A waste of money. even on sale
Purchased January 2023, come November 2023 it no longer is capable of raising or lowering the blade as the piece snapped. I have called 3x each time is an hour or more before needing to go back to work, Finally got someone after 2 hrs, to then send me to the next person who read off a script and offer no assistance accept go online to find the next service center (2hrs away) to have them fix it, if they can't they will send the "closest compatible". I wish I could just return this garbage.

I have used the saw a few times now, and have been very pleased with the results. One thing to note... the installation instructions are are not very clear, and is missing a critical step to allow the saw to stand up on it's own. I even spent time with product support texting pictures back and forth, and they determined the saw was missing some parts and told me to take it to the local store for a refund. I did that, then re-ordered a new unit. I encountered the same problem with the new unit. If it hadn't been for a You-tube video on the installation, I would have been lost. The video also didn't include this step, but after staring at the picture of the completed installation, I figured out what was wrong. The only other thing that is cumbersome is the anti-kickpack pawl... it is difficult to get it to latch into it's place, and it very stiff to move once in place. Sometimes a piece of wood will be blocked by it not lifting up for the wood. But so far, I am happy with the unit and its ability to perform my needed tasks.

    Great saw
I've had mine about a year now, it required some tuning out of the box but 99.9% of table saws do. Plenty of power for dense hardwoods, accurate rack and pinion fence and the ability to accept a ado stack. The rip capacity is huge, way more than I'll ever use. It's not a high end cabinet saw by any stretch if the imagination, but it serves my needs well. I consistently get perfect glue ready rips and miters as long as I do my part.

      ridged table saw
I bought this saw because my dad's old metal saw was really to hard to figure out (1970). or before. the first one the knob striped out .took it back. the second has now striped out. the knows are all plastic. so if your not very careful they break. was trying to lock the blade back in after changing it. and the plastic lock broke. not a chance I would ever buy one again. it might do okay on very small projects but on big ones. bought a blade for cedar. and it could barely cut it. I five this saw a thumbs down. if I could get what I paid for it back. I would buy a commercial table saw .

I love this saw. It is easy to move/store and a joy to use.
I love this saw. It is easy to move/store and a joy to use. Folding and unfolding are amazingly simple procedures (although it does take a minute to first lower the riving knife and store the blade guard & anti kickback assembly). Once folded up it is roughly 26”x 26” x44” if you include all the handles that poke out, but it looks much smaller. The top surface is 21"x26.5”, and the main body is about 14 inches tall. I definitely considered getting the much heavier R4560 model, but I will need to roll my saw from my garage to the back patio every time I use it, and the larger wheels on the R4550 make that a lot easier. Also, all the wall space in my garage is already pretty much spoken for, but there is a double door and a single door; when folded, this compact saw easily fits in the space between the doors. Ridgid has a lot of experience building electric motors for their famous garage vacuums that run efficiently and more quietly than most so I expect similar, long-term performance from this saw. The dust collection system is fantastic, but be sure to plug the vacuum and the saw into two different electrical circuits or you might blow the breaker. This saw arrived perfectly aligned to the rip fence. The riving knife is also dead-on. Even the scales for the fence are perfect (use the black scale when the fence is attached to the black pegs and the orange scale when the fnece is attached to the orange pegs). One concern I have is that the miter gauge I received has some play in the slots (see attached video). I am accustomed to using the miter gauge to guide my material when cross cutting so I need it to stay true. I am also a little concerned about the auxiliary, flip-down fence. I don’t understand why the auxiliary fence is not parallel to the main fence. The gap between the fence and the auxiliary fence is much wider on the exit side than near the entrance which seems counterintuitive. I highly recommend watching the video of the assembly that is included in the Home Depot listing; however, also use the Operator’s Manual to follow along because the guy in the video leaves out some important steps. The manual also includes instructions for aligning and adjusting the saw and instructions for building a push stick, auxiliary miter gauge facing, a push block, a feather board, and a cut off gauge. I have used table saws while helping friends out, but this is the first one of my own. When I started building stuff I purchased a 14” radial arm saw and built a custom table around a 12’ section of industrial roller table. However, it was destroyed in a flood. I have been getting by with a skill saw and a cut-off saw for almost a decade, but there is a bit of work to do on my new house so I ordered this table saw to make it easier.

Great mid-range portable table saw. Onboard storage for all accessories. Geared fence.
Check out my video overview of the features of this saw. See video link below. It will answer questions about how portable it is, how the on-board storage works, and how to adjust the fence in the 3 primary positions. For a mid-range saw, with a built in stand, you can't go wrong here. The stand is integral to the unit. It cannot be detached. That's OK. It works very well in both the storage and operating positions. Stored on edge, it takes up little room in my storage shed. It should work well in many utility trailers. This is an upgrade for me. I started with a non-portable saw I bought a few years ago. I came to dislike many features, especially the fence. On this Ridgid R4550, the fence is a joy. It can be a bit confusing because it has 3 main positions: 1) Left, 2) Right, 3) Right-extended, using the swing-piece as a kind of table extension. This is best seen in the video. Most importantly, the fence works on a geared knob that adjusts both sides. There is no skew like you get with "snap on" fences on cheaper models. The swing-extension on the fence also can act as a close-in fence that allows the safety features (saw guard) to work effectively. You just subtract 2" from the fence gauge. Otherwise, there are no surprises: this is a standard table saw. It has a miter accessory with an appropriate groove in the table. All standard safety features are available. The throat plate has adjustments for leveling, and it is important to know that the standard provided plate will not accept a dado blade. Assembly took me 45 minutes. I took my time. There are no surprises. The instructions were beautiful. If you expect to operate a table saw, then you are qualified to assemble it. I spent another 30 minutes just trying adjustments, from blade angle to fence adjustments. I encourage you to try the various fence positions to understand them. Based on position, you also have two different measuring gauges to properly understand. Overall, I'm very happy with this saw. My old one goes in the recycling bin. It isn't even worth selling. This saw is so much better and safer. Made in Taiwan

