PROS: Does exactly what it says, goes on with incredible coverage. Two light coats of dark red over a bright teal, and that was all I needed. Dries quick, smooth, clean. So far good durability too. CONS: Oh my god, each can of this needs to come with its own passport, because the overspray on this TRAVELS!!! I’ve done a lot of spray painting in my life, and never seen anything like this. I was painting relatively small pieces, so close distance and short bursts, in a makeshift paint-booth in my garage (dropcloths and cardboard on the floor, drop cloth walls on four sides), and STILL everything was covered in red mist. My car which was over 30’ away has a dusting of paint on it! It’s good quality paint, but the cleanup is a NIGHTMARE!!!

Thanks for reaching out regarding your experience with the Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Protective Enamel product. We are really glad to hear that you have pros of the product! We hate to hear that you had such an excessive amount of overspray. For this reason, we always suggest making sure that surrounding areas are covered properly and that if you can bring the can in a little closer, this should help also. Sometimes when you're in a closed area, the paint doesn't have any way to evaporate and it may stay close to you. This is why we suggest open ventilation to ensure best results. We appreciate the feedback! - Rust-Oleum Product Support 1 Rustoleum

Ordered 2 cases (12 cans) for home delivery on Tuesday May 28th, 2019; received order Thursday May 30th. The product is as described and arrived in perfect condition. So far, I have used about 4 cans to apply a 1st coat to a small car. The car had previously been primered with Rust-Oleum's Professional gray primer (7582) over the original finish (sanded w/ 220 grit). I sanded the primer and then washed the car before painting with Gloss Lagoon enamel. The spray went on to form a nice, smooth coat with opaque color and a gloss finish. At this point, I intend to resand and apply a 2nd coat of Gloss Lagoon enamel, followed by a clear, gloss top coat. The spray pattern is good, however for critical work, I would recommend not trying to empty the can. As the pressure drops in the spray can, the spray volume is somewhat reduced, leading to incomplete coverage. Having to "fill-in" with repeated passes can lead to sagging on vertical surfaces. This is pretty typical of spray cans and I don't think it's a problem unique to this product. I love the color and have received positive comments from several neighbors. I think the value is good, and I would recommend this product. The service and delivery of my order was excellent, IMO.

I bought a couple of cans of the satin gray spray paint and applied it to my Central Air cage grill which was rusting through after many years. Also applied it to some Con Ed gas pipe in front of the house which was rusting. This was around end of August 2018. I noticed recently in April 2019 after about 6 months that Rust-Oleum formula did not arrest the rusting as rust started breaking through the paint and showing up again. See pics attached. I expected it to work and last longer than that! Although the price is cheap, I guess you get what you pay for. I have to re-do the paint job now.

That is not what we like to hear! Our Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Protective Enamels may be applied directly to properly prepared metal. For the best rust protection and prevention over already rusted metal, we recommend priming the surface first using our Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Rusty Metal Primer: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Stops-Rust-12-oz-Flat-Rusty-Metal-Primer-Spray-7769830/202056392 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2 Rustoleum

Wasted a lot of time when it all crackled under second coat. Painted the first coat and waited for 72 hours, more than 42 hours suggested by the instructions. Started to spray the second coat very lightly and the painted surface immediately started to crackle. See the picture attached. I won't finish the project on time and will never use Rust-Oleum for valuable projects.

Let's talk through this, Dmitry. Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Protective Enamel Spray should be recoated within 1 hour of the previous coat or after 48 hours has passed. Wrinkling can also occur if you sand right before you recoat as this will reactivate the paint by opening the pores. To fix this, try sanding the surface, wait 24 hours, and apply again. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5 Rustoleum

Quality paint as far as aerosol cans are concerned. Lays nicely, with no runs, especially over Rustoleum Primer. Particularly liked the color of Satin Indigo blue . The pics show before, after media blast / premiered/ painted.

12 OZ. RUSTOLEUM SATIN WHITE SPRAY PAINT MODERN FARMHOUSE If you're looking for a paint that covers well, this is the paint you need. This is a primer and paint, which makes your job so much easier. It has a hint of satin that adds so much more to the finished product. It can be used on wood, metal, plastic and pretty much any surface that can be painted. It dries very quickly, 20 minutes. This is a great way to touch up some of those faded chairs, furniture or those cute signs we all love to have around. With this you can have the “Sleek or Shabby” look. Rustoleum is a well-known name that's been around for years. This is a lovely “white satin” finish paint, and it looks awesome. Rustoleum Satin White Modern Farmhouse Spray Paint is an oil-based acrylic formula that offers superior adhesion, and easy clean up with mineral spirits. Also, this paint will spray from any angle no matter which way it's turned, and you will come out with very consistent coverage. I highly recommend this Rustoleum Satin White Spray Paint by Modern Farmhouse. If you'd like to read more about this paint the OMSID # is 305758780. Rustoleum is a great, well-known brand that you can trust.

