i use the product all of the time to seal the wood on the inside of cabinets that i make. Also as a finish.

I use it for ceramics/pottery. Paint on green ware then wipe down. Wherever the shellac is, stays raised. Then the shellac burns off in the bisque firing.

hadnt used shellac in years. this goes on very nice in thin coat.

I can only rate this based on what I used it for: finishing a guitar. I do not recommend for anything that will come in contact with a body. The finish is completely maleable at body temperature, even a few minutes playing leaves imprints of my clothing.

Loved the look on my wide pine flooring. In three coats I had the color and shine I was hoping for.

Used the shellac to refinish the knotty pine walls of our family cabin. Went on very well with a 6" foam roller and a 2" brush. Dries fast with no odor. Only issue was finding enough for the job. I had to purchase from 3 stores to get enough.

This is the only premixed shellac on the market and Zinsser knows it. You need to search online to find a translation for the date code to know when it was produced. This matters because after a year, it starts to degrade. After two years it's junk. Works great if you get a fresh batch though!

Great shellac with high quality shine

It was used to replicate 20yo natural oak handrail with poly. Poly will yellow over time- there is no compatible "stain" on the market- depending one the number of coats, it can duplicate the color pretty much "on the money"!

Great finish with fast dry time. Did 3 coats sand between to get nice finish

Good tint, and it dries nice and hard. Thin enough to spray with an HVLP conversion gun. You are going to want to spray tinted shellac, or it will be hard to get an even color. Label says it shouldn't be thinned, but I have thinned it with denatured alcohol with no negative effects. Can be cleaned up with alcohol, but it seems to barely soften it. Label says to clean with ammonia, so that may work better, but I'd prefer to stick to alcohol.

Not sure if I just got a bad can sprayer but the product spit small globs onto my prepared desktop. Caused more work in having to sand the whole thing down again. Will have to buy the traditional can and paint brush- should have just gone that route from the get go. Expensive lesson. Am I able to return this used?

Thus shellac is great! What’s not so great is trying to find denatured alcohol for thinning and cleanup. Shellac without thinner is a real problem. And no, using ammonia is not a decent alternative.

I used this and was well satisfied with the coverage and the way it looks on the wood. I would buy it again.

I liked the look after it dried but I'm going for something darker

Shellac that covers like will shellac covers bit than soaked into the wood dried fast did have a nice amber tone

This is a good product. And the amber color is really pretty.

Went on smooth but it did run a little. Overall good product considering the product is water based and caused the surface area to swell and created a rougher surface that had to be sanded then recoated.
