Piece of junk. Requires to many optional item to make function. And is not wireless like the description says. Each camera needs a plug in outlet That can be unplugged at the camera which defeats the purpose for which it’s intended.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but I cannot get the NVR to connect to my laptop and the directions appear to be written for someone familiar with CCTV systems. I'm sure the system will provide great results once it is up and working but for the average homeowner with no experience it is confusing. The system comes with all the necessary hardware but I did have to get an HDMI cable to connect the NVR to my laptop. I am currently waiting on REVO customer support some much needed help.

I've seen many of my friends and neighbors install security cameras and am glad it is now my turn to upgrade my home security. Friends have told me they had "a guy" set up their systems but I always figured I'd be the type to do it myself. This is a basic 4 camera system, some people have 16 cameras. But 4 is a good way to start out. It's called a wireless camera but you need to plug them into household 120 Volt AC power. Not always available on the outside of one's house. They are powered by 12 Volts DC off a "wall wart" so you could plug it in inside the house and run the 12 volt line through a hole in your house out to the exterior camera. Seal the hole with caulk. The instructions are short on the initial assembly of this system. There is some information available online. So I got everything put together and plugged the video cable into my big screen TV, but couldn't get a picture. Luckily I had a standard monitor in my closet from before when my computers didn't have a monitor attached to them. So I was easily able to link the cameras to the base. The manual is quite long and detailed. Lacking slightly through translation it seems, but with careful reading, can be followed. I noticed they have a phone support service. I think this is a good starter system. I suppose if you worked with these systems regularly it would become second nature. But us regular guys can figure it out.

I have to say the system is pretty remarkable from others I have seen, the cameras have a kind of large oval thing on the end that forces you to drill a rather large hole to get it through the wall...the users manual is close to useless...not easy to understand at all.

This is a good video surveillance system with only one downside. The electronics box is small and can fit almost anywhere, the cameras are nicely designed, have a great image, and good motion detection, and the whole thing ties together really well. The downside is that the plugs for the cameras will not fit into a recessed weatherproof outdoor electrical connection. The transformer end is really for a generic electrical product. It's long and designed for use in a power strip and just will not fit into a weatherproof enclosure. So now I'm trying to find a transformer plug that will fit and matches the voltage requirement of the cameras. They're not really indoor-outdoor right out of the box unless your plug is well protected or indoors. Otherwise a good product.

