This 6 in. Pocket Combination Square (Stainless Steel Blade) by Swanson is very nice combination square. I do woodworking and many times I find myself in need of a small square for those small or tight places. And this great little square is exactly what I need for those times. The ruler is made of stainless steel so there are no worries about it rusting. The rule is etched in black at 1/8", 1/16" and 1/32". The ruler was made on a CNC machine which makes it very accurate. The level bubble is very easy to see. The 45* and 90* angles are spot on. This square can be used for different uses such as a square, depth-guage, scriber and level. I am very happy with this much used tool.

Great pocket size combination square. This is so small and compact I can fit it in my pocket when I climb the ladder to make my layout marks. Also when in really tight spaces this works great because it fits in small places. What I like to do with the combination squares is to set the depth using the tool, much more accurate depth of lay out marks then using the measurements. Also nice on this the stainless steel and clear markings. I've had other ones made of steel and within the year they are rusty.

Great size for your pocket on an apron or tool belt. It has a hefty feel and high quality build that says it will be around for a long time. For the over-50 age group, it has LARGE legible markings on the ruler that make it easy to read, even in low light. The level is beefy, too, so it is also easy to see. Even though it's pint-sized, this square still have regular size knurled knobs for the ruler lock and the built-in scratch awl. For under $10, it's a steal.

Great little pocket square for a variety of uses around house and home. It’s made of stainless steel and hardened brass with a hidden twist scribe and also has a level. Numbers and measurements are etched on for longer durability and the twist brass knob for moving the ruler stays in place. It the perfect size for keeping in your toolbox, drawer or hung on a peg board for easy access. Ruler comes out easy to use separately if needed and the unit has a good feel and weight to it. Already used it several times for a few misc. projects and it came in handy.

This Swanson 6 in. Pocket Combination Square is a perfect addition to anybody's tool box or tool bag. I have the 12" version of this tool which is quite cumbersome when trying to measure out 2"x4" material. This 6" version is much more handy for for measuring out 1"x4" or 2"x4" materials and fits much easier in my tool bags. SInce this handy little tool is made out of stainless steel I won't have to worry about it rusting out on me. I love the fact that one side of the tool has the inches divided into 1/8" markings and 1/16" between the 1" marks. The other side has the 1" markings divided by 1/32" markings along with the bottom half utilizing centimeter and millimeter markings. This makes it much easier to quickly take measurements or to mark things out for cutting. This little tool can be used as a miter square, try square, depth gauge and more... The little knurled knob you use to loosen or tighten down the clamp works perfectly and really locks everything down tight so you don't have to worry about it getting out of square or coming loose when you are trying to scribe something. The built in bubble used for leveling appears to be made out of heavy duty acrylic plastic and looks like it will handle abuse quite well. All in all I'm loving my new little combination square and it is a great addition to my tool bags when I'm on site at a job or at home in my tool box. Swanson has made a great little square here and I hope to get years and years of use out of it.

This is an awesome square. I build cabinetry, furniture and frames. My tools matter. This six inch combination square is exceptionally well made. Solid cast frame with fine machining, a stainless steel ruler and a brass scribe in the handle. The knurled brass clamp nut is easy to manipulate and holds the ruler position with a 90 degree angle. The 45 degree angle is great for marking corner joints. A great add to any craftsman's tool set.

USEFUL TOOL; GOES PLACES where LARGER SQUARE WILL NOT — The Swanson 6 in. Pocket Combination Square (Stainless Steel Blade) is a handy tool to have for situations where a larger tool will not fit. It has all of the features of a full size combination square: stainless steel blade, scribe, level, 1/32 inch and mm gradations. I checked it for being square and it was spot-on. It was helpful during a bathroom remodeling project. With it I was able to check whether a corner of the wall near the bathtub and door frame was square; it was not. It seems to be a quality tool. What surprised me is that it has only a 1-year limited liability warranty whereas my full size combination square has a lifetime warranty. It is made in China.

I have a 12 inch combo square, and an 18 inch combo square, so now with this Swanson 6 inch pocket combination square, the set is complete. Put it in my apron pocket and it couldn't be handier. Bubble level, and complete with sharp metal scribe, I won't need to worry about looking for a pencil to make my saw mark. I do a lot of picture frames and this is perfect for squaring up the corners before gluing. This piece is great.

This review is for the Swanson model TC130 combination square. The TC130 comes with a 1-year warranty from Swanson and a 90-day return warranty from Home Depot. The stainless-steel straight edge piece of the square is 6” long and measured in increments of centimeters, 1/32 of an inch, 1/8 of an inch, and 1/16 of an inch. It’s secured by a brass knurled knob. There’s a steel scribe that fits into the housing of the square, also using a brass knurled knob to secure it. The scribe is threaded into the housing, so there’s no worry of it slipping out and being lost. An acrylic bubble level is incorporated into the housing; the level is not removable, but the securing fitting is brass. Overall this is a well built square, with fit and finish good (mine has a couple of paint flecks missing from the housing and the black paint has uneven edges at the corners. Of course this is cosmetic, not affecting the functionality of the tool. The machining of the tool is very good. Movement of the straight edge in the square’s slide groove is smooth and solid. The increments on the straight edge are easily read. I’m finding that this little square is just the right size for carrying in a small belt pouch (I’m using the Milwaukee model 48-22-8118. See photo below – I removed everything but the Swanson square to show the fit). Great for a quick check of level or for scribing a straight line in wood, and it’s small enough that it doesn’t get in the way. Overall I’m quite pleased with this little gadget and expect it to get quite a bit of use in the garage and shed. HTH Regards, Jim

Seems to lock perfectly square every time when compared to my machinist square. easy to read markings, feels really solid. Didn't have to do any tuning to get it square. The little scribe in the back is a nice touch for when you leave your pencil or marking knife out of reach and don't want to let go of the work piece to go get them. Huge value compared to starret/woodpeckers or any of those other ridiculously priced things.

The Swanson sliding combo squares are very accurate and the finish is nice. I did do a bit of tuning of the edges with a stone to remove the very sharp machined edges. A bit of grease on the threads of the tightening bolt made it easier to operate and takes less effort to hold firm. For a bit of making them mine I am very pleased with the quality and price!

Bought two and one was out of square
I bought two of these. One was square and the other was WAY out of square. Not useable even for carpentry. So if you do get this item, be sure to check that it's square before using it.
