About This Product

toggled LED tubes are designed to replace T8 and T12 fluorescent tubes. These UL Listed, FCC compliant LED products use only 12-Watt of energy and are rated for 50,000-hours with a 6-year warranty. In addition, toggled LED lights eliminate ballast systems, reduce facility lighting costs, enhance the quality of light and are mercury free. Installation requires basic re-wiring around ballast systems to non-shunted lamp holders. Non-shunted lamp holders are included with every tube to replace shunted lamp holders in lighting fixtures if necessary.

Q:If the fixture is plugged into a voice controlled outlet can the tubes still be dimmed?
by|Apr 10, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  We have not tested our lamps with any plug-in/outlet dimmers to know if our lamps would be compatible. Typically, outlet dimmers lack a ground connection which means you will need to ground your fixtures separately to ensure they may be safely operated. We have a compatible dimmer list available on our website of the dimmer switches that we recommend with our lamps. We've provided the link below for review. https://toggled.com/resources/product-support/compatible-dimmers/ We would be happy to speak to you in more detail about any installation questions you may have. Please feel free to contact us directly at 1-844-toggled or at support@toggled.com.

Q:Does this emit any EMF interference ? Do you have a battery back up for these lights ? I have some 2' with battery backup I would like to replace also. What is the brightest bulb you sell ?
    by|Apr 6, 2024
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Toggled tubes have electronics inside the tube and like most electronics, it will produce some amount of radio noise. Our tubes have been tested and complies with FCC Part 15 Class B. We do not have a battery backup for our tubes. Our LED replacements will not work with an existing battery backup ballast. You can use a micro inverter battery backup that's designed to supply our tubes with AC voltage in the event of a power outage if needed. We've included a link below to one of the inverters that we typically recommend. https://www.signify.com/en-us/brands/bodine/products/inverters/elis20 We sell our Ultra-High Output tubes in 2ft and 4ft lengths. These are the brightest tubes we offer. The 2ft tubes have 2000 lumens each. The 4ft tubes have 4000 lumens. If you need assistance selecting the best tube for your application, please let us know. We can be reached at 1-844-Toggled or at support@toggled.com.

Q:Is there a specific type of dimmer required for these bulbs?

Q:I have confirmed that my fixtures have non shunted lamp holders. They are wired on one end. Can I add wires on the other end and add more fixtures to the same circuit? How many can I put one a 120V 20 amp circuit?
        by|Dec 24, 2023
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  Since your current lampholders are already non-shunted, you can leave them in place for the conversion process. Since Toggled tubes are single-ended power only, you’re only wiring one side of the fixture. The other end of the fixture is non-powered. It’s for support purposes only. You can have multiple fixtures on the same circuit. For example, if you’re using a strip fixture, they typically have knockouts you can use to connect them together. You could use the knockouts to hardwire the fixtures together using conduit, flexible conduit, or NM wire with the appropriate strain reliefs. If we can assist with the installation process, please contact us directly at 1-844-toggled or at support@toggled.com. Each 2ft tube has 8 watts. If you’re using 120V, that’s about .066A each. With that said, you could put over 200 tubes on a 20A breaker.

            My wife loves it!
I had to bypass the ballast, but once I got them installed, it was working very well. My wife appreciates the brighter light in the kitchen.

Easy after the first time. Read for photo context.
I retrofitted my kitchen with 4500k bulbs in a single morning, never having done this before. I decided to get 6500k for the garage and finished hours before sunset. I'll leave photos for comparison. I won't blame the manufacture for me thinking 6500k means "more bright" than 4500k, but I realized it just has to do with color. I wish I got 4500k for the garage. 6500k is way too cold for comfort.

              Easy after the first fixture
Replaced 2 fixtures in the kitchen and one in the hallway. After removing the wire cover and figuring out what the heck I was looking at, everything became clear and easy. The 4-lamp fixture had 2 balasts wired in series. The instructions were to remove the balasts entirely because the bulbs themselves have regulators installed. So I wired one side in paralell, clipped the wires on the other side installed the bulbs and now everything works. I also did my garage but with 6500k bulbs.

                You can save $$$.
Bypassing the ballast in a fluorescent light allows you to eliminate the issues of the ballast.

                  Came with a bad led
After installing the lights one of the LEDs didn’t work. Kinda frustrating to have this issue with a LED. After returning and getting a replacement they worked fine.

                    Too easy to upgrade.
This kit came with everything you need to update old lights. Easy to do, even has videos you can watch before tackling this project. I'm happy I finally have a QUIET working light.

A bit too $, but good anyway
Good color white, easy to disassemble, not too brittle, nice wide dispersion, +1 for single-ended, dimming works smoothly. A bit more than I wanted to pay per tube, but close enough I'm tempted to buy more.

replaced lamps and transformers with LED tube
I converted 4 fixtures that originally had 4ea 4 ft lamps. I installed 2 LED lamps 6500K lights in each and they provide very good light in the shop. Instant full brightness on and not all the annoying hum. The manual needs improving in the wiring diagram

I have been trying to switch over some preexisting shop lights that my father in law installed before we inherited the property from fluorescent to LED. Given the quantity and expense this has been a slow process. I recently saw that there was light bulbs that allowed you to switch without having to replace the ballast fixture. What an amazing idea. It saves the time of uninstalling and reinstalling the fixtures but also reduces the waste that would be involved. I decided to give it a try and got the Toggled 16-Watt 4 ft. Color Selectable Dimmable Linear LED 2 pack Tube Light Bulbs. I liked the fact that they are color selectable so you can easily change them with a little slide switch that is located on the side of the bulbs if your needs change, the lighting options are 4000k 5000k or 6500k. This also comes in handy when installing them in more than one room as you can just buy multiples without worry of mixing them up during installation. Another nice feature is that they are dimmable. These bulbs come prewired so you just disconnect the old ballast and redo the wiring and suddenly you have LED lighting. The wiring is connected to lamp holders (the part that holds the bulb) so you do have to change that part but that is easy enough. Both wires go to the same lamp holder which seemed odd to me but seems to work ok. These come with everything you need right down to the wire nuts. Another nice feature is that they are shatter proof which if your clumsy like me really helps. They come with caps on the prongs of the light so they do not get damaged. They have a limited residential lifetime warranty. I thought the odd triangular shape may be an issue but it was not. Apparently they did this to avoid the troffer cave effect that you get with regular shaped tube lighting. I would say it only took me less than 10 minutes to install these from start to finish. They were plenty bright enough for me and gave off way better lighting than the old ones that were there. It says they last 50,000 hours which if that is true that would be amazing and will last me for years to come! Very happy with these.
