RUST! Even when covered and protected in sunny CA. Not a happy camper
Had my Traeger Ironwood in a BBQ shelter and even covered with the eighty dollar Traeger cover. We loved and babied this thing. They are expensive. Less than a year old and it has started to rust. Never had a grease fire or overheated. We used this primarily for the long low and slow cooks. Now instead of being proudly displayed, it mostly stays covered. The blemishes hidden under the cover because every time I see them it upsets me. Such a shame. No help from Traeger either. They claimed some rust is expected over time and wouldn't cover it. Will never buy another anything from them. There are just too many other great options out there.

Would not recommend buying a Traeger
I bought an Ironwood 885 from Home Depot. Less than 20 cooks later, I turned the temp to 400 and some grease either on the grates or the bottom drip rail before it exits to the bucket caught on fire. A ~20 second fire melted the paint on the barrel of the grill. Spoke with 3 different customer service reps and each one said it was my fault and nothing they would do about it. Fortunately I was able to return to Home Depot. I would not recommend buying a Traeger grill.

Chose this over the timberline 1300, I like some of the features the 885 has that the 1300 does not. I purchased the front table which is much larger than the 1300. The traeger app and and the meat probe make smoking anything extremely easy I'm happy with my purchase.

Love the grill but No smoke.
I love this grill, from the book it came in to the way it cooks I love it. My only problem is no smoke. I don't get smoke flavor even on super smoke. But it's a convenient grill and I love the wifi capabilities.

This Traeger is amazing! I have made some of the most delicious food on it. The smell when the food is cooking is amazing. There are so many ways to cook on here and such a big area you can cook multiple things. The wifire is an awesome addition, being able to control everything from my phone and not have to worry is a big plus. I can't wait to keep trying more recipes on here. Definitely recommend!

Incredible!
Incredible. Been using almost daily since got it and love it. Smoked salmon and pork butt on it and both turned out amazing. Chicken wings we're the best I’ve ever had. Love this grill. If you’re on the fence about this grill you should get it. It's amazing!

Not really a grill
I purchased the Traeger 885 grill on January 14th I have tried about 30 of their recipes off of the website and I find that this Grill is not really a grill it is more of a smoker but not a great smoker at that. When used as a smoker, smoked flavor is weak. Ehen used as a grill there is no grilled flavor and the meat tastes more like it was cooked in a hot oven. I have yet to have a meal come out that I was really excited about afterwards and I love grilling Outdoors. I wish I wouldn't have spent the extra money and just purchased a nice barbecue grill.

BEST GRILL EVER!!
This grill is a life changer. I never got a good tender brisket off my big green egg. 5 or 6 times I tried and ended up with an expensive piece of jerky. The Traeger has stood up to every challenge including brisket. My bbq's have never been better or easier.

Amazing purchase for my Husband
This is the best gift I’ve ever bought myself and I bought it for my Husband. He was absolutely thrilled to see his new Traeger sitting in the garage when he got home and has cooked a variety of things on it- even smoked veggies which were phenomenal. He lives the ease of the unit and the features in the app allows him to stay connected to his machine and his family while he’s smoking food all day. Definitely a win for all of us and the smile it still brings to his face is amazing! “Happy Spouse, Happy house!” Thanks Traeger!!!

One and done
From bacon, eggs, chicken, tri tip, roasts, fish and bread there is nothing that I haven’t cooked on this grill. This is my favorite kitchen appliance ever.

Cooks great but the wifire is a disappointment.
This is a wonderful grill. The only reason why I only gave 3 stars is because the Wifire doesn’t work (it is unable to connect to wifi) It’s all over reddit. That’s half the reason why I bought it.

You get what you pay for.. expect fan replacement
You get what you pay for. A medium brand unit that saves a ton of time. BUT.. Given the electronics, especially the vital importance of the fan, the units lifespan is uncertain. Expect component replacement cost and installation time in the near term - 3 years or less regardless of the "limited warranty.

I absolutely LOVE this thing! Easy to assemble and easy to use! The app and Wi-Fire technology make every meal a masterpiece!!! My only regrets are not getting it sooner and not getting the Ironwood 885 (I could use the extra grill space) Go big!

Ironwood 650 grilling game changer
Best grill I’ve ever had. I’ve put 4 bags of pellets through it in only a couple weeks. From long cooks with Brisket and pork, to quick grilling for burgers and brats it’s been great. The WiFire app is a game changer as well, and has also made the transition to Traeger one I don’t see myself deviating from for a long time.

If I could give it 10 stars I would.
This is one versatile cooker. I’ve done brisket, ribs, chicken, steaks, pork shoulders/butts with fantastic results. I own a wood smoker, drum smoker, charcoal grill, and gas grill and this grill outperforms them all. Easiest grill to operate. Love the WiFi connectivity. Well worth every penny. My only regret is I didn’t buy the bigger one.

Hi, and thanks for reviewing the Ironwood 885. Connecting a WiFIRE grill to the Traeger app typically takes minutes to do, but process can sometimes need adjusting depending on the network used. While things like VPNs and firewalls are common obstacles, they can usually be overcome fairly easily, as well as can most other issues that may be encountered. Otherwise, providing that your home WiFi setup has a 2.4 GHz signal, which is needed for its substantially longer range than the 5.0 GHz frequency, the grill should pair with the app unless there are some other unusual circumstances. But in cases like this, you can save time and avoid aggravation by reaching out to Traeger Customer Service. Not only do our agents know how to quickly resolve connection issues, but they also have some very useful tools for locating the source of most problems. And while you’re on the line, the agent can even send you a new meat probe at the same time, so that everything is taken care of on one call.