The Revo wireless camera system is a fairly cost effective system for adding some video surveillance to your home. It does work, and is pretty straight forward, but there are things you should know going in to this as to what it is, and what it isn't. Firstly, this is not an IP camera system. IP cameras use a dedicated IP address directly to your network system (i.e. your wifi router or hardwired network). These cameras use a proprietary wireless signal to talk to the base unit. I am not sure if this is able to be latched on to and viewed by outside parties or not. Regardless, for my purposes it doesn't matter. I have these mounted outside my house, so anything the cameras can see is already visible to the rest of the world anyways. I would call these cameras weather resistant, and not really waterproof. While I have no issues mounting them under the eaves of my house, I would definitely not mount them where they will be rained on directly or experience a lot of direct sunlight. That being said, they tend to hold up pretty well under the eaves. And you wouldn't want to mount a camera of this class in direct sun anyways as it would blow out the picture and negate having a camera in the first place. The power adapters do have a nice long cable, I'd say about 10 feet or so. They do plug into a short piece of wire connected to the camera that has a small dongle on the end. This has the power jack and a reset button housed in it. I would take care to keep that dongle out of rain and out of reach of anyone that might want to disable your camera system. My solution was to drill a hole large enough to pass the dongle into and make the connection to power then slip the dongle inside the wall. I screwed the camera mount over the hole to cover it up. Problem solved. Again, with these under the eaves of the house they are pretty well protected from sunlight and rain. I ran a cheap extension cord through the attic to the power adapter, and plugged them into an outlet I have up there for work lights, etc. You will have to figure out power to these. Should you have power under the eaves of your house (i.e. the outlets for Christmas lights) then just make sure that the camera would cover anyone approaching that may try to unplug them. Remember, the camera isn't going to stop crime, it's only going to help you track down who did something. And if someone is unplugging your cameras, you can bet they are up to no good! Once you have the cameras installed and powered you can move on to setting up the software and router. This device has a small router that must be connected to your incoming internet router to work. It does not replace your router. And no, it doesn't have Wifi either. You must you a cable to connect the two together. This allows you to use a phone either through the internet, or on your local network to view the video. The isn't a screen on this device, and there is no way to plug one in. It is for remote viewing by phone, tablet or PC ONLY. This means you can't view it on your TV either (that is unless you have a smart TV and actually find a TV app that will allow you to do it. Yes this is possible, but you would need to google to see if you can figure it out. More than likely you aren't going to be able to do that so just accept this system for what it is and use your phone to view the cameras. The software with the cameras, and the setup is actually quite easy. However if you have any problems the customer support for Revo is actually quite good and they can walk you through getting it up and going. Moving forward, the audio listening capabilities are pretty good, and the recording to the SD card does what it is supposed to do. I'm not expecting the world with such a low cost system, but it does detect motion, record video, and allow you to access it remotely. For me, this is good enough as if something happens at my house, I want to be able to direct the police towards suspects. IT is also pretty nice to be able to remote view the cameras and just check in on things. This is especially handy for parents wanting to make sure their kids are home on time, or not sneaking out. Just saying ;) You can add two more cameras to this system, but beyond that you will need either another system with camera router, or upgrade to a model with more camera capabilities. If 4 cameras would take care of your needs, this would work just fine for you. If you feel like you might eventually need more cameras, check out the other systems from Revo with up to 8 cameras. Keep in mind that all cameras will have to be within wireless range of the camera router, which can be up to 200 feet, but I found to be between 75 to 100 feet most of the time. The best part of this camera system is the low price, ease of installation, and that it just does what it says it will do. It does have audio, it does have infrared illuminators, it is wireless, it does record, and you can view it when you are away from home. Don't this to be 4K super high def, and don't expect color like you'd get from a blockbuster movie. Just expect good quality video from a reliable, and easy to install system and you'll be more than happy.

The Revo kit is an all-inclusive package that is nice for small or flexible installations. The small size and light weight are beneficial. If you need portability you could make stands for the cameras. The 2 cameras and DVR are shipped pre-paired and easy to setup. The app has intuitive menu for navigation and setting various options. The wording and grammar in the app translation used to get English is peculiar. The cameras provide good image clarity, even in darkness. Another bonus is the cameras can be password protected with individual credentials. One of the first things you need to do is to set/sync time or recording will not overwrite properly. The system does not have auto-adjust for DST which may cause an issue during those 2 times during the year if you have any incidents that need to be investigated. Another thing I noticed is the cameras get warmer than I think is normal for a low power device.

I really like this Revo "hd" video nvr surveillance system. Not one issue with signal strength from nvr to camera. Not even close to losing more than 1 bar signal strength from my farthest camera! Revo's got the best clarity I've seen of the few cameras and systems I've bought over past few years. Super clear video, it's like a 100' daytime distance I think?(cant remember exactly) My others aren't close to this clear from 100'! Night vision real good as well. It's the real deal for not near as much money as others charge that have the same video quality. This is the most expensive setup I've ever bought though, so i'm not that surprised about the clarity being so much better than my other, cheaper, cameras. I do like the nvr type of surveillance systems. 24 hour recording, always. There's no monthly fees! The app for the phone is really good, and free. To get up and running, you only have to get power to the cameras. Nothing else. I installed an outlet in the attic for the one I put way up on facial, just under the shingles. It's not hard at all to install these cameras. It's certainly easy to add an outlet to any existing power and it's not much money, at all. I spent about 7 bucks. But, you don't even have to if you don't want to, you can def hide/run an extension cord(s) to any existing outlets if you like. Only reason not 5 stars, only 4 stars, is because to look through video that's been recorded isn't the most effortless process. It's not the worst by no means, but wish I could look through or search through videos a little easier than how you have to do it. Btw, it's def the same with most all other brands of medium priced cameras and surveillance systems, so i'm not surprised and def isn't a deal breaker. I def recommend Revo. If you don't want to spend lot of money and still get perfectly clear video from far distance away, you'll love Revo too. I waited for few months to write my review for a more accurate, thorough and informed opinion of this Revo system.
