What Is a Black Light?
Black lights are lights that emit long-wave ultraviolet (UV) light (which is not visible to the naked eye), but very little visible light thanks to a violet housing over the bulbs. This creates the popular purple or blue glow when it is turned on.
A Great Party Light Bulb
If you’re looking to set the mood for a party or gathering, the right lighting is a must. Black lights, in addition to colored light bulbs and color-changing light bulbs, are a great option to emphasize bright colors and glow-in-the-dark paint.
Types of Black Lights
The most common consumer black lights come in the form of screw-in light bulbs or fluorescent tubes. LED light bulbs are also an option and can help save money on usage, are brighter than tube lights and last for years. For medical applications, black lights are known as a Wood’s lamp and often utilize CF (compact fluorescent) bulbs.