        lots of great features
I love Rigid tools and this Table Saw is no exception. Assembly out of the box took about an hour. It was simple, instructions were easy to follow, and it went together with ease. I did watch a video on the Home Depot app to give some tips on assembly. The stand is easily portable, but one main caution, make sure it is latched when you move it. Mine was a little loose so I have to make sure that it is latched correctly. It does move easy and then set up is quite simple. Unlatch it, by pressing the latch with your foot, and guide it to full height. Once in place, plug it in and get to work. The on/off switch has a safety cover on it which is nice. A couple of nice features: the fence is simple to move from side to side, as well as, to expand to your desired cut. The blade height is also easy to adjust and on the same mechanism, you can adjust for miter cuts. When cutting there is a housing over the blade to keep your hand out, and the anti-kickback system is an added precaution. There is a lot of power in this saw. The 15amp motor is perfect to handle any cut. When cutting wood, it goes through smooth with a great cut from the 40 tooth blade. There is also a tool that enables you to push the wood through so you don't get too close to the blade. This saw is built for safety. Another thing I like about this saw is that because of the portability, it is well thought out with holding all your accessories on board for transport. They are conveniently placed on the sides. I also like the cord wrap that keeps the cord out of the way when moving. This Rigid saw is amazing and I look forward to many years of use from it

        Just unboxed & assembled R4550.
Build quality is rock-solid. Saw bevel came in just a hair off vertical at the 0 degree stop. Adjustment was easy. Fence, blade & table are dead straight & square with each other. Miter gauge, unfortunately, is not. Love everything else.

They thought of everything on this saw. There’s a place for the attachments and tools, a place to wind the cord, easy adjustments for everything, table, angles, height. It’s all quick and locks quick. I love the wheeled stand and how easily it folds and locks into folded or standing positions in seconds. Very smooth. Best tool I’ve bought all year.

Out of the box there were some quality issues. The measure tape is bubbled, the miter bar has issues sliding in the slot, the plastic throat plate has a lot of flex and the rear of the plate will not sit flush with the table even after adjustments. After getting the box home, noticed the riving knife was actually protruding from the bottom of the box. Tried reaching out to Ridgid but am unable to get a response. Probably should have bought the contractor saw instead.

Once assembled, the saw works well. Unfortunately, the directions are hard to read as the pictures are small. In addition, it needed significant calibration of the fence which was out of skew.

          Don't go by the reviews
Don't go by the reviews , they are not all referencing this saw , the saw is the new 4550 which I have and is a great saw . People are reading reviews on the older models and it doesn't do this new model justice , the 4550 is a great saw.

It's been a while since I've had a new saw, so I'm easily impressed. But it's seems to be the right combination of light yet powerful and not feel cheap. And I love the stand.

            Poor Quality Control
The 4550 is going back to Home Depot before ever plugging in. The riving knife is so far off, there are no adjustments correcting this issue. The adjustment screws are almost impossible to reach. What a poor design. The front adjustment screw was easy to adjust but the rear adjustment will not budge. The rear feels like it is cross treaded with blue loctite and welded in there. Calling Rigid customer support was unsuccessful as I was caller 1 in the cue for over an hour before giving up.

After fully assembling the saw I noticed that the plastic shield that directs dust and blocks (safety) the blade under the table was shattered in several places. Reaching Ridgid for support was very difficult. Ultimately my options were to bring the saw to a service center for repair /replacement or to return to home Depot since it was within 90 days. I returned the saw. I would have considered a replacement if they had one in store but home Depot did not. I think the return was the best option anyways as I'm skeptical that the large number of plastic parts would hold up. The stand was also inconsistent as the latch to hold (spring loaded) when open or closed popped open several times.

Good saw - Assembly is challenging
This saw is an excellent value and the portability is a nice bonus. That being said expect a challenging assembly. The directions are awful and the labeling on parts is well, there is none. Once assembled this is a good job site saw.

Saw “jumps” when turning it on, similar to the cheap $150-$200 table saws. Has LOTS of plastic trinkets In the way of the blade which makes using the saw quite dangerous. If you are able to make a cut without your piece getting caught on the Riving Knife then it does cut okay but the riving knife catches almost every board. The stand is nice and works well

Not like my 10 year old one.
I’m remodeling a house in Florida and I got tried of dragging my to year old saw ( which has been a work horse) back and forth so I bought a new one. As soon as the remodel is done this saw is going. So much cheaper and lighter. Not worth the money. Wish I had seen an unboxed saw before I purchased.

I haven't had a table saw for a number of years and needed one for a home addition we are doing. This Rigid saw with stand & wheels has been one of the most helpful tools I purchased for our project. The ability for me to fold it up and put it away in just a couple of minutes has been wonderful. The flexibility and ease of use has made me wish I had bought this years ago. I can highly recommend this saw!
