Didn’t make any noticeable difference in gloss. Ended up manually sanding cabinets by hand. A waste of effort and money.

Oh no, not something we like to hear, Patti. For best results using Rust-Oleum Krud Kutter Gloss-Off Prepaint Surface Preparation, use the product full strength, do not dilute. Saturate a coarse, lint-free cloth, and apply to surface in a circular motion. Fold and re-saturate cloth frequently. Wipe off with a clean cloth, turning cloth often to avoid smears. When the clean, de-glossed surface is dry to the touch (usually about 10 minutes), a new finish can be applied. This worked like a charm. Needed to paint some dark wood paneling. Krud Kutter lifted the gloss and really cleaned the paneling, prepping it for my primer paint! I am well pleased with the results! Have another bottle for my next project.

I used Krud Kutter to prep an oak staircase and oak cabinets for refinish. The original finish was lacquer, and I did not want to strip it. The staircase was completed two years ago, and there hasn't been any chipping or peeling of the new finish. I'm working on the cabinet doors now. I recommend this product.

I am preparing my kitchen cabinets for painting and, after using the regular Krud Kutter degreaser, this stuff managed to remove even more baked in sediment. I would recommend all the Krud Kutter products!

WOW! I learned about this from DIY videos for painting kitchen cabinets. I was amazed at how easily it cleaned and removed the gloss. Then I used it on some wood tiles that had lost their finish and were grungy and black with grime. I highly recommend this. Remember to wear gloves.

I used this to knock the gloss off polyurethaned kitchen...
I used this to knock the gloss off polyurethaned kitchen cabinets. I used Scotch Bright scour pads first after a 10 minute "soak". Then the rag and rub until the shine was gone. A lot of work but primer and paint adhered wonderfully. Gave it a 4 because of the time it took but it worked.

This stuff really works. It cleans and deglosses quickly and effortlessly with no fumes or odors....
This stuff really works. It cleans and deglosses quickly and effortlessly with no fumes or odors. I simply poured a small amount into a plastic coffee can and soaked an old wash cloth in it...rubbed it on the surfaces being prepped and wiped it off with an old hand towel. The surface is ready to paint in 10 minutes. I wore latex gloves. You can sand any imperfections after 10 minutes (the old paint is softened for a short time and won't sand well if attempted too soon). The new paint bonds very well to the prepped surfaces. It's so nice to not have all the dust and rough, dry hands associated with sanding.

Redoing woodwork throughout house, using latex paints on previously glossy oil-based. This product is great for deglossing / cleaning and easily gets into all crannies of baseboards, doors, etc. Some rooms were done over a year ago and have had no problem with the adhesion of the latex paint. Easy to use, no toxic odor and easy clean-up - great stuff! Highly recommend and have used on a variety of surfaces.

Rust-Oleum Krud Kutter Gloss-Off Prepaint Surface Preparation is a no rinse, one-step formula is specially designed to prepare high gloss and other hard-to-stick-to surfaces for repainting or refinishing.
