Can’t cut straight 90 degrees
Can’t get a 90 degree cut on foam core ABS, it keeps squeezing it and cutting it crooked

Love this for small home reno jobs!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve not had a ryobi product that I wasn’t impressed with yet.

Pure Garbage! If you need to make a quick cut for a diy project in which the pipe serves a purpose other than to carry water your golden. If your intention is to use this to make a straight cut you are better off using a jagged rock! I went through 5 feet of 2" PVC to try and get a straight cut and did not get close, I even sharpened the blade. At the end I noticed the blade has too much play to be able to do anything straight.

        Doesn't cut straight
Have been looking for a good PVC cutting tool and came across this one. Looked sturdy and I already have the Ryobi 18V battery. I made the purchase at the store today and came home to do a few test cuts. I tried about 6 cuts on 1-1/2" Schedule 40 PVC and it just can't make a straight cut. It's off by 1/4" on every cut. 1/2" pvc not so bad. Ryobi, is this a defective unit or has it just not been field tested? VERY disappointed.

We cut a lot of PVC pipe on our ranch, so this tool came in handy. It did not come with the battery or charger, which are different from other Ryobi batteries and chargers, so we had to wait until we could get that to try it out. (2 weeks due to COVID-19 affecting delivery). It is easy to operate. Note the pictures on the insert, which shows this more clearly. It has an easy-release button so it doesn't stick. It cuts fast and clean.

Let's start with the one draw back I had, it's a bit large for some of those undercabinet, smaller spaces. Now from there nothing but Great !, cut out my old sprinkler valve plumbing in nothing flat, as was cutting all the sections to plumb all the elbow and tees for the new valves. What a time saver. Now we cut only Schedule 40 PVC Pipe 3/4 inch. Also cut a piece of 1 1/4 inch no problem and standard PVC 3/4 which seam to flexible and in one case broke before it cut. Features are, the trigger operates the blade both ways and there's a quick release on the side that opens the blade manually. The safety trigger guard takes a few to get the hang of, but one thing for sure if you even a bit-release your grip it stops. This is great. LED light to illuminate cutting surface, 3-year manufacturer's warranty. Includes: (1) P593 18-Volt ONE+ PVC and PEX Cutter and an operator’s manual --TOOL ONLY--

This is only the tool but we had a Ryobi base already, however, it wasn't the right one, so back to Home Depot to get the base which was expensive but worth it. Putting in piping at a friend's cabin and this was excellent. Cuts through the larger PVC and the Pex without damaging, especially without crushing even the smaller PVC piping. Would have given this 5 stars but concerned about the plastic casing not being as durable as other cordless tools.

Ryobi 18V cordless PVC/Pex cutter is a great option for my hydroponic setup. Cutting that much PVC for supply lines and drains with mechanical cutter would be very hard on my arthritic hands. I mistakenly thought one of my older compact Ryobi batteries would work with this cutter but find I must use the One+ 18V batteries. So I've ordered a new 2.5 Ah battery and charger. So I wasn't able to operate the tool for review, but can say the tool itself if substantial. It has a heft of weight to it and is substantial in build. I'd caution on the combined weight of the tool and larger battery. The design of the cutting end should hold the PVC securely and provide a straight cut. And the size of the blade and cutting area is easily large enough to accommodate a full 2 inch piece of material. The blade easily releases to open position and can be manually closed with a large green button. Instructions are helpful and clear. I'm happy more and more unique hand tools are being added to Ryobi's One+ system.

The Ryobi PVC/PEX cutter has been a great addition to my shop. Practical and straightforward, I use it to cut up to a 2-inch pipe. I have used it to cut washers out of PVC and pipe for my dust collection. It is over 5lbs with a battery, so not light, but this is not something I would be carrying around. It is built well, quiet, and has an all-metal jaw upfront. The only thing I wish they would have done differently is the LED. The LED is on or off. There is no light switch and the handle like there other tools, so the LED only operates when pulling the trigger, and the cutter is moving. This makes it pretty useless if I am trying to line it up for a cut in low light situations. I could hold the trigger to open the jaw, and the light would stay on, but the blade makes a popping sound, and it does not seem good for the tool. Pros: Easy to use. The blade is changeable. The jaw has a quick open feature. Easy to use safety switch. Solid metal jaw. Excellent and clean cuts. Cons: the LED can only be activated when the jaw is moving. No belt hook or rafter hook. Not even an option to add one. The packaging is a little off-putting. Well worth it, if you cut a lot of PVC or PEX, this makes the job very easy. I leave my hacksaw or manual cutters in the drawer now.

