The Home Depot Rental Center at Carpentersville

When it's time to make the leap into a big DIY project, you might not have everything you need in the shed or garage. Don't let that stop you when you can stop by The Carpentersville Rental Center for tools, trucks, and large equipment.

Tool Rental
Start your next home improvement project with confidence and the right tools for the job. Let The Home Depot Carpentersville Tool Rental Center fill in the gaps in your toolbox with the tools you don't have at home. You can rent what you need and bring them back when the job is done. If those rental tools just went from wanted to needed, we have used tools available for purchase. The retired rental tools are discounted compared to the new items in our aisles.

Leaf Blowers
Try renting a leaf blower to keep up with your lawn. Fall will be here soon, so have a leaf blower at the ready. It's far less work than raking them into piles. It's also easier on hardscaping surfaces, concrete sidewalks, and driveways. Clear your yard by using backpack, walk-behind, or handheld leaf blowers.

Generators
Whether you're running a large welding machine or working in a remote location, you'll likely need to rent a generator. Generators also keep basic electrical appliances running when the power goes out. Make life easier during fieldwork or after extreme weather knocks out power to your home.

Heaters
A comfortable room makes everything easier, so be sure to check out our heater rentals. Portable heaters keep workspaces, barns, or outdoor events warm. They're safer than torch patio heaters because they have no open flame, and they also blow the hot air for greater coverage. We carry gas, propane, and electric heaters in different sizes. Pair this with good outdoor lighting, and you can extend work or play well into the evening hours.

Truck and Cargo Van Rentals
To make it easier to transport large tool rentals, we keep trucks and cargo vans ready for rental. Although availability varies by store, we've got a selection ranging from pickups to flatbed trucks to cargo vans. Choose the right size for your DIY project so you can keep your timeline on track. As your source for DIY projects, storage needs, and packing, it's easy to make us your go-to source for truck rental as well.

Box Trucks and Penske Moving Truck Rentals
If it's time to move to a new home, let us help with that. Explore our rental box trucks. We also offer Penske moving trucks in sizes ranging from 12-feet to 26-feet, but as always, availability varies from one store to the next. Use our trucks to haul all your belongings — from everything in a college dorm to the contents of a 4-bedroom house. Box trucks have different rental requirements and sizes than Penske moving trucks, so check the FAQs or consult an Orange Apron to ensure you choose the right rental truck for you.

Large Equipment Rentals
Handle expansive projects with the right professional equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job yourself. From the boom and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators and mini skid steers for hauling materials, we've got a surprising variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore our selection to see what we've got in stock.

Although we're mentioning popular truck, tool, and large equipment rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you've got a particular tool in mind, please reach out to your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rentals

How do I rent a piece of large equipment, a tool, or a truck?

Stop by your local Rental Center to see which tools or trucks you can rent. If you'd like to be sure of what's in stock, call first to ask about a tool, large equipment, or truck. You can also read our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your favorite store. For more info on renting tools or large equipment, read these Tool Rental FAQs, which includes terms and conditions for the equipment.

How long can I rent tools?

You can rent a tool for four hours or more. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small DIY projects may only require a short rental period, and bigger jobs aren't a problem either. You've got options to rent tools by the day, week, or month, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call the Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.

When can I bring the tools back?

You can return the tools early if you finish your project ahead of schedule, but on time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off built-up dirt from the tool as well. If you need them longer, call the rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.

Do saw rentals come with saw blades?

Yes, power saw rentals generally come with blades, but we do recommend that you buy your own. You'll likely not get a sharp blade when you rent, as most people won't leave one on there when they return it. However, you may luck out and receive an excellent one. As there's no guarantee, it's better to purchase a suitable blade, just in case you need it.

Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?

Yes, please fill up the truck before you bring it back. Note the amount of gas in the tank when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that same level. If you don't, you have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.

Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck or large equipment?

No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be 21 or older. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Large equipment and select tools also require ID verification via CLEAR.

How do I receive my large equipment rental?

Depending on your location, you can get large equipment delivered straight to your job site for an affordable rate — whether that's out in the field or at your own home. We'll need at least 24 hours' notice so we can adequately prep your rented equipment, and you'll need to rent it for a full day. In places where delivery isn't an option, speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.

What are some ways to avoid penalties and extra fees on rented large equipment?

Treat your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and that you obey traffic laws. Read the operator's manual so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get hit with a late fee.
