These skylights transformed the room. I can't imagine why anyone would install those opaque plastic bubbles when these are available. We had a contractor install and I don't think he had any problems except the instructions for the blinds were useless -- a few pictures -- had to scour the internet for videos. The blinds were not difficult to install once it was clear how to do so. These things close as soon as it starts raining and the remote control is very easy to use and basically auto-configures itself. There are lots of features with the control that we haven't explored.

Very well constructed sky light. Solid construction. Nothing is flimsy or cheap - all is high quality materials and fabrication. The product comes in a very durable cardboard box and the interior packaging is top quality which protects the skylight during shipment and loading it up on the roof for installation. Once installed it works flawlessly! The ease of the solar powered wireless remote control operation is amazing. It took no time syncing the remote to the unit. I must say the read out on the remote screen is state of the art. It looks expensive and quality when it mounts on the wall. The magnet securing the actual remote to the wall mounted cradle is clever. Best of all just today July 16, 2015 I did a walk through with the home owners (my clients) and both the husband and wife can not say enough of how pleased they are with the product or installation. As a contractor doing residential remodels for close to 40 years I absolutely would recommend this product. Only con is that I would suggest not to try this yourself. This is not a DIY project as there is too much involved with getting the opening and framing correct.

I'm glad we got the shade for our skylight, it does diffuse the light and help to keep out added heat from the hot sun. It was not very easy to install, it could use better instructions. And it's pretty expensive for what it is.

It's a great looking skylight and works good too. It is a little loud opening and shutting but that's not too bad. The control panel is cool and looks nice on the wall. The item does not come with flashing which is necessary to install it. Not being aware of this we had to place a separate order and wait to have the installation completed which was a bit of a pain.

I got this skylight size but for a flat roof. I also got the programmable remote shade and am so glad I did. This thing works great and you can program hundreds of settings. I have it programmed every hour during the day so it closes little by little to keep the sun off of furniture but still gives you light and fully closed for an hour or two then back open. If you don't like the program or its a cloudy day just hit the remote to open it all the way. The service reps with VELUX are great. I could get through to them every time on the phone anytime I had a question with programming and very helpful. After about 11/2 years I was having a problem with the blind motor and talked to the rep on the phone and they sent me a brand new blind unit. I had my contractor install the first one and didn't want to mess it up so I was willing to pay Velux to install for me. I called them back and said I want a Velux trained guy to install it and the rep came out and installed for free since it was still in the warranty period. The Velux Rep also told me that who ever did the flashing did not do it correctly and should get it fix and showed my why. The only thing was weird with there service call is that you have to give them your CC number and precharge $150 and that worried me a little since they said they would do it for free, but they did not charge me.

After much deliberation, on fixed or vented I am so glad I went wit the solar powered version. This makes my fifth skylight install, but my first that was done the correct way. I purchased the flashing kit, and Velux will back your installation for 10 years. Instructions were good, but youtube was very helpful.

We had two installed by our roofer. He said that these were the first Velux skylights that he's installed, and that the quality and flashing kits were much improved over the ones he'd done in the past. He has over 25 years experience as a roofer and has installed all types of skylights...he said that these were top-notch and he was pleased with the multi-layered leak protection. From the outside, the skylights have a low profile and they look clean and modern. I have an homeowner's association and they would not have allowed me to use the big white bubble type skylights; these look nicer and they blend in nicely. It rained the day after installation, and several times since then. No leaks and the water just rolls right off. From the inside, I love all the natural light. The light is not hot and there are no ultra-bright spots in the room. I love standing in my kitchen, looking up and watching the clouds roll by. One night, I got up and noticed a bright light in my kitchen. It was the full moon glowing through the skylight. I plan to buy and install the solar shades before summer comes. I love that the Velux skylights have the clips pre-installed, so that all I'll have to do is snap them in. I wanted skylights over my kitchen for more than 10 years. My only regret is that I waited so long. These are gorgeous.

Replaced 6 venting skylights, all had blown seals, with 6 Fixed skylights. They are beautiful and a study in simplicity.

The new design is an improvement over the previous version. Highly recommend Velux products.

They are beautiful and clear! We have 5 of them! It did not take long for the installation.

Nice clean look, they work and cut sunlight off furniture that could be damaged by the sun.

Installed 2 fixed units. Then wanted to install Velux automatic shades under their design professionally discount and they would not honor the offer.

Love the skylight. Much quieter than the old one. Highly recommend it!

These were installed on a house we purchased. Two failed at the skylight causing dry rot damage to the house. All the flashing was installed correctly - the water was getting through the skylight itself. These are not meant to be installed in applications flatter than 14°, but that's in the fine print, so it's partly the fault of the installers. Hopefully the curb mounted version won't leak, because there aren't a lot of alternatives to velux available.

We have had Velux skylights for 24 plus years! We Original installed 7 Deck mounted skylights all throughout our house. And with the last new roofing install we changed one of the skylights to a opening skylights to help with summer ventilation in the Pacific Northwest. Our Velux skylights add beauty and light to our home.

This is my second set of velux skylights Most recently I had hail damage to roof and my insurance paid to replace The veluxe skylights held up perfectly just has some dents in frame

Easy to install. Looks great. never leaks.

Had a new roof installed so decided to replace 6 skylights at the same time which we had installed 19 years ago and never had a leak! One interior, the other 5 on a screened in porch. Much to my dismay, a middle one on the screen porch had a minor leak the 2nd time we had a rain storm! Since then we have been in a drought. The roofer returned to inspect the install, and ran a hose over the skylight to try and duplicate the leak to no avail! At this point we don't know if the skylight leaks or its a faulty install. Evidently it's one of those leaks where the rain has to come in at a certain angle, so it's now a wait game for more rain before the leak can be detected. Fortunately it's on an outside porch and not interior! I do agree with the one review that stated the new replacement skylights were a great match and no interior work needed to be done as far as repainting. I will review again after it's determined to be a faulty skylight, or install error.

We love our new skylights and solar powered shades, and tax credit is a bonus. They look great and energy efficient allowing the daylight in is refreshing. Thank you for making an awesome product.

I bought our skylights in May 2024… Very happy with the construction of the skylights.. and no leaks

Three new skylights were installed by a Velux preferred installer and generally happy with the installation and the product. The skylights arrived with adhesives or glues all over the glass and is proving to be harder to remove than just window cleaner. We're also told not to use anything like a razor blade to scrape the adhesive materials. The skylights seems to be fine - as long as you don't look at them from certain angles so that you see the streaking or the adhesives. Knocking off one star for condition and difficulty cleaning them.

I had this installed a week ago and it is working great. Previously I had leaks, not with this one! And, much bigger, clearer window for star gazing as well.

They brighten up our small house and look really stylish!
