white goes yellow QUICK!
Kit was great, we followed the instructions to the T, making sure to clean the cabinet doors and carcasses extra carefully. As from the photos, you can see the carcasses have already gone yellow. The doors we did a few weeks later but with the same kit, and they are still white. No doubt in mind they will start to yellow as well. Our cabinets get no direct sunlight etc. Normally I would recommend rust-oleum products but this is a big NO

    Good Stuff
With drying time, it took my wife and I an entire weekend to do two cabinets, but these formerly tired, oak cabinets look great! The instructions said two coats of bonding paint, but it took 3-4 to fully cover the oak underneath. This kit is perfect for a couple bathrooms or a small kitchen.

      Shipping was horrible
I have bought this kit in store in the past and the product is great. However this time I ordered it and it came all dented. Almost every can is damaged. I don’t recommend having it shipped. Just buy it in store.

This kit was great for DIY cabinets. You really have to follow the prep instructions to get the best results imo. Have had the cabinets repainted for over a year now

I have bought these kits before, they are awesome and easy to use! In our previous home we did our kitchen cabinets, bedroom furniture and vanities. Loved it so much that our home we moved into we are again going to do our kitchen cabinets! Highly recommend doing it yourself, it’s easy and no sanding, no mess! Anyone can do it! Already did our master vanity!the Gray is new color!

Wonderful Alternative to Purchasing New Vanity
I bought this kit to redo a small vanity in the guest bathroom. The vanity was a praline oak builders grade cabinet and was very outdated. I’m not very handy at all but I must say this kit was amazing. I followed the directions to a T. Clean well and degloss before doing anything else. Next comes two coats of paint, which covered mine nicely. Next came the stain. I was going to leave the vanity gray but the countertop has a yellow tint so I was afraid it wouldn’t look right. The stain is tricky getting the amount taken off with the cheesecloth provided. I left mine a little heavier than some may like. Then the protective top coat. You must get it on evenly and make sure it doesn’t pool in the corners as it will turn yellow. All-in-all, I’m very happy with the results. I highly recommend!

            It will turn yellow
I did my homework on using this product. I watched the youtube videos many times, read the provided instructions, & read multiple product reviews. I ollowed the instructions/recmmendations used top quatly brushes & was extremely patience during the entire process. I did read a few reviews that said over time the poly will make the cabinets look yellow, though it was only 1 or 2 reviews it happened to me. 3 weeks later. DO NOT BUY DO NOT USE! It Now i have to hire a pro to come fix this $$

That is odd to hear, Mike! Our Rust-Oleum Cabinet Transformations Kit includes a water-based satin polyurethane that is designed to cure to a crystal clear finish. Yellowing may occur if applying the kit is applied directly over bare wood without priming due to tannin, or if the polyurethane is exposed to UV. The top coat may also yellow if applied too heavily over the base coat. Please give us a call at 800-901-0411, we want to make things right! - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2 Rustoleum
              Worth the Time
I used the rust oleum kit in my bathroom and behrs semigloss paint in my kitchen. The rust oleum turned out so much better, I kick myself for not using it in the kitchen. From the reviews it seems the white color is giving customers the most problems. I used a dark gray. Even if you use white you have to go to the paint counter for them to add tint to the base coat. I needed about 3 coats but had very smooth coverage and didn't show brush strokes as semigloss did. 3+ years, still looking great!

                Get TWO sets
While this is a decent paint, it does NOT cover 100sq ft with one or two coats. I mean it could but the coverage would suck. FIVE COATS is what I had to use to actually make it look GOOD. That said, I would use it again but I would read reviews first so I buy enough the FIRST time. A little disappointed in Rustoleum but overall their paint is good.

Good products--generous amount in this 1-qt kit
This kit was easy to use and came with all the things needed. I used the product to paint a very dated small bathroom vanity from its original wood finish to white. The vanity is small and only had two sides exposed, since it is built into a corner. The kit contained two cans of base coat, and I only used about half of one can, even with painting the interior of the cabinet and doors. I used only a small fraction of the deglosser solution. The finished project was quite nice.

                  Terrible results
Followed the directions exactly. Did 2 coats of bond coat and it didn't cover the cabinet. Did 3 coats to get it covered and the paint turned yellow. When using the top coat, it turned it extremely yellow. Very disappointed!

That doesn't sound right! From your description, it sounds like you could be getting some tannin bleed through from the previous finish. If the original finish was very worn or faded, or if there was any bare wood exposed it could potentially cause some bleed through. The use of a stain blocking primer is highly suggested to prevent this from happening in the future. To correct the surface we suggest applying Rust-Oleum Zinsser CoverStain Primer right over the paint to seal and prevent bleed through. Allow the primer to dry for 1 hour and then you may recoat the surface with the Bond Coat. We want to hear more about your experience and try to make things right with you. Please feel free to call us at 800-901-0411 to talk about this more and make sure to have the product handy!

The product is not good for easy painting
After using the deglosser and painting two coats, the final result looks bad and not easy for people who doesn't a lot of experience painting cabinets.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience, Michael! To ensure the best finish, we recommend using 2" synthetic paint brushes. We recommend using premium quality brushes, but angled or straight can be used. The Bond Coat will leave some brush marks to allow the Decorative Glaze to properly rest on the surface.

