How do I rent a truck?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see which vans or trucks you can rent. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about renting a Load 'N Go cargo van, pickup truck, or flatbed truck. Penske moving truck rentals and moving vans have different rules. You might also visit our truck rental page to see if the vehicle you need is available at your store.
How long can I rent a truck?
Rent a truck or moving van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on the length of your project. Don't forget to factor in the drive between the job site and the store, as you'll need to return it to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the contract and terms and conditions before you decide on a van.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you return it. Match the level of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. When you don't refill the truck, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck.
