    Answer This Question

A:  This Everbilt 3/8 in. x 1/4 in. OD Compression Brass Reducing Coupling Fitting is compatible with propane systems. We recommend consulting with a local listed plumber to verify it will comply with code.

    by|Jun 23, 2022

A:  Yes. Be sure to leak check with a soap and water solution after turning the propane on.

Q:Can you help me connect 3/4 copper tubing to a female 1/2 npt that can screw in and out at the fitting? Need to connect 50' copper tube to stock tank in two spots for a DIY hot tub.

        Answer This Question

A:  We do not have brass fittings that will attach directly to ¾” copper tubing only to ¾” NPT threaded pipes. A store associate would be able to assist in in the proper fittings and we would advise you consult with a local licensed plumber to verify all connections are compliant with local codes.

Q:There is a slow leak (drippings) after I installed this for the ice maker supple line and brass pipe. The washer looks like a think sealer rather than a thick rubber washer. I tighten it and it still leaks. Will the sealing plumber tape help?

          Answer This Question

A:  For the Everbilt 1/4 in. OD Compression x 3/8 in. Flare Brass Adapter Fitting, the leak can be from one of 2 places. One side of this fitting is flare and that is not typical used for ice maker supply lines. if you try to attach a flare fitting to a non-flare fitting it will leak. The second issue could be due to the compression side of the fitting. With compression fittings it is possible to overtighten them and warp the compression ferrule in the fitting that will cause it to leak. For compression you want to hand tighten then tighten an additional ¼ turn with a wrench. Then slowly turn the water supply back on to check for leaks and then slowly tighten until it stops leaking. If you have over tightened the fitting the compression ferrule is no longer good and you would need to use a new one. Another option would be to use a push to connect fitting. A Home Depot plumbing associate can help assist in finding the best fitting for your particular application.

I used it with a valve that has a 3/8" compression outlet. This compression adapter would not seal. It comes with a nylon or plastic sealing washer which is inappropriate for a compression-type seal. This adapter should have the same type of rubber sealing assembly which sink hoses use. If this item does not have another use, it ought to be pulled from the shelves.

Metal connector Replaces a leaky plastic one 6 years old on my water filter system. The metal compression 3/8" end of this connector with ring insert, grips the plastic tubing well with an additional layer of teflon tape.