                      Transformed my kitchen
I had brown cabinets that made my kitchen look dated. This kit was enough to cover my entire kitchen. Great results. Instead of included top cost I used Minwax Polycrylic protective finish. Dries beautifully. I found it helpful to apply decorative glaze with wet foam brush as I was going for a lighter finish. Glaze is dark and dries quick. If you apply with wet brush it dilutes it and is easier to smear.

                        Game Changer!!
I am selling my home and wanted to give my kitchen a face-lift while saving money! This was suggested by my cousin and I'm so happy I made the purchase. I bought 2, one white and the other gray. I also bought some peel and stick tiles for the backslash. My kitchen looks brand new. easy to use took 2 days!! I was told it would cost me 2000 from a professional, but this cost me 200! It was enough paint, I even have some left for the next owners if they need to do a touch up. Good luck on your project!

                          Terrible
Just a horrific product. Turning brown cabinets white took 5 coats, then a coat of the topcoat (polyurethane). After 3 months the polyurethane turned yellow. Spent 120 hours painting cabinets that turned yellow. I should send Rustoleum a bill. I’m going to have to repaint.

We need to know more to get to the bottom of this. Rust-Oleum Cabinet Transformations Kit uses a system of an adhesive bond coat, decorative glaze (optional), and a protective clear top coat to create a highly durable finish. Two coats of the Bond Coat typically provides excellent adhesion and hide. Give us a call at 800-901-0411 so we can hear more about your application and try to make things right.

I think I did a pretty good job. It took me about a week to finish because I used a wood grain filler because I wanted a manufactured look. Also, I didn’t use the stain.

This product is amazing! We were able to repurpose some very old cabinets in our office. We loved that everything was included in the kit, the very detailed instructions, and the end result. This product also cleans up with just soap and water.

Hugely time consuming - zero customer support
Deglossing takes as much time as sanding. The bond coat took five coats for full coverage. This looked really good actually. Then the protective coat looked awful no matter what we did. I reached out to Rustoleum with no response. Painted over everything.

I am on my 4th coat and oak is still showing through and I'm almost out of paint which only covered 12 cabinet doors only! It's ridiculous. For the price I can buy Behr paint and have 1, max two coats for half the cost and half the time.

Started with a simple redo of a bathroom cabinet, but with the excellent results this quickly turned into both bathrooms and kitchen cabinets redo. It was easy to use, the results are amazing. Everyone that comes by ask if we replace the cabinets, we reply same cabinets just new counter tops. They cannot believe is a paint job.

Looks great, until it doesn’t. Give it time
I purchased this kit possibly 7yrs ago. I had someone else prepare and do the project, since I had no idea what to do. It looked great for about 3years, then all the paint started to wear off leaving the cabinet color exposed. Through the years it’s increasingly got worse. I recently contacted the company seeing if they had a touch up kit, since I don’t need to redo every cabinet. They don’t but offered me a free kit with proof of purchase….From 7yrs ago. Not a coupon or discount code for the product. Who holds onto receipts for that long?! Needless to say i will not be repurchasing a kit. It’s a lot of work and it doesn’t last. You can see the knob color is wearing too. That was their spray paint.

Awesome! No chips or scratches. No peeling. I think the reason for that is because I sanded them for a better stick and added miniwax polycrylic over the protective coat in the kit. They are in great condition. Minor down fall is that the polycrylic is high gloss and dust and dirt show up easily. When dirty, it'll look like the cabinets are chipped. Wipe the dirt off and you'll see NO chips.

                                        Couldn’t be happier!!
I loved this product! This was my first big diy did by myself and that cabinet transformation kit made it seem very achievable. I love that they give you everything you need (except brushes) right in the box. They really give a good detailed description of what you need to do so I felt pretty good going into each step. Parts of the process can feel lengthy at times but if you keep with it (and take breaks when you need them) it turns out wonderful. I think the coverage of the paint is great (although the white took more coats than the darker colors) and really goes a long way. I still have left over of each product that I’ve used in other places in my home. My only tip would be to find a place to do the doors where you can stand. I painted and cleaned the doors on the floor and after awhile it started to hurt my back which made me have to take more breaks and days off than I originally intended. But I got through it and absolutely love my kitchen!!!

                                          Light glaze with Linen color...WOW
Hated my orangy yellow oak cabinets with laminate sidings and looking for solutions that didn't include costly new cabinets. 1st tried gel staining on sample wood, but would be too dark for my decor. Then I stumbled upon this product and watched Rust-Oleum how to video on YouTube that even taught different glazing techniques. So decided to give it a try. I knew I wanted to go lighter to play off the cream base color of my granite and lighter brown hardwood look tile floors. But I like the texture look of wood but never liked white cabinets because it's been done too much. The glaze is a way to give that textured unique look, that makes me stare at my cabinets every time I enter my kitchen instead of trying to ignore them. It does take some time and patience, in my case it took several weeks because I only worked on my large kitchen one day a week and in phases. 1st upper cabinets until completion, then bottom cabinets and lastly the island.
