Seems to be rugged and do the job as advertised. I am not a plumber though.

I bought this after years of using the Ridgid auger (where you put the drill on the back of it). Never had a problem with the Ridgid but I needed a new small auger and gave the ryobi a try. It's a great idea that is poorly executed. The auto feed feature doesn't have enough grip to really push or pull it out. First use was on a bathroom sink the cable got stuck in the pipe and I had to pull it out. I like ryobi and have a good amount of there stuff. Returned that day.

Very effective in clearing bathroom drain. I like that it can be laid down when feeding snake into drain instead of having to hold it.

Great for small household plumbing issues, easy to use !!!will recommend this to everyone!

I needed at least 23 feet of snake cable to get to the area that was clogged in my kitchen sink drain - I discharged to end of cable, back and forth several times, extracted and tested the sink, and the clog was still there (and again 3 more times). So I decided to go out side to discharge all the cable and see how long it actually was. I carefully measured with a tape measure and the cable is ONLY 21 Feet long, when completely discharged from the spool. This loss of 4 feet of cable completely screwed me over and now I need an entirely new auger that actually has 25 feet. Besides this one major flaw the auger worked great, extracting and retracting, with p-trap and turns...

It was used an extensive amount of time. I am pleased to add this to my impressively large 18v Ryobi collection! You can't beat a Ryobi!! Some advice, eat more fiber!

Just got this from Home Depot two days ago. Used it today for first time. I was not even close to having it 20 feet in the pipe, and all of sudden the spinning and jumping cable came out of the housing, just missed my face. and landed on the floor. Well, all those that gave warning about the cable completely coming out, I should of listened. Also the front knob for the F-N-R modes, it would only lock into place in the F mode, N and R would not. And I was not done yet with getting the pipe cleaned out. I had also wanted the next model up that came with more than one end bit, the online app said they had three in stock, got to the store they had many of the real cheap one, only two of this model with only one tip, and the girl was unable to find any in the back that was the next model up that came with the two ends. And of course they had NO in stock pack of the four end bits. I was going to order them and have them shipped to me, but why now, I have a broken cable only to put them on!!!!

I've used this auger professionally for a few months, have cleared many a small drain with it. First, I deducted stars for the quick release head design. You can lose tips in drains and they are a pain to change out. Also it makes the last 2 or so inches stiff so it wont like going through fittings as well. I still like it better than augers you need two hands to operate.

As the title says, it's okay. There are no additional attachments, unless you upgrade to the next version. Which means you get a single cutting blade. Tried using other attachments, no luck. Unit works well and can get into tight spaces, however just wasn't enough for the job I needed it for. Definitely worth the money to not have to manually run a line and hand crack out.

Works Great. Got my clog fixed and did not have to spend tons of time hand-cranking. Also did not want to spend close to the same just to rent a similar tool.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this product. The problem is the standard auger bit and the small part that locks it on the end broke off in the drain. Since the locking part broke off.. I cannot just get a new bit. The bigger issues is, the parts where left in the pipe. This is a plumbing pipe which is after the tub system. Might be expensive to resolve my plumbing situation with the part still on the pipe.

Great tool. I borrowed one before. Had a new issue and having an older home I bought one. It was no help with my new tub issue. Currently a drum trap that is cleared up to where water exits trap. At that point it needs to make 2 90° turns and nothing including this tool could navigate that.

First, I am a huge fan of Ryobi and I have several power tools by them. This one was a lemon. The adjusting gears never quite fit together all the way and became frequently disengaged. Finally, the steel cable just fell off. I am sure I could find a way to reattach it but after watching some videos online it would seem I have to completely disassemble it first. Should I have to do that? I will be returning this shortly.

Works very well. Don’t know how well it would work on a stubborn clog, not a tremendous amount of power. But it is a drill, so…….

Need better instructions to get started

Had a clogged drain pipe behind our kitchen sink. Couldn't use sink, dishwasher or disposal. Instead of calling a plumber and since I already have Ryobi batteries, I bought this auger. Even with just the included bulb tip it cleared the clog. I've since bought a tip made for clearing clogs, and cleaned all the sink drains in my house. Now I have a cleared drain AND a tool, so if it happens again... I can do it myself and not have to call a plumber.

I purchased my first home last year I would advise any man to get this tool this will help save a lot of money on plumbing or anything you can do around the house this is one too you can use before you have to call the professional plumbers this will save you money in the end!!

I couldn't even turn the gray collar to change it from forward to backward. It took too much strength. So I took it back and got a manual snake.
