Used product 3 weeks ago and my grass is now dying. Do not use this product under any circumstance. I now have to spend significant $$$ to repair it.

First time using this product. Followed instructions and it severely burned back my centipede. sprayed 4/22/25 Raleigh NC. Will not purchase again. will pay a professional next time. Was concerned after reading other people had same issue, but tried it anyway.

I used thos around a month ago and now my grass is dyeing.

I don't have a lot of nutsedge, just a couple of spots that came over from a neighbor. So I purchased a bottle of the hand spray to test it on the lawn before I did the entire lawn. In the first spot that I did, the spray killed all the grass. I know I didn't have that much nutsedge so I tested 2 other spots where I knew there was no neusedge. It killed all the grass as well.

The Ortho Nutsedge Weed Killer certainly did it's job. Applied as instructed and did not harm the grass.

Nutsedge weeds were popping up all over my lawn and I purchased the Ortho Nutsedge weed killer at Home Depot without reading the review. To my dismay this product killed everything, both the weed and my grass. My lawn has patches all over now. I took a picture of my lawn about a week later which is attached but now it's even worse.

I have a heavy concentration of nutsedge. So, far so good. I see death on many pods. I'll keep applying as suggested until its all gone. Ortho suggests every 3-4 weeks. A concentrate would be nice. One suggestion is to cut your lawn before applying. The pics are results four days after application.

This product should be relabeled or taken off the market. The claim is that it doesn't kill lawns. Well, yes, in fact, it does kill lawns...specifically, Raleigh and perhaps Floratam St. Augustine. Sprayed an area where the Nutsedge was the most dense, and now the grass is well on it's way to dying. Not at all happy. Buyer beware.

Had high hopes for this product and sprayed it on Nutsedge intermixed in Raleigh St. Augustine grass under benign conditions. Now a few days later the grass is dying along with the Nutsedge. Very disappointed. "Kills weeds, not the lawn" has not been my experience. Not interested in the small refund, the damage has been done. Have to hope the grass can recover next Spring. Good thing it was a test run on a relatively small area.

I applied this per the instruction, with the version the you connect to a garden hose. The first week it felt like a miracle worker, as only the Nutsedge died. The other grass was still perfect. Then after about 2 weeks, the regular grass looked “shocked”. Over the next 2 weeks it died in anything from splotchy areas to larger areas. I’m very picky with my lawn care, which is why when the Nutsedge started I wanted to take care of it. It’s supremely disappointing, as I’m now going to have restore/replant large sections of my grass. I have attached photos of both the parts of my lawn where I didn’t spray, and the parts I did.

I used this very sparingly on numerous nutsedge plants with no improvement. The grass around the plants slightly yellowed, but recovered within a week. I then tried using it more heavily and in larger areas to see if it would be more effective. I now have spots that are completely dead. I would test this in inconspicuous locations before using it in your front yard as I did.

I used this product exactly as directed. It killed most of my lawn and the nutsedge has again come back in the places where the lawn is dead. Use at your own risk.

Used 2 applications 1 week apart. Didn't work. Not even a color change let alone kill the weed.

I purchased this product to kill my weeds in my lawn and am disappointed. It did NOT touch all the clover in the yard. It also turned the nice green grass to a brown/greenish color. This product is used with your garden hose and should be a proper mix. By the looks of my yard it may have been to strong.

I've used Nutsedge killer for several years with great success but never used Ortho. Look st the below picture. I care for my lawn like a baby and this just blew my mind. It not only killed everything where i sprayed, but my irrigation system runoff caused a stream of dead grass where it drained. Other brands killed only the Nutsedge, never the Bluegrass and Tall Fescue

I've tried other weed killers to get rid of the nut grass that invaded my lawn but this works the best. I just spray the weeds liberally and they die and haven't regrown since. I am very pleased with this nutsedge killer.

My front lawn was full of nutsedge about 3" high. I applied Ortho Nutsedge as directed on the bottle. One week later the nutsedge was gone. I will reapply as necessary if any of it grows back. Good product, simple to use, and it works!

Works great, but don't use it in extreme heat it'll kill your grass

Per another review here, "the hose attachment version is 1.4 % active ingredient and the ready to use is 0.05. Thats 28 time more dilute. So if one uses 1/2 a cup (4 oz) of the hose product and adds 14 cups of water (14 x 8oz = 112oz) it almost equals a gallon (128oz) of the ready to use concentration". I did this and put in my pump sprayer. Worked great, nutsedge started dying after a day and after 4 days is brown and shriveled. The other grass does not seem to be affected and the near gallon I mixed up treated my entire lawn. Great product! The attached picture shows the nutsedge brown and dying after 4 days, please don't mind the brown grass around that area, that is thanks to Truegreen and their horrible service, (also the reason why I had to buy this product, they could not seem to kill all the nutsedge).

This review is for the 32oz bottle with hose adapter. I bought it at my local Home Depot. This product worked as advertised. I applied it to my back yard and front yard. However, it did not kill the weeds in the back, only the front. I believe the difference is in the application. The time of application was in the evening at around 7pm, still daylight but not direct sun. I sprayed about a 40 sqft area in my back yard for about 5 minutes, which might have been too quick. Then I sprayed about 200 sqft in the front for about 15-20 minutes, on occasion switching to water only to allow the ground to soak. There is a "water-only" selector on the bottle itself, which I discovered too late and now realize why it is there. The result is that the nutsedge in the front yard became yellow/brown within 24 hours as seen in the picture. The back yard is still the same. According to Ortho, it is against EPA rules to spray more than once a year... I am not going to count a 5 minute application as my yearly application of the backyard, so I will probably try again in a few weeks or try a different spot in case there are delayed results. The only CON, the price for a 32oz bottle at $15 a bottle is too high, in my opinion. Also, 200 sqft is about the max effective area. So I would only consider this product for spot applications only. For anything more than the size of a large bedroom, I would recommend calling a professional or trying another product, because while having to go through numerous bottles you might end up with misapplication problems, such as overlapping areas at different concentrations, and potentially hurting your lawn.

After searching on line and finding all information which basically said Poa Annua cannot be controlled by homeowners, only professionals. I tried this product, and lo an behold it has killed the invasive Poa annua in my Kentucky bluegrass lawn. Thank you Ortho, but how about a larger size?

I was skeptical about the claim that this kills Poa Annua, but no longer. It Works! After reading all the websites on Poa Annua with no success, I tried Ortho Nutsedge Killer and voila, the Poa is dying. Hooray! You have to advertise this more to help others with the problem I had.

This product is easy to use and does not cause overspray. Like all nutsedge killers it takes a few days to completely kill it. But it does kill it. So good job
