What kind of attachment do the lamp holders have: snap-in, slide-in, or something else?

If you holders are not shunt wired, just use the ones in the light. That's what I did. So the lights go in and then are twisted to lock them in place in the existing holders.

How come this does not work with my current fixture that takes T8 LED ByPass tubes from Fusion and Maxlite? Am I required to change the tombstone for this to work? Frustrating!
Asked by: marcb
I finally went ahead and bought 6 package of 2s. I also rewired my 6 Lithonia Shoplights (which I really didn't feel like it to begin with). As it turns out, those Lithonia shoplights already uses non-shunted tombstone sockets so a simple direct wire was easily carried out. All is well and working!!! Lights were excellent and bright as the Non Day Sun a.k.a. 6500K. Home depot should have editing features authored by the original person that asked Q and be able to marked this thread as Solved.

toggled 48 in. Universal Voltage T8 16-Watt 5000K Daylight Linear LED Tube Light Bulb is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 459.

Light is bright and even and I will probably retrofit the other fixture I have even though the existing fluorescent tubes still function. It was a little bit of work to replace the old 'tombstones' (the connectors the tube clips into, which needed replacing anyway) and remove the old ballast from the circuit, BUT I explicitly chose this product so that I could remove the ballast which is after all just another point of failure and adds inefficiency to a lamp that is using LED's. There are some reviews that stated the bulb did not work - note that you actually need to follow the installation instructions (which I normally skim like everyone else) AND the bulb has a polarity: when you remove the ballast from the circuit and install the new 'tombstone' connectors only one tombstone will be live when you are finished - there is a not so obvious marking 'AC INPUT' on the bulb (see photo) which indicates which end of the bulb should be connected to the 'live' connector.

Tubes supposedly last much longer than the led tubes that can be easily installed and work with existing ballasts. The big hassle is the rewiring which is really not all that difficult. However, a word of caution is in order regarding the fixture's tube connectors (tombstones): These tubes require non-shunted wiring connectors on the tombstones supplying the electricity (ie, one for power and the other for neutral). If existing tombstones are shunted, then new non-shunted tombstones need to be purchased for the power side. Shunted tombstones at the opposite non-power side of the tubes can be left as their sole function is only for tube support.

Decided to go with these so I could eliminate issues with starters and ballasts in our 1978 home. I wound up replacing numerous fixture lamps in our den, utility room and garage with these toggled LEDs, and they work great. Following the instructions and online video, I converted the first fixture in about 15 minutes. After that, the other ones literally took me a little over five minutes each. It's pretty simple - turn off power, cut all lines to old ballasts, wire power to only one side of light fixture (white and black connections), then install bulbs with labeling towards the wired end. Only takes some wire cutter/strippers and some wire nuts, which are included in the package. Best of all the bulbs have a lifetime replacement warranty if used in residential applications. I registered my purchase online for any potential warranty issues. No hum, no flicker, instant on and bright lights. Plus, I don't have the heat from the ballasts and old bulbs, and the energy savings is an added bonus. Don't think about it, just take the leap and you'll be happy!

These had to be ordered online, but was free shipping to home, came fast. Able to take ballast out of old lights and rewire these without much problem. So nice, white light and bright. Have ordered 2 sets now, after lst set was still not quite enough for 1 per fixture in big shed, so went ahead and put 2 in each fixture, as it had. It illuminates much better than old tube florescent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bright! These led lights are the best.I replaced four 48” flouresent tubes in one kitchen fixture. Plenty of daylight lights now. Each 48”tube only consumes 16watts and they will last forever. If one strip fails, the rest stay on.Well worth the money spent. I highly recommend this product!
