It was a Christmas present, we drove 30 miles to get it because it wasn’t available at any other store. Once we opened it we noticed the door hinge was broken! Now we have to return it.

My first masterbuilt I bought in 2007 great smoker but time and weather did in in. So I got the identical smoker and I love it. Design is the same so it must be proven product. Keep up the good work masterbuilt.

Great smoker. It is not without limitations. Definitely need to add another chip box. A high quality thermometer with internal and ambient temperature is a must. More smoke and proper temp you will Have great results.

Easier start up than old unit this one replaced. Like the larger chip pan also

First time ever to use a smoker. I just purchased it for Thanksgiving 2023. Used it to do my Thanksgiving turkeys (2). They turned out perfect. Simple to use.

Easy to assemble. Works well for a novice like me. Biggest question is where to store it when not in use.

A smoker needs to stay around 225 degrees to smoke meat. If it is slightly cool outside, this smoker will not reach that temperature. When it is 65 degrees outside, my smoker can only get to around 190 degrees. This smoker is a thin metal single wall box and it does not retain heat. You can only use this smoker in the summer when it is hot outside. I am very disappointed in it. I have had it 8 months and I am already shopping for a new smoker. Right now, I smoke the meat for a few hours to get some smoke flavor, then I bring the meat inside the house to finish cooking it in the oven since the smoker will not get hot enough.

Easy to assemble. Easiest with a helper (for flipping it over to attach the legs). Be careful standing the unit up (don't use the legs as a pick up point). We dud and one of the securing screws pulled out of the leg...bummer. so now I have a new wobbly smoker. This was my 2nd purchase of a similar smoker by thus mfg. The first one lasted a very long time and produced excellent results. Perhaps the legs on this unit need to be redesigned for better strength and support.

I've been one happy smoker! Simple to assemble, easy to clean once you read the owner's manual. Reasonable price.

DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bought this piece of junk a couple years ago. Used it only a hand full of times and did a lousy job on smoking a couple briskets, but that was on me. The unit then sat for probably a couple years. We brought it out and tried it all again. The very second we plugged this piece of junk into the wall, it IMMEDIATELY popped the GFCI on the house. If you go online to look for reviews, or YouTube, you’ll see all the other people complaining about the GFCI popping issue. I can tell you first hand that this is a fundamental flaw with these JUNK Masterbuilt products. Masterbuilt ……… it’s tough to type that because this JUNK is ANYTHING but. Some guys use a torch on the elements to try to fix this. I didn't want to do that so the OTHER fix is to replace the heater elements. Sooooooo I spent like $25 on new heating elements and guess what, it worked. Soooooo now there’s also ANOTHER known problem that Masterbuilt continues to spit out on the assembly line for a bunch of unknowing customers like you and me to buy………. Faulty burner elements. With the new burner, I used the unit twice. I smoked a pork shoulder and some ribs with some new recipes and they came out GREAT. Went to smoke another brisket and guess what again, this PIECE OF JUNK turns on, but shuts off in a matter of only a couple minutes!!!!! JUNK!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a different issue than the tripping of the GFCI. That’s right, we’re up to THREE issues now with this piece of JUNK. But guess what, there’s more!!!!!!!!! Problem number FOUR ……. This piece of JUNK, when the burner was “temporarily working, I noticed it wasn’t burning the wood chips properly and that the chips would just sit in the tray and not burning. This is “supposed to be” a Smoker!!!!!!! Guess what, go on YouTube and check out how many other people are experiencing the same thing where their "SMOKERS" aren't producing any "SMOKE"!!!!!!! Really Masterbuilt?????!!!!! Really???!! What’s the point of having a smoker if it doesn’t produce smoke???????!!!! Then, believe it or not, IT GETS WORSE!! Customer Service is NONEXISTENT. They don't offer a phone number to actually speak to someone on their website .... go figure ..... so you have to fill out one of those online forms so that you can't respond to any response you get. Guess what, they send a "boiler plate" email saying this is where you can buy spare parts and other nonsense and don't specifically address the specific problem. JUNK I'm going to do a copy/paste of this verbiage and put this review on ev-er-y website that I can find that sells this JUNK until Masterbuilt makes this right with me.

This model works very well and does a great job. It's plain, simple and easy to handle. We bought the same model again since our 1st one lasted 4 years.

Good for us but it would be better if it had a door just for chips.

Having to open and close the smoker to load wood chips really defeats the purpose and constantly drops the temperature making it difficult to regulate. Also fresh wood means new gray smoke every time so it's rarely burning clean smoke. This is only good for things that you want smoked in an hour or less because that's about how frequently you have to load new wood.

Temp control takes a lot of attention. Constant adjustments throughout the cooking cycle. I would have gotten the one with auto temp controls if it was in stock.

The family love the way it smoke bake beans and the rib and you can cut down the cooking time by adjusting the temp knob.

My unit died on probably its 8th or 9th use. One turkey breast trashed. I felt like the dad at the end of "A Christmas Story" — It was gone! All gone! No turkey! No turkey sandwiches! No turkey salad! No turkey gravy! Turkey hash! Turkey a la king! Or gallons of turkey soup! Gone! All gone!

I bought this smoker as an entry level smoker to get a feel for smoking meats. It worked pretty well initially. Then after about the 3rd or 4th use, the thermometer stopped working. As we neared one year, and only 3-4 uses, the unit started to trip my circuit breaker. The heating unit somehow trips the breaker.

I have the 30inch analog, just wanted a simple smoker. The issue is with the power cord assembly (for lack of a better description). Every time I tried it on to season it, kept tripping the breaker. I tried one more time but this time the outdoor extension cord and the power cord fused together and tripped the circuit breaker again. To replace the power cord you have to replacer the entire power cord/ heating elements panel, LOL. The cost isn't worth it, it more than half the cost of a new smoker. I am opting for. Better Brand of Smoker. Extremely Disappointing MastBuilt, LOL LOL LOL, never again

It’s a pretty decent smoker for a beginner like myself. My biggest complaint is the the analog controls. I think they need to be revamped a bit. Maybe add actual temperature numbers to the adjustment knob. There was A LOT of trial and error to get a proper temp. Other than that I enjoy the smoker.

I have had three of these smoker units They are fairly expensive, so I guess you get what you pay for. The electric heating element only last a very short time. I only paid approx. $100 for the whole unit at Tractor Supply. The replacement heating element would cost $99.98 on the website.
