Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting plastic plant pots, CFLs, lead acid batteries, and rechargeable batteries for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store cut energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives such as solar and wind.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to our local communities, as well as the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

Do you have large outdoor Halloween decorations?
Yes, we carry many colossal outdoor Halloween decorations, many of which are animatronics. Make your front yard the creepiest in the neighborhood with giant Halloween decor options, including skeletons, reapers, and witches. Dean the Deathologist and Skelly are two current favorites. Halloween inflatables are another way to up the drama and create interest.
Should I get a portable generator or an inverter generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared for whatever circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether dealing with tornados, hurricanes, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity after the elements take it out. When exploring different generators for sale, don't forget that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. Always run your generators outside, away from doors and windows, for safety purposes.
Should I do siding repairs before it gets cold?
Make sure your home is ready for colder weather by repairing or replacing faulty parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in the crevices, you could headed for major repairs later. Check brick and cinder block for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. On the outside of your home, examine roofing shingles or metal roof panels for damage or rust that could let water in. Gutters should be clear to prevent ice dams. Lastly, vinyl siding and chimney caps should be replaced if they're damaged.
Are garage cabinets or sheds better for storage?
As you prepare for the holidays, give yourself extra space in the house and stow away the rest. Shield fragile items with moving blankets. Garage cabinets keep decorations, tools, and more out of the way. Take summer belongings out of the equation with shoe storage and other storage bins. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you the space you've dreamed of.