If you have ever cut PVC pipe, you can now get rid of your old hand cutters with this power PVC pipe cutter. Unless you get an extra large hand cutter, most of the hand cutters only cut up to 1-1/2" pipe or smaller. This Ryobi power cutter cuts up to 2" pipe. When using a ratchet hand cutter the cut usually ends up at an angle and not very square. This cutter squares the cuts much more precisely than the hand cutters. The speed at which it cuts is much faster than I would have imagined. A 1-1/4" pipe cut takes about 1 to 2 seconds if that. I have made about 50 cuts so far and the batter still shows 3/4 charge. The blade seems to remain just as sharp as the first cut and if it ever needs sharpening or replacement, it pops out very easily with a one button release. I have the beginning of arthritis in my right hand and this has and will save me a lot of time, effort and pain with projects cutting PVC. If you have any projects or jobs with a lot of cuts this is well worth getting.

These PVC and PEX cutter by Ryobi works really well. The cutter feels solid and robust in my hand and weighs about 3 1/2 pounds without the battery. Add a 4Ah battery and the weight increases to about 5 1/4 pounds. The included instructions were pretty easy to follow and ready to start cutting. I did not have any PEX tubing but tried the cutter on various sizes of PVC ranging from 1/2 inch up to 1 1/2 inch schedule 40 and the cutter worked flawlessly. The cutter can handle up to 2 inch PVC so should work for most all plumbing projects around the house and garden. Had to be careful and take my time to get a clean even cut but that's true with any PVC cutter. Some features I like were the quick release button allowing the blade to open up without the use of the motor as well as the LED light to help illuminate the working area if the light is dim. There is a quick release button for the stainless steel blade making blade changes simple and fast. It would have been nice if Ryobi included an extra blade, time will tell how long the included blade remains sharp. The cutter is part of the Ryobi 18V One+ family so if you already have Ryobi One+ tools the batteries will be interchangeable, which is one of the major benefits. Also, make sure to always wear safety glasses when using the cutter as I had a piece of PVC shatter while cutting and shards went all over the place.

This is a very impressive tool. I've performed plumbing jobs for decades and installed PVC (and PECS) for both drainage and electrical. Performing those jobs, we used a ratcheting hand tool to cut our PVC tubing. And it worked just fine except if you had a lot of tubing to run your hand could get pretty tired. Enter this Ryobi PVC & PEX tube cutter. If you already own any Ryobi 18 volt, One + power tools you're ready to go since this uses the same batteries. I used the 2 AH battery here but it will accept the 3AH and 4AH batteries as well. The tool description states it will cut 1/4 inch through 2 inch tubing but I was able to cut 21/4 inch tubing cleanly slicing off a section about 1/4 inch thick. The tool has 2 buttons on it's right side that you can see in my pictures. The first (larger) button is a sort of ratcheting closer that brings the cutter a little closer to the piece you want to cut without having to hold the trigger the whole time. It is very handy to get the blade closer to your work and each press of the button closes the tool in increments. The second (smaller) button is a quick release for the blade to allow you to sharpen or replace the blade quickly. But I don't imagine one will need to use this often as the blade is made of a heavy stainless and resists dulling quite well. The only thing I didn't like is the trigger which has a release that needs to be pulled down before the trigger can be pulled. Clearly prevents you from pulling the trigger prematurely and helping prevent accidents. But the trigger itself is a little difficult to pull (stiff) and in some cases I needed to hold the gun with one hand while pulling the trigger with the other. Again, this is likely a safety feature as I imagine the blade could cut through materials you wouldn't want to cut lest you risk a trip to the hospital. But I only found this a minor inconvenience since it caused me to slip off my cut mark a couple times. But I have all my fingers so It's an acceptable inconvenience. And my old ratcheting hand held tube cutter may go to the garage sale.

This tool is very well engineered. I like the quick open button you don’t have to run the cutter to open the jaw. You can cut down to 1/2” length of pipe on the one side. The cutting action is fast and we will see how long it takes to dull the blade. I have used this to cut different types of pvc and it works great. It is a little heavy if you use it for a long time cutting pipe. It is a little big to get into some tight spots.

Does a good job on thicker PVC. If you have irrigation pipe it is thinner and this will not cut it straight.

          It cuts, but it's big.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've only had this a short time but so far it works very well. The knife will go through everything it's supposed to and is a big help when you have multiple cuts. It's big but works the way it should. Time will tell if this lasts as long as it should.

Works great- if you aren’t working in a hole
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Over-all, I like it. You know how when you’re working with buried pvc and you have to dig a bigger hole than you want to so you can get the cutters into the hole?? With this puppy you need a big(ger) hole. The Engineers of this apparently don’t do landscaping sprinkler repair. I don’t know why they don’t put a neck on it with a rotatable head that could go in a hole.
