glass facing inwards. Contacted HD and manufacturer. Told me they would have to order another door and that would take 3-4 more weeks and it had already taken 5 weeks from order date. Poor craftsmanship. Terrible manufacturer and company. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS MANUFACTURER.

This door is the type of door one would expect under $1000. Very cheap door. I feel someone could put their foot through the door with a good kick. There was a hole through the door within a knot showing lack of selection in the wood for making. There also was putty all over blemishes in the door showing manufacturer tries to patch defective items before shipment. Putty prevents a buyer from being able to stain a door. We gave HD 2 tries and both Krosswood doors lacked quality craftmanship. Both were returned. Home Depot need to find a quality door brand.

I am in love with this door. The wood is so beautiful, with natural knots and a beautiful natural hue. This image is unfinished, exactly how it arrived. Excellent quality and packaged well

The knots are so big and so deep you can clearly see daylight through four of them on our front door. Beautiful door, but they should have done a better job with the finishing of the door. This is listed as an exterior door, it shouldn’t let the elements into the house...

Full unit is of poor quality. Glass was installed backwards in side light and glass lost seal within a month of install. Krosswood is offering to replace unit or sidelight, so I am forced to accept defect or finish and reinstall new unit at my cost. I wish I had spent the extra $$ and purchased a better door from a quality company!! You get what you pay for! Costly and painful lesson!!!

The door, in the end, looks pretty good. And, more importantly, it fit my very specific needs - but before buying this door, please read my review. I have a 50-year-old house that had its original front door. The wood surrounding the door was in excellent shape and the door itself was a weird size - 35.25 x 78.75 (because it was custom made originally) so I either needed a wood slab door that I could cut to size or a custom prehung fiberglass door made to size. Since it was going to be a difference of several thousand dollars once the installation cost was factored in, I decided to go with the wood door; and in that case, the door was exceptional - 5 stars. But this door was in no way ready to be painted/stained and installed. When HD called it "knotty alder", I assumed (based on the pictures that HD posted) that it would have some dark spots that I could prime and paint over. Boy was I wrong. The door I received had multiple knots that went 1/2" into the depth of the door - sometimes the knots were in the same location on each side of the door. I had told my contractor that I would paint the door before he came out to cut it down and install it; but little did I know that I spend several hours having to fill in holes, wait 2 days for it to dry, then spend time sanding it before I could even prime and paint it. I also underestimated how deep some of the natural splits were in the wood and I assumed (incorrectly) that the primer and paint would fill those - by the time I realized that some of them would show in the final production, it was too late to fix them. 2-stars My other issue with the door is that when the door was assembled in the factory, someone handled the glass with bare hands and there are smudge marks on the inside of the two layers of glass that I have no way of cleaning out. 0-stars. Ultimately, I like the door a lot. I see all the flaws, but probably no one else will. And I spent considerably less money on getting a new door and casing fabricated. If you are going to buy this door make sure that you are prepared to fully "finish" it - possibly fill in all holes and cracks with wood putty and have a small personal sander with a fine-grit sandpaper. I will say that painting the latticework at the top was really easy - no taping required - just let it completely dry and scrape off any paint on the glass with a fine razor blade. I tried to post several pictures of the door in various stages, but HD will only let me post 1 image - so I picked this image so you can see how much wood fill just one side needed.

Only installed a week or so but so far so good and everything is as expected. If you buy the unfinished model and plan to paint, be sure to wood fill the knots before painting, it looks rough otherwise

This is a gorgeous door and 100% as advertised. It's knotty alder so YES there are knots. If you don't want knots, maybe don't go with a KNOTTY alder solid wood door. Would definitely recommend.

beautiful door ,great look, great price

I previously left a review (jessicann) but after having it installed for some time we've noticed it has pretty poor insulation if you live in a cold area. We are in Upstate New York with cold winters and we get a very cold draft around the door, even after we added weatherstripping. It is also very hard to lock as I believe it is slightly warped, but it was very hard to prove that through pictures to their customer service team. I do still believe it is a beautiful, high quality door but take the insulation of the door into account if you live in a cold area. We are looking into professional installment of higher quality weather stripping so hopefully that will help. I will be so disappointed if we end up having to replace the door for fiberglass.
