I am presently using two fluorescent tubes for germinating seedlings. One tube is a cool white & the 2nd tube is a warm white. Do I need to replace both tubes with the LED's or do I only need one tube? Thanks
Asked by: Jeff
I replaced both because my ballast-free fixture was wired as a double-ended and this is a single-ended bulb.

Can i use these in a standard shop light fixture that does not have a ballast? Is there any rewire needed to such fixture or can these go in as-is?
Asked by: SheriE
As long as the fixture is wired as single-ended. The instructions a clear on how to make sure the fixture is wired correctly. The bulb will not work on a double-ended fixture or if it is installed backwards. A sticker is enclosed to place on the fixture to indicate the "hot" end.

How do I use this? Can’t I use this on my ordinary shop light fixture? I think they have a ballast on them. Do I have to rewire them? ? ? If so why? Will it hurt the fixture or the bulb? I want to grow red bell peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers with them…. Thanks in advance!
Asked by: Denise
Yes it will work, but you must remove the ballast and rewire power to just one end. Instructions on how to rewire, and required "headstone" comes with each bulb. I have rewired 2 four foot fixtures following the instructions and they work great!

My fluorescent fixtures all have fittings at both ends. Do I need to rewire something on them to use these bulbs?
Asked by: sztak
Remove your Ballast and rewire to have power on just one end. Follow the easy instructions included with each bulb and you will be up and running in less than an hour.

Customer Reviews

16-Watt T8/T12 Full Spectrum Linear LED Grow Light is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Grower Review These lights were exactly what was described. Re-wiring was very easy and resulted in me removing the old ballast. This made the fixture lighter, on top of reducing the heat caused by the actual ballast. Clones, seedlings, sprouting - all are working well under this grow light. No visible bending by plants on outer edge of the light, as would happen with the older T8 grow lights. This shows, to me, that there is better coverage out to the edge of the grow trays. Very happy with this and price was pretty decent, too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes a big difference... I have two growing shelves for seed starting, microgreens, etc. One was previously set up with fluorescent grow bulbs and the other with these full spectrum LEDs. Both set-ups had the same types of plants, same soil, same everything, but the plants under the LEDs grew twice as quickly and were much healthier. I've since gotten rid of the fluorescent bulbs and have bought more of these LEDs to replace them. They are more expensive but the energy consumption is significantly lower and the results are incredible.
