What you described is not typical of Loctite PL Premium Construction Adhesive if it is still within the usable shelf life of 12 months from the date of manufacture, unopened. As with all items sold through retailers, a product exhibiting an issue should be returned to the place of purchase for exchange or refund.

A 10 oz. cartridge of Loctite PL Premium Polyurethane Construction Adhesive should theoretically dispense approximately 30.6 ft. of product for a 1/4” bead size and approximately 13.6 ft. for a 3/8” bead size. If you feel there was less, it's possible you may have purchased a defective or expired product. As with all items sold through retailers, a product exhibiting an issue should be returned to the place of purchase for exchange or refund.

The issue you described is referred to as "after-flow.” Typically, this is caused by cutting the nozzle too small and/or exerting excessive pressure during application with a caulking gun. It can also be caused by a rapid rise in temperature. Releasing the push rod on the caulking gun and tapping the cartridge downward will help eliminate the problem.