I am a huge fan of Rust-Oleum products! My favorite use is to spray paint the metal frames on my patio furniture. I do this every spring, and it looks brand-new for the summer season. I also like it for fun projects in the garden. I recently used this pretty bronze color to paint some pebbles & create a pretty succulent ring

The color was perfect once we did two layers, a deep, rich grey. There is not much paint per can though so we had to buy a lot of them to finish our porch project. The photo below was the first coat of paint. How about more paint per can?

Oh no, that doesn't sound right! Uneven gloss levels or streaking can be attributed to a couple of things such as not shaking the can vigorously enough or holding the can too close to the surface while spraying. Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Satin Spray should be held 10 to 16 inches from the surface. Spray in a steady back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Be sure to keep the can the same distance from the surface and keep the can in motion while spraying. Apply 2 or more light coats a few minutes apart to avoid drips and runs. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5 Rustoleum

Paint with confidence. I repurpose and refinish some furniture depending on what i find.I found this brass and glass end-table that almost looks like the legs could be pipe pieces together. Somewhat an industrial look so i wanted to repurpose it for my man cave theme. After i roughed up the finish i applied this Coastal Gray satin finish on and absolutely love it. once i added the New wood top and added a small cabinet with a drawer under it, the end-table came out prefect. Great addition to my man cave and as always a great finish from Rust-Oleum

The Rustoleum protective enamel is usually the aerosol spray paint that I reach for when I have a painting project to do but id never used it on stone before now. I have used this paint (another colour) on pvc pipe, wood and even cardboard to make a sign. Id been wondering how to smarten up the outside of my home over the cooler months and decided to use a can of Rustoleum gloss protective enamel spray, rich jade color -Its a new shade but i did not want a color that is unnatural looking outside. I took apart my concrete bricks & sprayed them starting at the top and slowly working my way down. The paint did not run or skip an area, i kept spraying from left to right in even strokes and it covered the concrete no problem. I had used a vinyl glove cos i thought maybe my finger would be turned green from my pressing down on the nozzle but to my surprise my hand remained paint free! Every time i stopped spraying i checked to see if i would have to reapply but the coverage was solid. This spray dried within an hour on the concrete bricks so my project got finished even quicker. The jade colour looks pretty nice, not a weird green or anything but it clearly stands out in a nice way. I have had strangers & delivery people compliment me on how cheerful it looks. I would recommend this spray paint for stone as well as for metal projects.

I got this 12 oz. Protective Enamel Rich Jade Gloss Spray Paint by Rust-Oleum and so far I very pleased with it. The color of the paint and the lid on the can are very true. This spray paint go's on very easy and covers extremely well. You can apply a second coat or more within a few minutes of each other. It dry's to the touch in 2-3 hours and fully cures in 24 hours. Even though this has a gloss finish it can be top-coated to ensure the shine stays and protects it. In the attached pictures the test scrap of wood is a un-sanded piece of blued pine. If I had sanded it before applying the paint the coverage would have been much better, although it doesn't look that bad as is.

Nice rich color. Love the spread on the cap.i should have bought more on that day and will go back. Im using it to coat my metal boxes for some electrical work on a house that sits right on the beach. The old existing boxes and steel conduit are mostly corroded so all my new boxes, conduit are getting a quick coat to keep them preserved longer. The old eisting metal that is okay to keep also gets a coat to maintain what is there.. good stuff, and doesn't run/drip ....

This is a great new color on a product that set the standard for covering up rust. This is an oil based product. The only type of paint I use. Water based paints just do not cut it. They almost never stand as well. Fade much quicker. And the color is never as bright as the same color in oil. Rustoleum lasts and prevents the rust from coming through the paint for a long time. With proper prep even longer. Do not settle for a cheaper brand. I will get this everytime

Grown up with Rust-oleum. Always used on my cars which all had rust. Now fast forward 45 years and there is a whole array of paints. This color is new, and perfect color for the job. It stops and prevents rust, and I never use under-coatings for this. The button you push to spray the paint is more ergonomic than the olden time spray can. It sprays evenly and does not get all over your fingers. I use gloves anyway. It has a child preventative cap, and you must prove you are over eighteen before you purchase it in some states. It covered evenly and did not drip. Make sure you read directions and precautions.

Living up to its reputation, the Rust-Oleum Stops Rust 12 oz. Protective Enamel Cambridge Stone Gloss Spray Paint was simple to use and provided great results. I have concrete blocks that I use as part of my landscape edging and wanted to paint them to eliminate the unfinished gray. Two light coats went on easily and I am pleased with the appearance. I was concerned the concrete would be too porous and absorb the paint too much but that wasn't the case. The enamel stays on the surface better than water based. The paint sprayed fine from any angle and the color matched the cap exactly. As with all Rust-Oleum spray paints I am completely satisfied.

This is by far the best spray paint to use and it only took a couple of minutes to spray them. It goes on very evenly without having to worry about dripping or uneven painting. I like the satin finish and the even application. This paint is of high quality and very easy to apply. I have always used this brand when ever I have to repaint anything outdoors as it also dries very quickly.
