How long does it take for epoxy to harden?

Epoxy cures in stages, including 6 to 12 hours for the initial set, 24 hours for a partial cure, and 5 to 7 days (and sometimes up to two weeks depending on thickness and temperature) for a full cure. However, you can often use epoxy after 4 to 6 hours.

Low-surface-energy plastics like polyethylene, highly flexible materials like rubber, waxed or polished surfaces, and surfaces exposed to constant high heat are all difficult surfaces for bonding. The best surfaces for epoxy are metals, wood, ceramics, glass, and concrete. Always check the product label for specific surface recommendations.
