Needs a built-in HEPA filter like the DeWalt, Hiltix and probably several other brands have. In fact, I am pretty sure the HEPA filter is now an OSHA reauirement to filter out silica dust and prevent Silicosis whichbis a terrible disease.

We have a back patio that the skirt tiles have fallen off and need to remove the old masonry, concrete and thinset. This 18V RIDGID SDS-Plus Rotary Hammer made short work of all the demo and cleaning of the stucco with the residual left after removing the rest of the tiles (See photos of before and after). We also use this to make holes for tapcon plus concrete anchors, no surprise the tool in impact drill mode, cuts through the concrete like cheese. Like our other RIDGED tools, the interchangeable 18V batteries provide plenty of power for our needs. The brushless motor also helps.

This is a 18 V Cordless 1 inch Rotary Hammer by Rigid. It is solid and high quality. I live in an old stone house and I use it to drill holes for conduit to install outside outlets. I also use it to remove cracked mortar and to repoint joints in the stone. In the past I used a hammer drill with a cord that burn out. This is much more convenient and durable.

Just squeeze the quick release and adjust the depth gauge. Release the quick release and the depth gauge locks into place. This RIDGID tool is very different from other tools that I have. It is a three in one tool. It has a regular drill. A hammer drill and a chisel drill. It does not weigh a lot so it is easy to operate. The extra handle is adjustable from bottom to side. It does have an internal clutch for power. It also has an adjustable depth rod which will come in handy for certain applications. It also has a very bright LED light on the bottom so you can see what you are doing. It takes an 18 volt RIDGID battery. It says it has DVR which means dual vibration reduction. A very handy tool.

The RIDGID 18V Brushless Cordless 1 in. SDS-Plus Rotary Hammer is packed with features you'd want in a tool, The vibration control in the handle makes it very comfortable to use for longer periods. The four position switch feels well made with positive stops for each position. Unfortunately I only had a 2ah battery when I was testing the tool so it lacked its full power potential. In short if you are into the Ridgid platform this is a good buy

I was in need of a rotary hammer to replace a fence post. This SDS plus hammer did what I needed. It made quick work of the cement surrounding a wooden fence post. I had to get some batteries and SDS-Plus bits to use this fully. It does not come with anything besides the tool itself. The tool is light and easy to use. It includes some disconnect between the drill and the handle so you are not aggressively shaken when using the tool.

SDS-Plus Rotary Hammer, this 18V Cordless Rotary Hammer features a high performance brushless motor and advanced electronics, all RIDGID 18V batteries will fit this tool, this tool has many high performance electronic features like the brushless motor technology, I really like the Extreme Vibration Reduction which minimizes vibration, the keyless chuck, and it has a mechanical clutch to help minimize torque, and of course the variable speed control, the auxiliary handle with adjustable depth rod make this hammer easier to control and adjust bit depth, all though it is called a rotary hammer I use it as a Drill just by using the 3 mode selector to manually select between Hammer, Drilling and Chisel Modes. This is a great tool and with a Lifetime Service Agreement.

I finally have a large drill that has a chisel function. I have been confusing impact, hammer, SDS and chisel drills for some time. The key was the three settings (minimum) on the drill. This RIGID drill has normal drilling (rotating), hammer drilling (still rotating with a punch) and chisel (vibrate in and out, not rotating). It also has a setting to allow you to orient the chisel bit. See the VIDEO for a tutorial. I was able to easily chisel out some mortar on three parts of my house's flagstone bricks. When the mortar cracks, it needs more space to actually re-mortar. the RIGID cut through like butter. It also cut through the flag stone when drilling in hammer drill mode. The drill has a nice depth gauge for shorts (no chisel) drill bits. In both the chisel and hammer drill modes, I didn't get any drift. The front handle adds stability and can be oriented in any direction around the drill shaft. I move the handle up a bit so the LED light on the front bottom can illuminate my drill area under the back porch. The bit chuck holds SDS bits only although I read an adapter is available to hold regular bits. There is a mini shock absorber on the top back to relieve some strain on the arms when drilling. I measured the weight to be about six pounds with the 4Ah battery. The drill can do forward and reverse by pressing the rear side buttons. Variable speed is controlled by how much you press the trigger. There are no 1 and 2-speed modes. I am very satisfied with the performance. Excited actually. The batteries purchased separately have a lifetime warranty. I picked up two and a charger for $99 at HD. They are strong enough for my home DIY uses. I can finally patch the cracks the lady has been bugging me to do for years. I didn't want to hand chisel. Overall, fantastic drill by RIGID. Good product.

I never question Ridgid products and here is another prime example. This hammer drill is full of power and definitely competes with the Makita electric I rented from HD. I really wanted one to drill through some extremely thick brick and concrete and that's exactly what I got. The chisel attachment wad a game changer for removing old tile in my bathroom. Although the bits are expensive the SD+ truly rise above the rest of masonry bits. With the lifetime guarantee its a no brainer. People complain about the Ridgid warranty but I have never had a problem and have had 2 tools replaced. One was 10 years old, take it to home depot , it either gets repaired or replaced. Registration is a breeze but make sure you do it ! It's usually approved within a few weeks. Love the new tool in my arsenal.

This is actually a very nice drill. It is powerful and fast, making short order of your task. The battery consumption is reasonable considering it is hammering and drilling. The weight is just right and the lack of vibration was unexpected. Rigid did it again, i am very pleased.

Love this tool definitely use it more than I thought I would. Takes a regular sds . The other very nice feature is that in chisel mode you can lock it at different locations very handy.

I bought a Ridgid 18V brushless cordless rotary hammer for drilling holes into frozen ground for snow stakes. It has performed well for 3 years. It has saved hours of grief hauling an extension cord around to drill holes with my corded rotary hammer. I can highly recommend it.

Would not have been able to stay on budget and time demoing (2) bathroom floors without this tool. 18v 6 amp hour battery was the MVP!

This 18 volt brushless SDS Rotary drill from Ridgid had zero issues making 1" wide holes in concrete. Used the chisel setting with a spade bit to easily carve out space in the block to install electrical boxes. Worthwhile investment if you value saving time.

Worked great for a while but then while using the chipping function to remove thinset it stopped holding the locked position, very frustrating. Only good news is it can be replaced with great lifetime service.

It’s a good tool to use specially on concrete demolish it easily without any problems good to use on home projects not on commercial or large construction use.

I was very impressed with how well this tool worked and wondered why I waited so long to buy one.

Drills as good as the corded hammer drill I have. Way more convenient than dragging a cord around.

It did exactly what I needed it for. I spent way too much time on this task (45 mins). No other drills would drill into concrete wall to set an anchor for a water heater. I went and got it and it saved me sooooo much time. I was done in 5 mins.
